      Please try to cook it with the cheese cloth. It works for me. Some sticky rice may stick with cheese cloth, just take it out as much as you can and soak it in water.. then easy to wash.

    I have the same rice cooker. I never use the cloth - just add rice directly in the pot and choose "sweet rice" option. Note that sticky rice needs less water to cook than regular jasmine rice.

    • @NeenasThaiKitchen
      @NeenasThaiKitchen  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can do it that way too. From my experience, if I don’t use the cloth, the bottom part gets soggy. If I reduce the water, it doesn’t cook through. Enjoy cooking 😊

    • @NeenasThaiKitchen
      @NeenasThaiKitchen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have not tried the sweet option. I’ll try it and will update you. I start cooking beans 🫘 in a rice cooker by using the Quick option. The result is good.

    What's the purpose of using a cheesecloth inside the rice cooker?

    • @NeenasThaiKitchen
      @NeenasThaiKitchen  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      From my experience if you don’t use a cheese cloth at the bottom of the rice cooker the sticky rice is more soggy. Even after you reduce the water and don’t use cheesecloth it won’t cook thru as well. This is from my own experience trying different ways.
      What has been your experience been with making sticky rice? Any tips?

    What would be the ratio for 1 cup rice?

    • @NeenasThaiKitchen
      @NeenasThaiKitchen  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I normally cook 2 cups and keep the extra in the refrigerator wrapped in plastic wrap. To reheat it I would cover it with a wet paper towel and microwave about 40-60 seconds. If you decide to cook only one cup rice try between 3/4 to 5/6 cup of water. Hope that helps

    Straining rice is very wasteful of calories. In olden time, did poor people keep the starch to make soup with? Are there any traditional recipes for such a thing? Thanks

    • @NeenasThaiKitchen
      @NeenasThaiKitchen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi thanks for your comment and question. The traditional way of making sticky rice is to soak it overnight and the starch water is not used for anything. I’m not aware of any recipes using the starch water.

    not microwave with aluminum. dangerous

    • @NeenasThaiKitchen
      @NeenasThaiKitchen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s correct. It is very dangerous to microwave with aluminum. The correct way is cover the sticky rice with damp paper towel or damp cloth about 45 - 60 minute

    • @NeenasThaiKitchen

      Thanks for the feedback. Sometimes it depends on the type of sticky rice “old” vs “new” crop rice. Please let me know if you try again and reduce the water if that works better. Different kind of rice cooker can be a factor.
