I don't think you can get any better sound for a Les Paul than this example. It's absolute killer. It's warm sounding, clear note for note separation even in high gain, sustain for years, long tanon, ebony fretboard. Custom shop are doing fantastic guitars these days if not better than ever before. I suspect in the future this would be the best era for Gibson especially for custom shop Gibson Les Paul custom guitars.
I bought one a year ago. The very best decision I ever made. It's by far my favorite and most played guitar. I did have Custom Shop 68 pickups put in it. I don't know why Gibson puts a cheap set of $200 - 490/498 pickups in a $5K Custom Shop. My LP Custom and my Friedman BE0100 Deluxe & JCM800 is my Rig for life.
The "standard" Les Paul Custom does have 9-hole swiss cheese relief, believe it or not. Posted right there on Gibson's website. Regardless of that, nice video, man!
Nope. Gibson had a mistake on their website and copied wrong Infos of the Axcess to the Custom. Now it writes "As the flagship model from Gibson Custom Shop, the Les Paul Custom lives up to the high standards set by its 1950s archetype while evolving to a level of tone and performance more suited to today's musical demands. Beneath the layers of its "tuxedo" appointments lies the crisp, edgy voice of a matched 490/498 humbucker set, a solid Ebony fingerboard, a long neck tenon of maximum sustain and two-piece maple top over a solid mahogany body which adds the perfect amount of sonic bite to everything from jazz to hard rock. It sounds as it looks, and it looks as good as it sounds."
@guitarnerd_luke Interesting. From 1980s through till today, the "standard" Les Paul Custom had Swiss cheese holes, whilst the 54, 57, 68, and other Historic Custom reissues were solid body. Good to know!

I would buy one if I could make it sing like you do.
I'm still putzing around with my black '89 Standard. Plays like a dream, tho
