random thought came into my mind - can i walk into mexico? your video made feel like i was there walking myself... thanks! although you did ignore the sign which said no photography/video. :D
I would think the Mexican government (maybe the US gov't, too?) wanted to suppress images of that shantytown (is it still there?) underneath the pedestrian bridge. Last time I was there, it was obvious, filthy, and a very bad stain on both nations.
Back when I was in the Navy out there (85-89) the taxi ride was $5.00. Didn't matter which one you picked the price was always the same. The trolly ride down from 6th street was $1.25.
I am thinking about visiting TJ, definitely wouldn't want to sit in my car for four hours to cross the border. Thank you for posting this video, very informative!!!!

Awesome!! I don't know about any hostels but just make sure that the neighborhood its in is safe. There are a lot of bad neighborhoods in TJ. I've been to the boarder beach, its surreal and beautiful. There is a park on the US side where every now and then people on the US side are allowed to go and visit their families through the boarder fence. The beach on the Mexico side is beautiful and full of restaurants. Thats great that you want to donate money to charity. There are a lot of people in need, I'm sure you'll find a good charity. Let me know when you go, maybe we could meet up.
Here's an update. The boarder beach "Playas" is were the Hondurans migrants are currently staying. This area is a little unstable, please keep this in mind before going. Happy Thanksgiving to Australia ;)
Thanks so much for your videos on how to cross into Mexico, and how to cross from Mexico back into the United States. They are very informative. I am a totally blind individual, and I probably made History a couple years ago when I crossed by myself from San Ysidro to Tijuana to visit some friends there for the day. I have family in the San Diego area, so I always try to at least go to the border, and make at least one crossing. It is just so unique to me to be able to go to another country for the afternoon or what not and come back. Anyway, again thanks for the videos
It makes me happy to hear that this video helped you. There are many people who let fear stop them from living their life, I'm glad that you are not one of them ;) How was your trip to Mexico?
I’ve actually gone to Mexico twice since 2016, though I only crossed by myself in November 2016. I had an awesome time on both trips. It is absolutely amazing to me to see the instant change in culture when you cross the border. I look forward to hopefully doing it again possibly later this year. I am a bit of a technology nerd, so one interesting thing I was surprised, was how well United States cellular carriers covered at the border. I actually wanted to Rome to a Mexican carrier on the United States side, but Verizon anyway, covers so well down there, that I did not lock onto a Mexican cellular carrier until I was probably a quarter mile into Mexico. Wow.
I'm glad you had fun. I've traveled to a few places in Latin American with my friend who has Verizon and he got reception just about everywhere, I didn't :( My signal in TJ is decent in most places.
Im driving down to San diego from nor cal to visit tijuana in a couple weeks i was wondering where should i park to walk across the border ? or should i park in san diego and take public transit to the boarder ?
If you're staying a few hours, you can park at one of the pay parking lots at the last USA exits "Camino De La Plaza Rd" off the 5 Freeway. They charge around $7 on Mon-Fri and $20 Fri-Sun for about 8 hours. You can park a few miles away and take an Uber or the Trolley. The trolley ends right at the border. Are you visiting friends? Or are you doing a weekend vacation?
Everyone in TJ will accept US dollars. There are a few places to exchange money on the US side right next to the border. I only exchange money if I'm going deep into Mexico. Have a good time.
@@betoestrada6980 Thanks, could I use it to walk across aswell? I plan on moving down to Tijuana an wanted to see what would be more convenient for me. I applogize if its a dumb question but I asked at the post office and they confuse me even more lol.
Everyone in TJ will accept US dollars. There are a few places to exchange money on the US side right next to the border. I only exchange money if I'm going deep into Mexico.
i went there to day but didn't cross. the construction is complete. US authorities told me you can use a passport, possibly the Real ID or the passport card. I plan to try crossing in the future...
@Jonathan Ochoa This answer is in regards to returning to the US the short answer is "yes" The long answer is that it all depends on the CBP agent that you get on your way back. Everyone of the agents will ask you why you don't have a passport and play 20 questions with you, why you went there, what are you bringing back, simple stuff like that. Now almost all of the agents are pretty chill, but if you get unlucky you might get someone who will be VERY uptight that you need a passport to cross. After which you would probably go into a secondary inspection. Regardless of anything you should not be denied re-entry. P.s. be nice to the CBP agents they all have a very difficult job and are pretty chill, they don't deserve someone trying to be a badass.
I would still rather WALK over to the pedestrian bridge to cross the main lanes of traffic, instead of taking a taxi. What is the soonest you can get out of that line to the taxi cabs and cut across to the pedestrian bridge? There use to be a McDonalds just on the other side of that pedestrian bridge.
