    One of the best movies of the last few years. Everyone knew what this movie was about but I don’t think anyone ACTUALLY knew. Really appreciate how much it dives into the early labor movement in the US and how that influenced Oppenheimer’s actions

    Nolan's Opus. An absolute masterpiece. Shortest three hour movie ever. I was gobsmacked and am still a bit shaken after almost a week has passed since I saw it. Will see it again soon

      It felt extremely long to me but in such a good way! It’s a testament to how dense and relentless it is that it felt like an 8 hour movie crammed into 3 hours and I enjoyed every second.

    Oppenheimer is a masterpiece. Nolan is a genius. Murphy and Downey Jr delivered the best performances of their careers. The score is brilliant. If I didn't love Interstellar so much, I would say this is Nolan's best work to date. Oh and that ending... goosebumps all over. 10/10

      Considering how stacked the cast is, that's an interesting take.
      Though it's fair to say, it really does seem to be cast for _talent_ rather than _star power,_ so I don't entirely disagree, it's just not something it would occur to me to espouse.

    • @notaspeck6104
      @notaspeck6104 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Exactly, and while people might point out that the cast is in fact stacked they're missing the point. None of them were treated like celebrities, I mean there were actors that could be leads in major blockbusters that were just there in the background. Yes the cast is talented but they work in service of the story, not the other way around. Even the cast commented on the environment where it felt like everyone was genuinely working to create a fantastic film. You'd be hard pressed to find a movie of great quality that doesn't want and seek out great actors, why would you punish the writing and other aspects for having good actors? Just cause the actors are good doesn't mean the writing wasn't also good. They elevate each other, that's the essence of a movie. Different aspects both visual and audible coming together to create an interesting experience.

    13:04 the politics of Nolan are interesting? You clearly didn’t understand Nolan’s movies. The Dark Knight shows that torture isn’t a reliable means of obtaining accurate information, that violating international law has blowback, and that the surveillance state is too dangerous. The Dark Knight Rises showed that the masses will rise up if they think the wealthy are hoarding everything, if they think public institutions have failed them, and that people can easily be manipulated by a populist figure. Interstellar showed a world that humans ruined and a school system that engaged in revisionist history. And Oppenheimer shows a scientist’s reputation destroyed by the government because he was no longer saying what they wanted him to say. Shades of Fauci. Oh and Nolan himself gave the commencement address at Princeton where he called on young people to respect reality. It still amazes me that people think Nolan is a conservative when so much of what he shows in his movies and what he’s said in public makes it clear he’s a liberal.

    This is the problem with the overly individualist view on sociopolitical issues that the left has somehow still not realized they need to let go of in order for leftist analysis to mean anything. A scattered, disorganized “boycott” of whatever interaction with entertainment any particular individual thinks they should stop doing is not only ineffective it’s not what the unions on strike are asking for. 12:52 I don't think any of the stuff you just mentioned was ever political. Even Oppenheimer is not political (as a movie and at its heart, not its direct real life subject matter obviously), it's a human and emotional and and scientific story. I don't know why American's are so hyper-fixated on making everything political and reading everything as a secret message. Like when batman extradites someone from a foreign country its not some meta message, its batman being batman. Batman does because batman can. And the whole big brother thing from the dark knight was literally portrayed as immoral and destroyed at the end of the movie. Really weird take that kind of ruined this video for me but good review overall I guess.

      Just because you found it slow and boring doesn’t mean it is, it’s subjective. There’s no “hypocrisy” here lol.

      Dude how could u say this movie was slow? I think the worst part about it is how Nolan wont let almost any scene breath and feels the need to make everything fast and snappy. If it was like 10 minutes longer without any added scenes I think this movie would be much better. And the sex scene is super stupid too.
