Another advantage is that when the syrup moon-eyed phase fades you still have each other. The flip-side though is that a relationship with too much in common can stay the same for far to long, and before you kniw it you wake up one day and realise there's zero spark, hardly any attraction. I think I'm an exception to YOUR rule. I didn't "throw away my entire family" when I had a chance to get with someone that I was in love with and I think felt the same way. My kids were very young and didn't want to hurt them. So I endured their mothers attitude and hatefulness toward me.