@@Abel_XL Per this video. You are walking from US to Mexico. Before new construction, you would exit and there would be a pedestrian bridge that would take you over the CAR traffic heading in both directions (on the Mexican side). Now, they make you walk ALL the way to the Taxi area BEFORE you are allowed to walk back toward that pedestrian bridge? Based on your video, it looks that way.
@@Abel_XL In your other video (Mexico, back to USA) at the 2:25 mark, there is the pedestrian bridge I'm talking about. You have to go all the way to the Taxi area, then turn back to get to this spot now? There is no 'shortcut' if you don't want to take a taxi, but would rather walk over to the other side of that road by taking that pedestrian bridge?
If you walk across to Mexico, the Mexican customs agent will ask for your passport. If you don't have it, they may send you back. I would recommend that you have your passport when you want to travel to another county.
You only need ether the passport booklet or the passport card if you are going to Mexico. If you are planning on going to other countries besides Mexico, then you should consider bringing your passport booklet.
The answer to your question is Yes but Mexico has relaxed their position on Visas lately. I have crossed a few times now and they just ask to see my Passport then just wave me through. Visas are issued to you by the Mexican border agents at the time when you are crossing, if they don't require you to get one, then they will not ask you to fill out the forms. I think they are realizing that it costs way too much to have to print out all those Visas.
The only times that I change money is when I go far into Mexico. Also, the exchange rate is usualy cheaper at the exchange houses than at shops, so you can save a little more money.
I only went pre 9-11 so there wasn't a stop going into Mexico (though there was the building with the lines, x-rays, interrogators for the return back). But I seem to remember, to go into Mexico, multiple turnstiles, and a long assed pedestrian bridge. (Something in my mind says that I paid a dime to leave the U.S. too.) Am I confusing all this with Nueveo Laredo? Or if not, where is the pedestrian bridge route compared to going this way?
A lot has changed in the last few years. Yup, there use to be turnstiles but there are gone now. There also use to be a pedestrian bridge but it was also removed. I've never been to Nueveo Laredo, its it easy to walk into Mexico or do they inspect you?
@@Abel_XL Again, been a while, since before the 9-11 changes so I can't intelligently comment on that presently. Thanks for replying and the great work, in the name of research!
I don't know the answer to that question. I know that the Mexican Customs is going to ask you for a passport to get into Mexico if your not a Mexican citizen.
Are you a permanent resident? Then yes, you should be able to enter mexico and return to the US. P.s. if you have data in Mexico download uber and ALLWAYS take uber over ANY taxi. In general taxis try to take advantage of tourists coming to visit. On average an uber is 20-50% cheaper than taxis in TJ and from my experience a whole ton more honest.
I plan on going back for first time since 2018 Looking forward to hooking up with Mexican or Colombian or venezuala gorgeous Latina maybe be my other half in future
The Sentri program allows low risk people the ability to use a fast lane to cross into the US. There is another program that I like a little better and does the slimier things, its called the GOES pass. They both include a fee, interview and a background check. Are you planning on getting one?
The Mexican officials will usually ask to see your passport when you walk across. They havent starting asking to see passports when driving across but I think thats about to change.
Do you remember TJ back around the 80s? Ive shown a couple ppl photos this year and they see a night and day difference. Av Rev looked real rundown and wasnt paved, they said.
I was born in the 80's so I can't say I remember it back then. My memories of Av Rev is from my college days, it was a booming place back then, not so much now.
Will it be smart to walk into Mexico around midnight? I'm from Houston and my flight arrives to San Diego around 10:30pm I'm planning to take an uber all way to the border and then cross it and stay in TJ at the closest hotel.. good idea?
U should be good, maybe go with a friend to be more secure. Also be careful, don't engage in conversation with anyone on your way to the hotel, and be prepared to run if you are in a bad situation. Hope all goes well.
They typically want to make sure travelers are safe near the boarder crossing. There are taxis near the boarder that you can take. Usually there is a lot of people in that area but not sure if their will be people at that time. Its like any city, there are bad people everywhere. I've been in that area even later than 12am, I speak Spanish, so there is that difference. Have fun and stay safe.
I bought a couple of those permits when taking trips to Mazatlan over the years. These permits are a joke, not at any point in time on my vacation, did anyone ask to see my permit, they didn't even know that the permit existed. I had a cousin just refuse to buy one and she never got hassled.
Yup, if you walk into Mexico, the Mexican boarder agents will ask for your Passport, if you are a non Mexican citizen. If you are a Mexican citizen, they will just let you walk on by, but the Mexican agents will do "random" checks on those people. I would not recommend that you try to sneek by, there could be very bad consequences.
