Great video Dan,had this in my watch list an only just got round to watching. I’ve seen some of your fabrication work over on Facebook so more than capable of repairing that inner wing. Most people would just chop it off at the bulkhead and nail a new magnum inner wing in but if your like me you get far more satisfaction from saving an original panel. If it was my car I’d be saving the inner wing but it’s ultimately your call and looking forward to more updates👍
That won’t threaten a magnet much. I think it would be easier to start with that new Floorplan and build a new car around it. 😂 . You can’t argue this boy likes a challenge. This looks well produced and I look forward to following the journey. Good luck fella. 👍🤞
Fair play to you to restore the escort your brave hope you're good with a mig welder as you need to be as all old fords rot I've done plenty of fords over 25 years of welding experience keep the videos coming be interesting I would make a jig up so you can turn the car over to do all the prep work and welding good luck was a good price for it as they are not cheap to get but you need a Capri for other parts don't matter wat the body is like engine gearbox front struts back axle things like that to use on the escort just a idea

I travelled round Australia in a 1976 Ford Escort in 1996. I was working as a mechanic in Sydney. It was rust free and I paid $750 AU dollars for it. I cannot fathom why anyone would spend £3000 on a basket case of a car ,that when finished , even to as new condition,is an un-inspiring car to drive. This fascination with mk 1 and mk2 escorts is staggering . All I can say is well sold that man. I’ll carry on with my mk2 Jag that I paid £1500 for.

i am so jealous of you guys doing mk1 and mk 2 escort resto's... i used to have a fantastic mk1 escort it was in mint condition 1 owner car and it was stolen allmost 30 years ago now and was never found.. i have not been able to buy another and they are just getting more expensive and rare to find an unmolested one.
You might want to be aware that most of the fixings on a MK2 are not metric but unc/unf. The thread is similar but not right. I know this from my own MK2.

If this car were in Australia it would've been down the tip. You guys over there will restore anything in this condition. It's really impressive.

How did you check the chassis wasn’t twisted again?
How have you done those small wheeles under the cross member?
They are castors welded to a front crossmember

I had two of these in the 80s, what a pile of garbage they were and still are in my opinion.
