- TalkTV's Julia Hartley-Brewer challenges Ben Jamal from the Palestine Solidarity Campaign over whether he condemns protesters calling for 'Jihad' on UK streets.
This comes after the Metropolitan Police said “up to 100,000” took part in a pro-Palestine march in central London on Saturday, with other rallies in Cardiff, Glasgow and Birmingham.
Others protested outside the BBC’s MediaCity headquarters in Salford, Greater Manchester, over its reporting of the Israel-Hamas conflict.
Julia says: "Would you mind answering the question? I'm not asking you whether you were there."

Israel is not targeting civilians, it's targeting terrorists who, as usual, hide among civilians. Israel is dropping about 300-400 bombs per day (less than the amount of rockets Hamas and Hezbalah is throwing at Israel every day) and that, after 18 days of bombing, means 6300 bombs. Hamas sources (!) claim 5700 dead people, which include their operatives/terrorists and those civilians killed by the approx. 570 Hamas rockets that misfired and fell inside Gaza. That, plus the usual Arab inflation of numbers to promote their cause, means we might be talking about not more than 2000-3000 civilian casualties. That's less than one civilian casualty for every 2 Israeli bombs. That's neither genocide nor targeting civilians.
By the way: he says he is not entitled to question the judgement of MET police but he takes thousands to the street to question the judgement of his government...

Per the argument. Hamas is a terrorist organization. If a terrorist organization has taken over a whole building with hundreds of civilians inside… would the right reaction be: bomb them? Now what if those civilians were Israeli? What if they were Palestinians? Would the reaction be the same? If your answer is different in each case… then you are either blinded by your biases… or value one civilian life over the other.
And don’t say “them” or “they” caused it… because the original argument was that Hamas is a terrorist organization and by definition they terrorize civilians and use them as human shields. So shouldn’t Israel value the Palestinian civilian as much as they value the Israeli civilian? The reality is that in this context Hamas and the IDF are both conducting same acts of crime against humanity with one being an organized state terrorism while the other a militia!

Well, Israel is in breach of international law by occupying land the UN designated for the Palestinian people. Israel is also committing war crimes right now. So, international law is important.

Under international laws and human rights Israel have no obligation to supply anything to Gaza. Israel it is NOT the ruler of Gaza but Hamas.
Actually they do have an obligation under UN security council rulings to allow food and water in. The Syrian government was condemned for commiting a war crime when it used starvation against rebel held cities and towns.

It's interesting to me that similar or worse situations have played out and are still occurring in Syria and Yemen, yet little attention is given to them, that latter especially as there are 150,000 deaths directly from fighting and a further 200,000+ from the aftermath.
Nothing similar here. In Yemen, for example, it is two factions within the same country fighting each other, with pretty much equal power, for the control of the country. Here, we are talking about an occupying power, Israel (yes Israel is an occupying power in Gaza and the West Bank, per the UN), trying to liquidate a resistance movement, Hamas, which, per the International Court of Justice, has the right to fight occupation by all means at its disposal, including violence. By the same Court, Israel HAS NO RIGHT TO DEFEND ITSELF AGAINST AN OCCUPIED people, notwithstanding what Israel itself and all its "allies" say repeatedly.

Well the point I was making was more about the loss of life really. The complexities of who should have the right to do what is another conversation. As it stands, the conflict in Gaza receives the attention that it deserves, but I still wonder why the other conflicts that I mentioned seem to go uncovered.
