1979 bc rich mockingbird shorthorn and a 57 les paul custom. These guitars are the only two I dont have that I've always wanted. I have 6 gibson les paul customs.
What's that on the headstock of yours Mike? I was telling Ben about it on Insta. I'm learning paradise city and watched your breakdown but I couldn't stop trying to look at the headstock lol
My son works at the Gibson factory in Nashville, TN. He makes sure any flaws in the finish are eliminated before the guitars get to the final stages. He probably had his hands on your “Black Beauty.” They have really tried hard to turn things around there at Gibson and I think they have. Hope you love yours, as much as I love mine. Rock On!
@@shelbychilingirian1479I just bought a Les Paul Tribute and it’s about 90% as well playing/sounding as my Suhr’s. I wasn’t planning on buying a Gibson but this guitar blew my mind. Huge improvement from when I played them several years ago.
That opening jam sounded like a vintage Alice in Chains song. I could hear Layne singing along in my head. So rad, dude. And dude, I heard so many of my favourite riffs in this video. Still of the Night, The Thing that Should Not Be, Sad but True, Cloud Connected. Great stuff. Congrats on your bucket list axe. Also I like the Badlander the best. I love that tight, searing gain tone.
Congrats Ben! Man this brings back some memories! In 1992 , I was 18 working a fast food job and never thought in my wildest dreams that I would own a Les Paul custom, but I was able to work out a deal with my local music store for a White 1990 model and I’ve still have it to this day! So I completely understand your excitement! Awesome guitar!
Congrats on scoring that beautiful guitar, Uncle Ben. That is the exact guitar I've had - and loved - for decades. And now to really date myself: my black Gibson LP Custom with gold hardware purchased brand new, way, way back in the day cost a grand total of $600. Oh, how times have changed!
Ben, sweet vid! I too received my LP Custom from Sweetwater a year ago and love it!!! LA Kevin now in Hawai’i!!! Oh, I have many amps, love my Friedman Small Box, and your BE wins!
I had one in the late 80s. Got a job and saved up and got a black mid 80s Les Paul Custom and I was so stoked with it. I lost it in a fire (bushfires went through the area we lived in 1991). It's still the best guitar I ever owned.
I think your TH-cam videos are the single best for guitar on the internet. You’ve helped me learn new things more than any other channel or book. If anybody deserves their dream guitar it’s you, Thank you
Hell yeah man, I just got my alpine white Gibson Les Paul Custom about 3 months ago and I love it, it was my dream guitar too lol. Always happy to see people get the guitar they've always wanted
Congratulation , what a beauty, i have never had a Gibson Les Paul, i have had many guitars , Even my heros are gary M and Sykes, and offcourse Ben Eller, 🤘🤘 You deserve this guitar, look forward to some more videos with that beauty.
I feel happy for you Ben, cause I know how gladful it is for a player to have ended his quest and be "there"! As a believer in massive, non-chambered wood, I can fully understand your excitement. There is no thicker, more fullfilling tone as from a massive mahogany body, warm and overwhelming. Unrivaled! My very best congratulations!
AIC-style intro complete with 7/8 time. Beautiful Black Beauty Ben -- congrats! As far as combo of LP and amps used -- for straight up ball crushing tone the Rectifier is tops for me, but the BE100 sounds amazing and I love that tone. Gotta have both! My first time hearing the Badlander -- it definitely sounds good but, I don't know,...I like the authenticity of the other two. You're riffing soloing madness sounded equally good on it though.
Congratulations Uncle Ben on your new addition to the Eller family. I know it always feels like a Ten day when you get one of your dream axe's that you have always wanted. I have thirty Bass's that I have always dreamed of owning. Stay safe and well and keep Rocking. Signed John Gregory Zepbass from Munster Indiana.
The aesthetic of this instrument that can either fit in with the tuxedo-jazz-cat crowd, or dominate metal like a cold & professional hit- man. The name on the headstock may polarize the opinions of some, but I cannot deny that the design has a mojo that has worked enough to create big hits by artists who definitely know what they are doing. This elusive mojo may very well be much more important than affordable perfection because we need guitarists to be songwriters again. When a guitar inspires you to write real music, go for it! Awesome riff, and a very hearty congratulations!
I want one of those so fucking baaaad!..ugh. Seeing you play and how much you enjoy it makes my heart happy dude.. You look genuinely happy and complete with that thing in your hands. Keep rockin' bro 🤘🎸❤
I was thinking the same. I've never really liked the Les Paul-feel, but I've only ever played an Epiphone. I prefer shred machines with thinner necks and lighter bodies. Ben, what is it that you "realized" that made Les Paul the shizzzniz?
I have the White one..the best guitar I've ever owned or played..same thing..was a bucket list item as well, and I couldn't be happier with it. Congrats dude!
Got a Black LPC myself, except with nickel hardware and pickups. I love the contrast on the black finish with "silver" hardware. Nothing beats an LPC imo
It's my rich Uncle Ben!!!! I've never been a fan of Les Pauls and I am now drooling! Glad you were able to get a bucket list guitar, it is a great feeling. Great showcase of tones through different amps.
There you go, Uncle Ben!! So cool! It’s strange. I also have a dream guitar that I can get but still haven’t over the years. It’s a Gibson as well and I had the same worries you did but now I think this should be the year. Happy for you, kind sir! Always been a dream guitar for me as well ever since early 2000s In Flames. Can't afford the real deal but I have a black Japanese made Tokai LP Custom with the seemingly more rare ebony fretboard option. So I feel your excitement! I swapped out the pups for a SD '59 and Custom. Thing is a beast!
YASSSSS LOUDNESS! Akira freakin' rules. I love this look, too, but I had to go the inexpensive route: a black w/gold LTD EC-256, which turned out to be much better than I expected for the $$$.

Congratulations, the customers my favorite guitar. I can’t afford a Gibson but a FGN was in the budget. All in black with silver hardware and, loaded with Seymour Duncan, whole Lotta, it’s an amazing instrument.
Yes the custom is my favorite guitar. Ive had one since the early 70's and others through out the years. Thanks for the video. Got a 68 rwissue comming from sweetwater.

Congrats on the LP custom, its always an awesome feeling when you finally get to own one. I sold a bunch of my gear to be able to obtain mine, a 80 silverburst custom. Now I want a R9
Snagged a Gibson Les Paul Axcess with Floyd Rose in VOS black. Took 10 years off my life working OT like crazy but when I got it and plugged it in and played my first chord on it, I was in heaven. There’s definitely a feel and vibe to a guitar like this that you don’t quite ‘get’ until it’s in your hands. Good luck with your baby. Beautiful.
You have absolutely earned the rights to that honor, without question! Congratulations!! I have learned so much from you; much appreciation, and thanks!

Not really, $600 in the late 60's or 70's would be about $5k today.
I remember my parents bought a brand new car in 1969 for $2500.
Pretty sure the 490 and 498 are the same pickups on my '98 LP Studio. I've had it for 15 years and it is still the best sounding axe I own.