I've called cabs from the streets. I guess that there could be people pretending to be taxis and then rob you. Not sure what to say about it except for be careful hailing a cab. BTW, Uber exists in Mexico, you just need a data plan that works in that country.
You would have to walk West for several miles, its NOT a strait shot and you would have to make many turns. I don't recommend you walk there. I recommend that you take a taxi, it should only cost you around $5 usd.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Here is a video that shows how to cross back into the USA legally th-cam.com/video/0tI61sihSX4/w-d-xo.html I don't know how to cross into the USA illegally.
I walked in from San Ysidro in 1997, there was nothing but a fence with a turnstile to get in. No interaction with any Mexican officials at all. Just walked right on to the street, no building to go through.
When I go on vacation in Mexico, for longer than 7 days, I buy the visa. Its only when I get back to the airport in TJ do they ask to see my visa, I don't know what would happen if they asked and I didn't have one. The visa's are cheap and you can get one for up to 180 days.
URGENT question. my mom wants to go to TJ tomorrow and she is from mexico and she has her american/ mexican paper work (green card) but im 20 i only have a TX state ID and my sister 15 has a State ID as well. we dont have pass ports. are we able to enter TJ and then Re enter the US with just our ID's???
If you are walking into Mexico from San Diego, the Mexican gov requires you to show your passport. If you are crossing back into the US, you don't need a passport as long as you are a USA citizen but its still going to make it easier on you if you have a passport. You don't want US Customs to potentially hold you for hours to prove your identity.
I don't know people who have retired there but I do know people who live there, to save money on rent, then cross to go to work. I believe that you will need a Passport and some sort of special visa fro Mexico. The Visas that I am familiar with only allow non citizens to stay in Mexico for upto 180 days at a time. There might be longer visa but I would know about that. I hope this helps.
If they ask you for a passport and they don't believe you are a citizen, they can detain you or reject your entry. I would not recommend that you go down there without a passport.
if you just want a taxi for yourself like 4 or 5 dlls, if you dont mind sharing at the end of the yellow taxis there is a shuttle that charges like 70 cents to downtown
If you have a passport and a US visa, then it should be fine. Please contact a government official to confirm. If the video helped you, please consider giving it a like.
If a kid age 16 goes walking through there would it be a problem ? But ofc she/he would have there birth certificate and school ID with em and a permission note from guardian just in case would it be a problem?
I'm not sure what the rules are for minors to cross. I would suggest that you read up on the rules from a US gov website. If you do cross, remember to be safe and have a fun time.
Depending on the time and date when you cross. If you walk across into USA: The fastest would be around 10 mins and the slowest would be 4 + hours. Tuesday afternoon quick crossing. Sunday night, expect to wait a looooong time.
If you are a NON Mexican citizen, you DO need a passport to cross into Mexico. I forgot my passport once, the held me for a about 30 mins and then let me into Mexico. This was a couple years back when they had just adopted the mandatory Passport checks. I do NOT recommend you do that, they could keep you for hours then send you back into the US.
I haven't tried them. I would guess that they do. Some people don't have an international plan so when they cross the boarder, they can just pay to make a single call rather than upgrade their whole cell phone plan.
What's there to do in the border town? I feel like going over to Mexico for like an hour or two just to say I did it, but am not sure what I'd do to kill time there before crossing back over.
There is a lot to do. There is a Culture Center with art and a museum. There is a ton of food, check out my last few videos, I go to a few different restaurants in Tijuana. There is a Casino, in Mexico Sports Beating is legal. Many different bars and dance clubs. Let me know what you end up doing in Tijuana.
If you have the passport card, you do not need the passport book in Tijuana. The passport card is only good for a few countries so if you plan on flying out of Tijuana into another country, I would recommend to bring your Passport Book.
Hello do we have to have to have a passport to go in just for a day coming back the same day, we are planning to go with our identification cards birth certificates, will Mexico for sure won't let us in if we don't have a passport.
If you are driving into Mexico, they wont ask you for your passport. If you walk across, they WILL ask you for your passport. If you don't have it, they will send you to secondary and you will have to wait hours until they decide weather to let you enter Mexico or kick you back to the US. Having your ID card and Birth Certificates may influence them to let you into Mexico but its not a 100% for sure thing. I hope that helps.
Ohh, the good old days!! These passport rules only started about 2 years ago. It use to be the same way here where they didn't care and I could just cross without a peep. I hope they don't impose these rules in Nuevo Laredo.
If you are are taking a bus into Mexico, they may or may not ask you all to get out for inspection. They should be able to tell you how to get back on the bus.
Actually, my experience with greyhound was very different, we did got out for inspection very brielfy, didn't recognize any of the port's you went through. Fortunately, everything was on time and went smoothly. Nonetheless, thank you for your video.
