Thank you for covering this. I was just there a week and a half ago. My husband and his family flew to Grenada and we spent 3 amazing days in Carriacou. I spent 22 days in Grenada this past Feb. and March. I am worried for my friends. They will need lots of help afterwards. Most of them remember Ivan in 2004, but I've already told them I don't know how to prepare them for what is coming. The entire power grid is above ground. Many homes will be destroyed and some people will lose everything. I've seen too much hurricane destruction in my life already. Godspeed Grenada and Carriacou!

The country/state of Grenada consists of three main islands. The main island is Grenada itself which is 120 square miles. The other two islands are Grenadine islands consisting of Carriacou and Petite Martinique which are roughly 13 square miles.
Petite Martinique means little Martinique and is not to be confused with the larger island of Martinique which is a French colony . Grenada itself was colonised by the French and many or most of the villages are named in French. After several battles Grenada was ceded to the British and some of the streets and towns are British named.
There is another small inhabited island called Calivigny island which is also part of Grenada.

I live in Grenada and go to Carriacou and Petite Martinique all the time and have friends there. total devastation. I spoke to my friend, he got wifi from a boat. The devastation is far worse than a video can show. Please give what you can to an official gofundme.

Exactly. Look in the comments at how many people have never even heard of the island of Carriacou. I hate introducing it like this though
