@@lejeezhtv7511 solar panels need it's own charging systems. So, with existing technology of solar panels, it adds up negligible amount of power comparing to the weight of solar panel and specialized charging systems.
But, It may be possible if more efficient solar panels will be invented in the future.
There was a passenger boat in kerala. That completely runs in the roof top solar panels. Since, water transport need less power than many others.

That will never be practical because EV batteries are extremely large and heavy. For example, Tesla EV batteries range from about 500kg to 800kg, depending on the model. Even on a more modest EV, you'd still be looking at a battery weight of well over 100kg.

Our apartment builder is raising an objection to setting upof an EV charging point at my own parking slot wired to my own meter. They've sent a notice to me asking me to remove the charging infrastructure for my ather bike.
In my case the society or community has not raised objections, its the builder who is raising the concern? Why is the builder raising a concern after he sold off the property?
What are the grounds under which a builder can raise objection? Is there a legal right of the owner to take decision on his/her own to setup charging point from their meter if they have dedicated parking slots? Can we file a complaint against the builder for raising objections to EV charging points and if so to whom?

If we are owners and have parking space also these society people behave like anpads and reject to keeping charging sockets. Only thing is to fight and setup in their location from their flats. These types of cases came to me. Finally i suggested them to explain coolly, and if not listen you have fight verbally and keep charging socket for ev 2 wheelers, for atleast 10 connections were setup like this. There should be law to allow or setup charging facilities to each flat in their parking space or common areas.

As a point of interest. Canada. Many or most apartment buildings are rentals where the whole building is run by a rental company. In these there are no meters per apartment. My electric meter has 8 wire outs, 2 each of red yellow blue black.
ie 3 phase and my supply rating is 8kw (4bhk house with 6 ac and 3 water heater etc)
The eb meter is in a locked sealed metal box along with other flat boxes and wires go inside plastic pipes which directly go into shafts.
Why are there 2 sets of ryb-neutr wires ?
Is the connection taken directly from meter or after a MCB switch for charging point.
I don't see any seperate MCB and neither provision in the meter for connection.
Society is strictly against "wire cutting" citing fire hazard.
My parking is just one wall away from eb room.
Is 8 kw sufficient to operate 3.2 kw charger and also few ac (1.5 ton) and water heater (2kw) / other basic loads simultaneously.
Please advise on the wiring and load aspects. Thanks.

We dont have proper infrastructure for EVs..
Housing societies are getting power at 3kw rating or at max 5 kw (heard of...not sure in which cities).
One has to understand that till you are charging your car, you are limited on how much power you can draw in your apartment...dont expect to run a couple of ACs at once in the night or may not even a single one...
As power requirements surge, government may have to equip each house say at 10kw rating which would mean strengthening every aspect of distribution outside your building...
Forget about achieving this, there is not even any planning on any level..
I have lived in Chennai where a single house had multiple ACs and it was impossible to run all the ACs at once..

My society has an open parking lot. In order to get a dedicated parking, I may have to buy the spot for 5+ lakhs or rent it for may be 1000 rs... just guessing. Both options are not feasible. This is also assuming the society is ready to let go of one spot for me.
What is the solution when one does not have a dedicated parking spot? This is the problem for 60+% of people in urban cities like Mumbai. People in Mumbai don't usually buy parking while buying home as it is very expensive. Instead they park the car on open roads or empty space nearby.
This is the showstopper for people in Mumbai who want to own an EV.
The best solution is a power bank which one can charge at home and take down to car when needed. But I guess that is pretty futuristic.
    What's the solution then???

Generally yes. But u will need a high power 3 phase connection anyway.
And nitesh Kumar is right. Fast charging is not the best for your battery.

Fast charging is not allowed as per regulations. Check chief electrical inspector advisor online for EV installation

Socket will be connected to our meter ...fine! So what if someone else starts charging their electric scooters without our consent?

Use a locker box with the socket inside. and lock it.

Its not so easy as explained. Imagine an apartment complex of 200 apartments with individual car slots in basement/ stilt parking. Most EV cars need 32 A current for overnight charging which implies 6400 amperes of current. For such a high ampere requirement, the cabling for power supply needs to be changed and also the sanctioned load also needs to be changed, Both these are herculean tasks in India

  • @dherajkanchan

The biggest concern here is to convince society members for installing electric station in apartment & this really sucks. First of all, if govt has no objection on installing electric station at apartment, i am in no mood to please anyone for the same. As if they would be paying my electric bill. So the only solution to get this thing around is to pass law & keep their damn mouth shut :D

Yah, as soon as it went on to convince the society management I immediately lost all the interest about buying EVS! :D Society managements in India are typically made up of retired jobless people who have only one work to do is oppose anything and everything for some idiotic nonsense reasons.

This is the reason why I am not buying an EV... there are too many issues in an apartment, not worth the hassle right now unless they set up charging stations in every nook and corner

      Technically difficult.
Power bank battery must have larger capacity than car battery which will make it heavier.
Total charging time will increase, power bank charging + car battery charging. Cost will also increase.