Dual? Mexico dont let u have that. We waited. 6 years they told us so 6 came.upon. and we lived there payin. Money monthly. ..you know.how much. Dinero we.paid? ..... A lot we were 5 people ok. ...so.they told us. We Cant become mexicans. But they were so happy to charge us a lot and make us wait and ask us to spit. And gave up our. Flag. ..welll. Thank God I am not mejicana. I kept my. Nationality and became citizen from a Great Country. !!! Here they did appreciatted. Us ❤
So I haven't been to Tijuana in a very long time since I was a little girl I'm wondering do I need a passport to get back home or can I just take my birth certificate in my California ID??
If you're a US citizen then they can't stop you from reentering the US. If you want to show them your ID and birth certificate, i'm sure they will look at it. In order to walk into Mexico, the Mexican Customs Agent will ask you to show them a passport. If you don't have it, they can send you back into the US.
I have a question. Can I walk through to Mexico with only my ID and birth certificate? I have a passport but it's ripped. My brother also wants to come but he's under 18 Does he need a passport?
I use to be able to just walk into Mexico with out having to show anything to the officials. But over the last few years they have upped the restrictions. I once forgot to bring my Passport and they sent me to their secondary inspection. I sat there for about 20 mins until they asked me a few questions and then decided to let me cross into Mexico. They told me since I'm not a Mexican citizen, that I needed to show them my passport next time I crossed or else they wouldn't allow me to enter. I have brought my passport with me ever since that day. There has been a few times when I crossed that they just waved me by without looking at my passport, I don't know if the agent was lazy or if they were told to hurry everyone along. So to answer your question, I don't know if the Mexican agents will allow you to cross without your passport. I don't know if your ID and birth certificate will be enough for them since they don't have access to the US California ID data base. I don't know what the regulations are for minors to enter Mexico without a parent. I would suggest you look at an official Mexico government website that deals with entering Mexico as a non citizen. I would also recommend that the both of you have, at minimum, a passport when crossing. I hope that helps.
I’d NEVER go into a foreign country without my American passport. Maybe they wave u in. That’s not the issue. Important to have it to GET BACK INTO America
If you're walking to Mexico, the Mexican customs is going to ask you for your passport, and if you dont have it, them may reject you from entering. If you are a US citizen, the US can not stop you from entering the US. Bring you Drivers License and Birth Certificate if you like. I would recommend that you bring your passport when traveling to Mexico.
Abel Aramburo I am. But I have a felony on my record and Iv read a lot of people getting denied at the airport going into Cancun. I was seeing if they actually scan and run a check on everyday going into Mexico.
I don't know if the Mexican Border Agents have access to the US criminal database. You would have to check on some Government website to find the answer to that. I hop they let you cross.
Hoy hace una semana q crucé la frontera por este mismo lugar. Tuve mucha suerte de q no haya nadie , sólo dos mujeres q me pidieron DI. No me preguntaron nada más. Fue muy rápido todo!!. Y no hubo tanta gente cruzando. Sólo una mujer y yo. Gracias por el vídeo, supe q hacer. Saludos.
There are many in TJ. You can catch a 5 min uber/taxi ride to a near by hotel. There is a Casino call Caliente Pueblo Amigo in walking distance from the boarder.
Yea, there are a few Motels/Hotels on the US side. Some can be very undesirable so make sure you check yelp first. I've never stayed at any of them since I live near the boarder. Thanks for Subscribing ;)
Abel Aramburo thank you your video videos are so helpful went there last week too bad I didn’t get to cross the border I was only stop at where every Mexican get their permit?I don’t really know where and what I was only there to get I-94 we took I35 till end I think Laredo?
My friend in 2014 she cross the frontier she went from el salvador to mexicon and from mexico to here and she was only six sbe says it was hard and now their going to report her and im really sad😭😭😭
Revolution is a few miles West of the end of this video. I have never walked there and I probably never will...willingly. A bus will take you there for under a $1 usd, or a Taxi for $5 or an Uber if you have a data plan that works in Mexico.
Wow really? I remember walking there from the turnstiles and it was really easy. I went last year and had to do this long walk and was lost when I got to this point lol. I'll grab a taxi. Thanks!
A lot of people do that to save money. I know a few US citizens that live in TJ, pay a lot less in rent then in San Diego, then cross the boarder to work. They run into issue in crossing, sometimes it can take them a couple hours to cross into the US, which means that they leave to go to work around 430 am to get to work at 7am. I would look into the leagal issue first before making the move.
