    I still put his Mind's Eye album as top 3 ever , For me it is Yngwie's Rising Force , Vinnie Moore's Mind's Eye an Jason Becker's Perpetual Burn..

    Vinnie Moore is the best all round rock player in the world. From neo classical, to straight out rock, to jazzy funk, no one phrases as well as he does. He can play like Satriani, Holdsworth, Malmsteen, and more. He truly is a living god. He and Becker are the greatest shredders of all time.

      @@Chris741113 I like the fact that he has transitioned through various styles. A small percentage of great players do this, and it shows they are curious and exploring. Even The Stones, Hendrix and Led Zeppelin did this. A player who just churns out the same style over and over usually only produces a handful of quality albums. Hearing his string control at work when he plays the slower stuff is beautiful - the slurring, volume swells, bends, vibrato, tapping all done in his unique "clean" phrasing with that really great tone he has developed. I can recommend Mystified from Soul Shifter.

    I just want to say that vinnie can play everything as good as paul gilbert , batio, petruzzi etc, even more, i think his technique is much better that some of these good guitar players. he plays really clean, fast and effortly. Few can play that fine.

    Yngwie was NOT the first hard rock neoclassical player, you forgot about Randy Rhoads. But Randy would only realize about 70% of his potential before his untimely death. and before that, it was Al Di Meola and John McLaughlin, and waaaay before that, Jimmy Bryant was shredding just as hard as anyone today.

    Good point... Sam Andrew of Big Brother and the Holding Company was also doing cool classically influenced stuff back in the late 1960s. Love his pedal point solo in "Summertime".

    First of all, it has to be music, not a competition. Shred turned the art of guitar into a sport. So, you'd have to prove to me that he was actually playing real music instead of going in with a athletic mentality before you could convince me that he was a real musician. When you get to a certain age, you figure out that better is better. Louder is not better. Faster is not better. Harder is not better. Better is better.

  • @jspartacus
    @jspartacus 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    Whatever. Uli Roth was playing extremely primitive stuff. Al Di Meola was playing circles around him back in the early '70s. And Roth was still light years behind players like Frank Marino and Neal Schon. "Faster and more aggression" does not mean better. And the instant you said that, I knew I was dealing with a 12 year old.

    I hesitate to write this, but I really don't like his tone. It's too shrill. I would think some nice chorus and a touch of reverb would help. Plus, he should turn his treble down a tad. He's a great player, far faster and more technical than myself, but I just find that tone to get annoying after a few seconds.

    You are full of it,yngwie was playing neoclassical stuff when Randy was still in Quiet riot.Yngwie wasnt well known then apart fom the demo tapes that circulated on the college radiostations but his style and direction was there.Randy's playing at that time didnt even hint of any classical influences whatsoever.

  • @Sunedosa
    @Sunedosa 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    Apart from that Uli Roth was well ahead of both of them,yngwie ripped a lot of his style from Uli but developed it further and played faster with more aggression

  • @jspartacus
    @jspartacus 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    Vinnie Moore is technically pretty decent. But his musical ideas are not that complex. It's scales and patterns, which are very simple. Sounds like you need to listen to John Coltrane or Charlie Parker, because only then will you truly understand what complex music is. You have no concept, because to you complex = fast. This is fast, but not complex. It's not about fretboard knowledge, it's about transcending it all and making innovative music, not about who's fastest.

  • @jspartacus
    @jspartacus 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    You're full of it. Yngwie didn't invent any new techniques AT ALL. Speed picking? Nope, DiMeola and Jimmy Bryant did that way before Yngwie. Sweep arpeggios? Nope... Chet Atkins was doing that in the early '70s. Tapping? Van Halen had all that down years before Yngwie. All Yngwie did was STEAL melodic ideas from Paganini and Bach and play them in a heavy rock context. He didn't create any new techniques AT ALL. Randy Rhoads was the first true neoclassical player.

  • @Sunedosa
    @Sunedosa 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    See,you cant even stay within the same discussion,i had issues with you claming that Randy Rhoads played neoclassical guitar before yngwie did and now you bring out al di meola frank marino and neal schon ? What the hell do they have to do with neoclassical guitarplaying ? Zero zilch and fucking nada.Theyre good players all of them but they do NOT belong in a discussion about neoclassical guitarplayers.

  • @jspartacus
    @jspartacus 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    You have turned this into some stupid competition between Yngwie and Randy Rhoads. The truth is Rhoads was the first neoclassical player. If you think Yngwie is "better", you certainly have a problem with perception. Yngwie's solos are not only forgettable, they lack the breadth of expression that Randy Rhoads had. You must absolutely be JUST a shred player, because you oddly think they are the best around. But you'd be completely wrong. Again.

  • @Sunedosa
    @Sunedosa 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    Again,that is a matter of opinion and as those go i don't lend any importance to yours.You sir are a broken record,repeating the same phrases every time over and over doesn't make it truth.What about Frank Marino and Neal Schon then ? Why did you mention them ? Neal Schon has never been considered a neoclassical guitarist and the same goes for Frank Marino .When you constantly offer misinformation,facts that you make up yourself how can anyone belive anything you say ?
