We got ourselves one of these, too. Dug a bunch of swales, a pond in the garden, next up: a duck pond. It’s a perfect tool where a shovel is not enough and a commercial excavator is too much.
Man you said it right... I'm searching for the cheapest bulldozer for 5 grabs expecting it to be brand new. And if I had that trencher you bet I'd move a mountain of dirt lol
Hi Jamaliel, I called Harbor Freight and ordered a set of hub and axles then went to Wal Mart and got the tires and rims. It sure makes changing from toe to dig a lot easier. Thanks for watching.
For off road only use get a set of 22x11-10 high load 4ply atv tires on 10x10 4on4 pattern trailer wheels for the second set of stub axles... Also getting a second set of the outriggers and cutting the cleat off and add a pin swap set of feet is another good mod you could have a set of feet with rubber pads for working from pavement a set of mud cleats, and the stock dirt cleats
Yes, that is one of the reasons I bought this one. I live in the mountains and have places that a tractor will turn over on. This thing crawls up or down them with no problem. Not sure on a "recommended gradient", all I can say is my place is steep. Thanks for watching.
With this machine I can see where a few up grades that would help. I would not like taking off the wheels all the time and having to move them. Two smaller wheels at back where you tow it. And add 2 cylader. 1 on each side to put the out rigers down for digging. Then you would not have to move the larger wheels around.
Biggest upgrade I've found for soft terrain is a set of 22x11-10 high load 4ply atv tires on 10x10 4on4 pattern trailer wheels greatly reduces getting stuck and/or sinking into soft ground as well as reducing the ruts left behind
Your broken welds might have saved the outrigger. 👍🏽
Thanks for share your videos.
easily the best breakdown of this machine and what to look for thank you deffinitly made my decision on buying this!
Thank you for watching and for the kind words. I just try to tell it as I see it. LOL

Yea, I've watched some of your videos, good stuff. Thanks for watching.

It's one of the best investments we've made for our farm. I'll be posting a new video about it soon, Thanks for watching.
Not bad, not bad at all!
Thank you, and thanks for watching.
Good to know on the survival. These things are tough.
Yep, treat them right and they just keep going. LOL Thanks for watching.
Mines on 9yrs digging WI blue clay and glacial till
This thing is easy to work on, it will last forever in good hands. Glad you got the pond project done, or are you planning to expand it next year?
Yep, plans are to expand next year.
What's the measurements for the outriggers. New to build a set.
You know, I don't know off the top of my head. I'll check and get back to you.
About how far down can you dig
I can get down between 7 and 8 foot.
What kind of maintenance does little red require.
The biggest thing is to grease all of the pins often. Other than that, change oil (engine and hydro.) and filters depending on use.
Hello, where did you get the extra wheels?

@@DoubleMFarmHomestead i know, switching to toe mode is tedious
@@jamalielprendergast6316 Yep, but the second set of wheels makes it simple. :)

Is it able to operate on a steep slope? Most of these things I've seen said no. If so, what is the max recommended gradient?

Work from the high side of the slope

Several people have done that. I really haven't found it to be a problem. I can change from tow to dig in 5 min. Thanks for watching.

You baby and spoil Big Red. Send Big Red up to my trencher summer camp in Vermont...hehehe.
I can't do without her that long. LOL
the first three words on the Harbor freight website are "This portable backhoe"
It is called being frugal & home engineers. Making do with what you have & can afford