This is a great video and very helpful. I have a quick question. I'm planning on visiting TJ for a day and come back. So when you cross the border I saw you went through like a passport control. Do they stamp your passport? Also, any ATM's on the Mexico side for me to get some Pesos? Thanks in advance
The Mexican customs agent may or may not stamp your passport depending on how they feel. If you have the Passport Card then there is no stamp required. I would recommend that you exchange money before you get to Mexico. There are a few money exchange places on the US side just before you cross. Pick one of them, hand they cash and they hand you Pesos. Also, just about everywhere you go in TJ, they accept US dollars. Most times I go to TJ, I don't exchange any money, I just pay in USD. Its a good idea to have some peso just in case. I hope this helped. Let me know how your trip goes.
Hi there, I don’t know about the pedestrian crossing but I cross the driving one at least once a week. From my experience a good time is a weekday. However, the last two Sunday’s I came back at around 7 and I crossed pretty quickly.
On this visit I used my passport book and it did get stamped. I have recently received my passport card, its easier to carry around because it fits in my wallet.
Juan Romero How about going to TJ with only the Green Card, is that possible for non Mexican non US citizen people? Do we need our national passport along with the Green Card or just the Green Card to cross walking to TJ? Thanks
Walton Interchange every time I cross the border I get an Uber. Make sure you walk a little further from the taxis (where the video ended), and order it at the outskirts. There's been issues where Taxis and Ubers fight for competition.
I've used Uber once in Mexico and it worked just like Uber anywhere else. The Taxis Drivers Don't like Uber and can cause you some trouble. Make sure to call one a way from all the Taxis. The yellow taxis that I told you to avoid in the video are no longer there. From what I hear, an American told one of them that they didn't want to pay their high price so he was going to call an Uber. This made the taxi driver upset enough to start a fight. I also hear that many Taxi drivers jumped in and severely hurt the American. Because Mexico makes a lot of money from tourism, they don't want tourist to get scare and not visit so they banned the yellow taxis from being able to pick people up from that part of the boarder.
Good video, useful information. I plan on visiting TJ in the next couple of months. I'm considering catching a trolley from the San Ysidro Transit Center to the Mexican border. Will it be dropping me off at the trolley stops shown in the beginning of your video? I'm just wondering what to expect. Thanks.
I don't know where the San Ysidro Transit Center is but if you take the blue line trolley all the way to its last stop "San Ysidro", it will take you to the place in the beginning of my video. Make sure you bring your passport. I made a video on how to cross back into the US, you should check it out. If you are taking a taxi back to the boarder while in Mexico, make sure to tell them you want the "Liña Vieja" or "Old Boarder Crossing". There is a new boarder crossing (PedWest) that is popular which is just a few miles from were I made this video. If they drop you off at PedWest, you will have to take a long walk back to the trolley. Have fun and stay safe my friend.
Is that PedWest in front of the outlets? I use that one and yes you have to walk a lot from the trolley to the border but I can see your way is easier.
The last time I took a tour bus into Mexico, the Mexican officials walked into the bus and asked to look at our passports. I'm not sure they would have refused use entry but this was many years ago. As far as I know, they haven't started checking peoples passport that drive into Mexico.
Visited for the first time a few months ago, drove through the border, and it was a miserable drive. This was very helpful, thanks!

I am going with a cousin to check out the sights and if I'm planning to stay on the main Street should I bother bringing pesos or use dollars ?
Everyone in TJ will accept US dollars. There are a few places to exchange money on the US side right next to the border. I only exchange money if I'm going deep into Mexico.
Have a good time.
Thanks for the info dude really appreciate the vid !
No problem, any time.
I am looking forward to going back to Mexico since 2018 my last visit there
Can not wait to buy nice Mexican gifts for my friends in usa
Just take city bus very very cheap
Taxi libre they called is who you want
Taxi livres
all good info thanks. we were thinking about moving to tj.
So I'm about to do this for the first time but my passport is expired 😬 will they turn me away for that?
The Mexican customs agent might turn you back. They are getting strict about the passports.
Is it better to cross with a passport book or card? I heard with a card its faster?
yes!
@@betoestrada6980 Thanks!
card is better and so much smaller. lol
@@betoestrada6980 Thanks, could I use it to walk across aswell? I plan on moving down to Tijuana an wanted to see what would be more convenient for me. I applogize if its a dumb question but I asked at the post office and they confuse me even more lol.
yes of course you can use it to walk. lol
Everyone in TJ will accept US dollars. There are a few places to exchange money on the US side right next to the border. I only exchange money if I'm going deep into Mexico.
Yup. I really only get pesos if i go deep too.
i went there to day but didn't cross. the construction is complete. US authorities told me you can use a passport, possibly the Real ID or the passport card. I plan to try crossing in the future...
Will the passport ID card will work for this? Do I need a passport book if I am only doing land travel in Mexico?
