- THRIFT WITH ME throughout a number of the BIGGEST Charity shops within the UK.... Like always hoping to find some retro goodies!!! And I can show you what I buy to trade in to CEX and how I do it!!!
What is a Charity shop you say???? A charity shop (British English), thrift shop or thrift store (American English) or opportunity shop (Australian English and New Zealand English) is a retail establishment run by a charitable organization to raise money.
Charity shops are a type of social enterprise. They sell mainly used goods such as clothing, books, music albums, shoes, DVDs, toys, and furniture donated by members of the public, and are often staffed by volunteers. Because the items for sale were obtained for free, and business costs are low, the items can be sold at competitive prices.

Yeah 70s / 80s I love those kind of things. A bit of King Kong and other classic movies. It looked like a complete bust at one point those!

Yeah I think it was!! Gotta love a soundtrack!!! Yeah on VHS I would love to find a stack of decent horror ones one day
@Scott's Retro Collectables Ahh mate!! I had loads of VHS tapes for free lately and the ones I didn't want I took to the tip and there was loads of horrors too. Next time I grab a VHS bundle I'll definitely message you before I take them to the tip

No wonder when u visit charity shop nothing much in most of them with these scavengers and old women rooting through stuff all day to trying to get bargins to sell on
I went charity shopping yesterday, came home with nothing, the prices have gone absolutely stupid, £3 for new dvd's, a comic book listed on ebay for £20 tops was £80, pricing them out as people won't pay that much for 2nd hand items
Yeah I honestly thought this one was going to be like that to be fair. I was digging deep!! It’s definitely gotten harder out there. I remember when the charity shop were really quiet and not much people would go in them. Talking 15/20 years ago. I have actually started to ask if I look out back if I see something from distance

There is a reason stuff is given to a charity shop. Most is not worth picking up. I briefly volunteered in a charity shop. If stock isn't sold within a couple of weeks or so it is taken outback, destroyed and put in the bin. Which just goes to prove that people who donate stuff to charity shops might as well have put their junk in the bin.
Yeah I have seen the same the ones that are near me the better ones, rotate their stock every 2 week. But it gets bagged up and goes to a city centre store to clear through via the van collecting guys. Other bits like books and clothing is sacked up after 2 weeks and bagged and sold to companies per sack fixed price

Sadly, especially near to where I live, charity shops have become virtually useless for finding treasure.
It felt a lot harsh out there. I have started asking more if I can look at the back too. It’s definitely 50/50 yes and no. Mine always feel harder when boot sales are about to start too
nice mag finds mate. you should always look at pottery and china stuff coz they sometime got value AKA wade can go for a pretty penny as well.

Don't bother because wade and Pottery prices have come down like mad and you really struggle to give it away these days as things have changed massively in the last 5 years
What app do you use to check how much things are worth?
I use CEX app or eBay 😊
37:19 ( on the right bottom shelf) derek & the dominos LP is a good pick up . depending on price, but as its in a chazza probably scratched to death.
Really I keep an eye out next time! As I think they are £1 or 3 for £1
Nice, pickups mate, charity shops in my area have been a bit quiet of late though I did have a nice haul of DS games earlier this week.

Every oxfam I go into there always expensive. I volunteer at one and they still do 10 for £1 with blu ray and games . The games depends on how old they are
My one is very hit and miss. Mine all in the past would do 10 for £1 the good old days
@Scott's Retro Collectables yeah I honestly think mine will change at some point has they try get more money but fail to notice the media piling up and not selling it happened not long back on the boxsets
I’m fairly sure the charmed Boxset is a pirate Asian import
Hi Steve I did think that, the box looks lovely but not like a normal boxset and the shelves don’t look right at all. Hopefully it’s in English 😂 I will give it a try fingers crossed

Mate I have a huge charity shop coming where I ask if there is anything out the back and they say have a look and it happens!!! But yeah it’s definitely felt pretty dried up at these ones. Maybe because the boot sales just started and there are quite a few people that would rather try selling there goods there instead of giving them charity as they have an easier platform to shift it. I just need to double my current CEX fund now 😂
Charity shops are hard i go to my locals at least 3 times a week u was never goinv to tell the guy the mags were £3 each lol bargain 50p nice vid
Unfortunately not 😂 I didn’t help direct him towards the mags but he choose to ask the manager. I honestly think the £3 is from the sewing magazine and kits they had in there in the past….. I could be wrong those.
I remember when charity shops were for people who genuinely needed cheaper items...now its people getting what they can to sell on at a profit tut tut
I definitely think reselling has been go on in charity shop hunting for the past 30 years. It’s just now there is more means for people to see it via social media.
Nobody “genuinely needs” a vinyl lp or games though

I’ve manged to find some nice mugs for 50p to flip on and make some money on them
Thanks for the heads up Zoe! I have never been too sure on mugs or what to look out for. I have picked some characters ones up in the past by you don’t see them that often
What I have done and this is how I have learnt is to just check if it’s 50p Just have a look on eBay and see

Charmed set is a blatant fake, disc prints look awful and they're in cheap plastic sleeves.
Yeah I did think that. Hopefully it’s in English too. But for £3 definitely saves me downloading it on limewire 😆. Fingers crossed it’s In English
