    Another great use of scope boxes involves Dynamo - especially with the spring nodes package - wherein you pull the solid geometry of the scope box and can run an intersect to find elements within. Really cool way to segment your projects not just for views/sheets, but also for background data & parameters. We use scope boxes a ton and basically treat them as datums much like grids or levels.

      Great shout! A little more “advanced” of a use but still powerful

    Hello sir, I'm a junior Bim designer. Scope boxes didn't make me very happy until I heared you say "they are 3D objects, right?". I feel enlightened and they make sense now. You have a new fan ☺️

    Hi Jeff. I guess I have a tip (maybe it's not but i find it useful). We don't have to enter family type editor to ensure that naming and content match , simply on the project browser when going down to families you can use your down button and expand and select your type and go to properties panel and here it is, all the type parameter values in the type editor are shown there. Unfortunately you can't correct any problem using properties panel like instance but at least you've already did your check quickly and discovered your problem. Thanks.

    Hey Jeff and community. Scope boxes are great for enlarged plans and attaching a detail view to a certain scope box; i.e. enlarged stair plans. Create a scope box then in you plan views when you make a detail views to refer to the enlarged view. Assign the detail view in properties to that stair plan. It will make us so if the scope box changes so will your views.

    Hey Jeff - good explanation on scope boxes. One pitfall with scope boxes that has caught me (more than once) is that you cannot propagate extents of a 2D datum in views that have a scope box assigned to them because the scope box will automatically turn on crop view. In order to be able to propagate the extents of a 2D datum, your views can't be cropped. #lessonlearned #schoolofhardknocks

    There is a way to draw an irregular scope box?

      No, they have to be Rectangles.

    thnx scope boxes are a great tool. BUT.......there is one thing STILL :( AutoDesk!! missing, and that is the option to adjust the x-y-z value of a scope box (driven by parameters if possible) my opinion.

    • @TheRevitKid
      @TheRevitKid  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Valid point… that would be awesome to control a scope box that way!

      Agreed. I would love scope boxes to actually be adjustable to specific parameters instead of eyeballing them!

    Cannot wait to be able to make them with the API one day. 🥺

    The reason the scope box doesn't show up in the elevation automatically is because the cut/view line of the elevation view is not within the scope box. Moving the cut line into the scope box will have it show up as automatic visibility.