The passport ID card should work. Its the one that I like to use when I cross.
Thanks
Wow things sure have changed since I walked into TJ from San Diego in 2015 summer. The only thing I recognized was the money exchange.
Lots of change going on down there.
Can I be able to walk across just with my birth certificate and ID??
The Mexican Customs Agents are asking people for their passport and if you don't provide it, they will send you back. I wouldn't risk it.
@@Abel_XL I guess I got lucky I was there last week and only had my Driver License the only thing he asked was what city was I born in. ..
@Jonathan Ochoa
This answer is in regards to returning to the US
the short answer is "yes"
The long answer is that it all depends on the CBP agent that you get on your way back.
If I have time go to interior of Mexico city of guadaljara in bus from Tijuana for
I would still rather WALK over to the pedestrian bridge to cross the main lanes of traffic, instead of taking a taxi. What is the soonest you can get out of that line to the taxi cabs and cut across to the pedestrian bridge? There use to be a McDonalds just on the other side of that pedestrian bridge.
I'm not sure I understand, are you talking about the US side or Mexico side?
Do you need a passport to cross back and forth now?
If you walk across to Mexico, the Mexican customs agent will ask for your passport. If you don't have it, they may send you back. I would recommend that you have your passport when you want to travel to another county.
Abel XL so I should drive across
Abel, I have de blue passport , and card as well , which one do i need Im planning to go to Tijuana only for the weekend , Tx!
You only need ether the passport booklet or the passport card if you are going to Mexico. If you are planning on going to other countries besides Mexico, then you should consider bringing your passport booklet.
@@Abel_XL , thank you for your reply, since Im only going to TJ I will bring only the passport card , Tx again!
Cool, have fun and stay safe.
I want to hang out at my favorite club in zona Norte adelitas cantina an brothel

Thanks, I'm glad that you liked the video.
Is it pretty much the same after they updated? I went about a year ago and I thought that this was still the exact way that we walked in
Thanks for the update.
I have an enhanced drivers license can i use that to enter Mexico?
The Mexican agents can reject you if you don't show them a passport.
I'm a US citizen planning to visit TJ as a day trip. Do I need to get a visa before crossing?
The answer to your question is Yes but Mexico has relaxed their position on Visas lately. I have crossed a few times now and they just ask to see my Passport then just wave me through. Visas are issued to you by the Mexican border agents at the time when you are crossing, if they don't require you to get one, then they will not ask you to fill out the forms. I think they are realizing that it costs way too much to have to print out all those Visas.
i am happy you fuzzed out people to protect their ID. very respectful.
Passport card valid too so tell people that too.
yea thanks
I have a question for you, did u went there again during covid?
yes, but not walking
I don't know why there's a money exchange. All the shops and whatnot I went to all took american dollar.
Thanks, glad to help.
Hi! I'm Just a greencard holder. Can I get back to the US after crossing without the US passport?
I don't know the answer to that question. I know that the Mexican Customs is going to ask you for a passport to get into Mexico if your not a Mexican citizen.
Are you a permanent resident?
Then yes, you should be able to enter mexico and return to the US.
P.s. if you have data in Mexico download uber and ALLWAYS take uber over ANY taxi.
In general taxis try to take advantage of tourists coming to visit. On average an uber is 20-50% cheaper than taxis in TJ and from my experience a whole ton more honest.
Is the aeroportuaria far from there?
Yea. The airport is closer to the Otay Boarder Crossing.
Thank you.
I plan on going back for first time since 2018
Looking forward to hooking up with Mexican or Colombian or venezuala gorgeous Latina maybe be my other half in future
What’s a sentri card?
The Sentri program allows low risk people the ability to use a fast lane to cross into the US. There is another program that I like a little better and does the slimier things, its called the GOES pass. They both include a fee, interview and a background check.
Are you planning on getting one?
Did you need to show your passport to actually get into Mexico?? it seems so easy to get into Mexico by walking
The Mexican officials will usually ask to see your passport when you walk across. They havent starting asking to see passports when driving across but I think thats about to change.
I went over once, about 30.Years.ago!
There was much less restrictions hack then.
@@Abel_XL Yes, it must be crazy now!
@@Abel_XL thanks you too

2:45 no photography.
Thats odd, I'm pretty sure they have cameras all over that place.
If you pay for the 500 peso permit good for 6 months from purchase you can use it to walk in the Mexico line with your passport.
I bought a couple of those permits when taking trips to Mazatlan over the years. These permits are a joke, not at any point in time on my vacation, did anyone ask to see my permit, they didn't even know that the permit existed. I had a cousin just refuse to buy one and she never got hassled.
@@Abel_XL the 6 months one is free when flying into Mexico, right?
