"20 years of trying, 20 years of trying" Those words will always be iconic. The way they salute the car as Dale drove by the pit lane is simply majestic
2:21:21 Greatest iconic tone to NASCAR On FOX Broadcast legend, Mike Joy, in the moment of caution and white flag and the late Dale Earnhardt, Sr. has finally won 1998 Daytona 500.
For those not knowing, the 1990 Daytona 500 should have been Earnhardt's. Led 155 laps but cut a tire on the last lap, didn't crash and held on for a 5th place. 1998 should have been the second 500 win.
20 years of trying 20 years of frustration Dale Earnhardt will come to the caution flag to win the Daytona 500 finally that will always be in racing history
I remember Watching this Race, I was 11 Years Old at the Time. I Started following Nascar after this Race, and unfortunately Stopped Following it after the 2001 Daytona.
1998 1. Austin City Limits in its 23rd season on PBS. 2. Home Improvement in its 8th and final season during the 1998-1999 season on ABC. Legendary Lighthouses premieres on PBS. 3. MCA released George Strait's One Step at a Time album. 👍
I remember watching the 1997 primestar cup race and they were saying how dale jarret was trying to "get out of the shadow of the other dale" 2:47 i guess he never could 😂😂😂
I miss this kind of Nascar where each and every Driver grew up Racing its in they're blood nowadays the drivers got in either by they're daddies money or their Social media status yes I'm referring to you Hailie Deegan.... Anyway I stop Watching nascar after Austin Dillon won the Daytona 500 in 3 car in 2018 I found that extremely disrespectful to Dale Sr I'm glad I stop when I did because now there's stages to the races because the non race car driver drivers can't handle endurance it's pathetic Nascar will be gone forever in 2027
This was my first Daytona 500 and it totally sucked having this Jerk win !! It was clearly FIXED !! He gets to the front and all of a sudden no one is passing for the lead! Labonte had to have been instructed not to pass him! He was clearly faster than the Jerk in the 3 car.,. Glad he’s gone!!!
"20 years of trying, 20 years of trying"
Those words will always be iconic. The way they salute the car as Dale drove by the pit lane is simply majestic
It's actually is "20 years of trying, 20 years of frustration".
Dale Earnhardt was so good in this race that he was driving two cars (3 and 88).
Mike Joy calling his first Daytona 500 and he got to call Dale Earnhardt's first and only win in the 500
So true Brian 🏁 3 🏁
I can’t believe they went 30 laps before the first commercial. FOX would’ve already had six commercials by then.
Actually, they went 16 laps
@@kjprodouctions9050You’re right, but the point still stands with FOX currently
@pens87668 Well, a few times, they don't go to the first commercial until 11 laps, but yeah
2:17:23 Loved how we could hear Larry Mac telling Dale “6 to go baby, remember what you told me a year ago, Don’t let them get a run on you”
One Iconic Legendary Moment in NASCAR that will never ever be duplicated or recreated.
🏁3🏁 So true!
I’m Soooo happy I went to Daytona this yr for NASCAR’s 75th ( 1 time for the 500 in person) .
Strange hearing Larry McReynolds on the pit box and not in the booth. Even back then, he had a voice for broadcasting.

2:20:38 Final Lap win Earnhardt remember Austin Dillon 1998-2018 in 20 years
Thank you for uploading this important piece of history of NASCAR up there with the 1979 Daytona 500.
I'll always remember the fan holding the 3 flag as he crossed the line.
It's so funny to watch these back. Spinning cars on pit road and no caution lol
Most iconic moment in NASCAR history.
Said no one ever!
At 2:41:04 you can hear the 1995-98 NASCAR on CBS theme.

Raise hell, praise Dale 3forever
If he were alive it would be for3ver.
My favorite NASCAR Race RIP Dale Earnhardt

Schrader’s wreck in the 125 looked eerily similar to Earnhardt’s fatal wreck three years later.
Hate that we lose sound before the final laps
aaaaaaaah a race without stage breaks... sooo nice
Great Race

DALE
Dale Earnhardt will absolutely not be Crying Like a little B*tch in Victory Lane. I'm pretty sure that Guy has lost His Mind

and not 1 person who touched that car died of covid
This video on the main NASCAR channel is eons better in 60FPS. This upload seems pointless.
Exactly. All of these uploads on this channel are 30 fps.