So am I understanding that even to walk into Mexico one must have a Passport in order to get that day Visa that was mentioned?
Yup, if you walk into Mexico, the Mexican boarder agents will ask for your Passport, if you are a non Mexican citizen. If you are a Mexican citizen, they will just let you walk on by, but the Mexican agents will do "random" checks on those people. I would not recommend that you try to sneek by, there could be very bad consequences.
Is it true that I should never hail cabs from the street. That I should go to a sitio and get a cab there?
I've called cabs from the streets. I guess that there could be people pretending to be taxis and then rob you. Not sure what to say about it except for be careful hailing a cab. BTW, Uber exists in Mexico, you just need a data plan that works in that country.
if you have a medical card can you take a quarter of weed with you if you walk thru
Cali Blood hell no, I’m bringing a oil cartridge through though.
They have a dog when you walk in.
so cartridges are the way to go then
Cali Blood yeah, try to get raw distillate carts or those flavored ones. They look and smell like a vape.

I will be going to Mexico for two months this winter get out icy box my state of ohio
nice. there are really nice placees in mexico to visit in the winter
How would I walk from where the taxis are to the famous arch?
You would have to walk West for several miles, its NOT a strait shot and you would have to make many turns. I don't recommend you walk there. I recommend that you take a taxi, it should only cost you around $5 usd.
That's easy but how do you do it from Mexico in to the USA with out proper documentation ?
I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Here is a video that shows how to cross back into the USA legally th-cam.com/video/0tI61sihSX4/w-d-xo.html
I don't know how to cross into the USA illegally.
I walked in from San Ysidro in 1997, there was nothing but a fence with a turnstile to get in. No interaction with any Mexican officials at all. Just walked right on to the street, no building to go through.
I remember those days! Bureaucracy will strangle the world.
it was a simpler time
I was there in the late 80s, and yes, it was a breeze to get through.
That 'turnstile' was still there as late as 2008, I want to say. Not sure exactly when they did away with it.
Do you know where there is free parking? I know I found free street parking once but it was 1 year ago and now I can’t remember where it was!
There is street parking about a mile away. Pay parking Mon-Thur cost around $10. Fri-Sun cost about $20.

What happens if you say you will only be in Mexico for 6 days, but really plan to stay 30 days but don't want to pay for a Visa?
Alexis Escobar yeah I just went there like that
If you are walking into Mexico from San Diego, the Mexican gov requires you to show your passport. If you are crossing back into the US, you don't need a passport as long as you are a USA citizen but its still going to make it easier on you if you have a passport. You don't want US Customs to potentially hold you for hours to prove your identity.
How about if one went to retire to Mexico to you till the border patrol that . Do you need a passport or a visa
I have a dual citizenship and going for an emergency, so do I still need a passport ? I also have the enhanced real ID
If they ask you for a passport and they don't believe you are a citizen, they can detain you or reject your entry. I would not recommend that you go down there without a passport.
Abel XL took this route, didn’t have an issue
Great to hear. Did you have a good time in Mexico?
Abel XL absolutely man, thanks for educating people the way you do. No lie it’s really helpful that you’re able to use this platform the way you do.
How much should a taxi cost on average from the border to Avenida Revolución
Ashley Fuerte 4 dllrs is common, very few charge 3, mostly its 5, some taxi drovers rip white people off 😂..it also deoends how busy they are
It costs about $5. Make sure you negotiate the price before you get into the taxi.
if you just want a taxi for yourself like 4 or 5 dlls, if you dont mind sharing at the end of the yellow taxis there is a shuttle that charges like 70 cents to downtown
Hello sir, suppose one person from Indian passport holder can take USA visa on that way of custom center USA Mexico border area ?
If you have a passport and a US visa, then it should be fine. Please contact a government official to confirm. If the video helped you, please consider giving it a like.
If a kid age 16 goes walking through there would it be a problem ? But ofc she/he would have there birth certificate and school ID with em and a permission note from guardian just in case would it be a problem?
I'm not sure what the rules are for minors to cross. I would suggest that you read up on the rules from a US gov website.
If you do cross, remember to be safe and have a fun time.

I walk the way you take to go to Tijuana
Sweet. If the video helped, please consider giving it a like.
Chicago club an cantina Norteno too
So how long more less does it take to cross without a sentri card
Is it worth walking over without Sentri card
Depending on the time and date when you cross. If you walk across into USA: The fastest would be around 10 mins and the slowest would be 4 + hours. Tuesday afternoon quick crossing. Sunday night, expect to wait a looooong time.
Its definitely worth crossing without a Sentri card as long as you go during low traffic hours.
Lol at the background music

Abel Aramburo what is the name? It’s funny
do you need a passport to walk through the border crossing into mexico
If you are a NON Mexican citizen, you DO need a passport to cross into Mexico.
I forgot my passport once, the held me for a about 30 mins and then let me into Mexico. This was a couple years back when they had just adopted the mandatory Passport checks. I do NOT recommend you do that, they could keep you for hours then send you back into the US.
Do those pay phones actually work?
I haven't tried them. I would guess that they do. Some people don't have an international plan so when they cross the boarder, they can just pay to make a single call rather than upgrade their whole cell phone plan.
If you are driving do you need a passport to get into Mexico?
The answer is yes but they rarely stop cars to check for passports. I would recommend that you do bring a passport when entering another country.
Houses of ill repute?
Once I get a passport card, is there any reason at all to carry my passport book into Tijuana?
I'll be going to Tijuana this week, where would I meet my greyhound bus after I cross the border ?
If you are are taking a bus into Mexico, they may or may not ask you all to get out for inspection. They should be able to tell you how to get back on the bus.
Actually, my experience with greyhound was very different, we did got out for inspection very brielfy, didn't recognize any of the port's you went through. Fortunately, everything was on time and went smoothly. Nonetheless, thank you for your video.
I'm glad it went smoothly. Where did you go in Mexico?
If your dual do I take foreigner or Mexican line?
If you are a Mexican citizen, you take the line on the left. Sometimes the Border Agent will ask for your Mexican credentials.
Us ❤
I'm sorry to hear that they took a lot of money from you. I hope that you got it all figured out now.
Elizabeth Gutierrez you will get back in but they will harass you and give you a lecture to get your passport
I have a question. Can I walk through to Mexico with only my ID and birth certificate? I have a passport but it's ripped. My brother also wants to come but he's under 18
Does he need a passport?
If they wave you by without a passport, do you still request that free visa? I read if a TJ cop stops you, you gotta have both thr passport and visa
Does a copy of birth certificate work as good as the original one
I’d NEVER go into a foreign country without my American passport. Maybe they wave u in. That’s not the issue. Important to have it to GET BACK INTO America
Can I go to TJ and then come back to the US with just my birth certificate and California Driver License?
If you're walking to Mexico, the Mexican customs is going to ask you for your passport, and if you dont have it, them may reject you from entering.
If you are a US citizen, the US can not stop you from entering the US. Bring you Drivers License and Birth Certificate if you like.
I would recommend that you bring your passport when traveling to Mexico.

Could I rent in TJ but work in San Diego ?
Great thanks, Abel. And for sure I'll let you know
Awesome! Have lots of fun ;)
Best time to cross into US pedestrian and vehicle? Appreciate the info!
Hi there,
I don’t know about the pedestrian crossing but I cross the driving one at least once a week. From my experience a good time is a weekday. However, the last two Sunday’s I came back at around 7 and I crossed pretty quickly.
Pedestrian and Vehicle would be Monday-Thursday 10am-2am. Avoid the weekends.
Looks like you got lucky, Ive tried to cross on Sundays and its hell. Maybe the lockdowns have made it less busy.
I could of used this today
Well, I'm gald you made it with out having to watch the video.
It sounded like you got your passport stamped did you use your paper passport or did you use the passport card
On this visit I used my passport book and it did get stamped. I have recently received my passport card, its easier to carry around because it fits in my wallet.
can i re-enter the us with a green card as a us resident ?
Not sure, I haven't had any experience with crossing using green cards.
Yes you can, my family has done that multiple times since they have green cards
Juan Romero How about going to TJ with only the Green Card, is that possible for non Mexican non US citizen people?
Do we need our national passport along with the Green Card or just the Green Card to cross walking to TJ?

Is Uber any good in Mexico?
I used uber in Mexico City and it worked just like here in the US. The rides are really cheap too. I had no problems.
I use that one and yes you have to walk a lot from the trolley to the border but I can see your way is easier.
at the end on the line of yellow taxis theres a mini bus that charges you like .70 us cents to downtown TJ no 4 dlls for me ;)
Nice.
Is it different on a bus ?
The last time I took a tour bus into Mexico, the Mexican officials walked into the bus and asked to look at our passports. I'm not sure they would have refused use entry but this was many years ago.
As far as I know, they haven't started checking peoples passport that drive into Mexico.
Alright thanks
So I'm guessing the yellow cars are the legit Taxis and the non yellow cars are rogue cabs?
Both are legit taxis but that doesn't mean that there can't be rogue ones of ether color.
Well damn...I guess I have to be careful when hailing a cab. >_>
white cabs. stay away from yellow
Our white van was 3 Pecos to be driven to front of pedestrian line and dumped out. After driver said he would take us across border.
