The radio goes in the top slot, bottom one is for the center bose speaker.
The phrase on the gas cap is french. My only guess would be that because parts of Canada like Quebec speak French so maybe its a North American market thing. Id have to confirm by looking at the jdm, aus, and euro market versions.

11:05 - Figured I'd note as someone with further electrical experience, those twist-on connectors themselves aren't bad, it's usually just the idiots using them for everything that are. They only work just as intended with thicker solid core copper wires, like what's used in the walls of a home for connecting lightswitches/electrical outlets, most automotive applications opt for stranded wire because many strands conduct better than one solid core line - and of course, the twist-on connector is meant for solid core, not stranded wire.

car is finally taking shape, especially with those green plate lights gone (although it's kinda sad since they were funny). and those speakers sound really nice for stock ones, even though the video
also, that sticker in the gas door is "unleaded fuel" in french. a lot of cars have this. more often it'll say "essence sans plomb suelement" instead
(and that transition at 26:36 was the cleanest one on the channel, i had to replay it a few times)

A lot of people argue that these heatshrinks don't have enough solder to make proper connections, and I do think that's a valid point, but I don't see anything wrong with using them for low amp applications where you already run thin wires, like activating relays or maybe signal wires. The glue inside it is a nice touch too. But you do need to be careful with heat as these heatshrinks can melt, or frayed wire pieces can pierce through the heatshrink. Then again I did use them a lot when working inside my car since it's more convenient than using extensions and waiting for iron to heat up - especially when weather outside is not ideal

5:44 I love a good black wheel, they usually have to be a 1 piece wheel or if its a multi piece the lips have to be polished (I personally hate "murdered" out 3 piece wheels). I don't see a lot of good black wheels around where im from because most are low quality plasti dip or spray paint and they look bad regardless of what you do. I plan on going with some used wheels and get them powder coated but thats after the laundry list of maintenance, fixing, and performance things i want to do

Backhalf for the fiero? got to give us a run down on that shenanigans 🤣 the only ugly left is that broken piece in the back and the chipping clear. If you wet sand that area you can reclear it, just focus on removing the bad clear and if it bleeds colour you just want to remove the top oxidized layer. Best part, cant make it worse and looking minty already 👌

Wirenuts or twisty's as you call them. Are used in household electronic where you should have solid core copper wires rather than the strand type. Although here in europe the wago connecter is more popular. So i doubt the wire nuts where a good choice for car electronics that looked insanely sketchy lol.

  • @vyladence
    @vyladence ปีที่แล้ว

when you're soldering, put your soldering iron on the bottom of the wires. I like to add a little ball of solder right between the soldering iron and the wire to promote heat transfer, then put the solder itself into the top of the wires. This will allow the solder to wick into the wires better because the wire itself is melting the solder and create a much more solid connection. ChrisFix has a really good video explaining how to solder if you need a demonstration. Those all-in-one solder butt connectors are really cool though. also "super sans plomb seulement" is just french for premium unleaded only

Might as well strip the others and put some polish time in on those rims. Itll be factory, but unique.

When I removed the spray paint from my wheels, I ended up using CitriStrip. Works OK, smells great and doesn't damage the original finish (at least in my application.) But boy was that a lot of scraping.

« Super Sans Plomb Seulement » is french for « Premium Unloaded Fuel Only » Premium = Super, Unleaded = Sans Plomb, Only = Seulement
From a fellow french Canadian, I say thank you for all the awesome content :)

Last time I installed a stereo and used butt connectors (yeah I know) and was getting weird behavior with one channel randomly cutting out so I went in and soldered all the power and ground connections, haven't had a problem since. I will definitely use Soldersticks in the future.

I always had good luck with the goof off for the plasti dip unfortunately they discontinued the spray can you have here in Canada but I had black on chrome wheels, let the goof off sit and hit it with a pressure washer all came right off

There's thing called clutch pedal freeplay and some cars are stupid high freeplay my fc is almost 0 which is nuts but when it was over an inch out of spec it was annoying to drive when I adjusted it back it became easier and nicer to drive and manage

The very first time I did a radio on a Nissan (after doing them on many different models of cars) I was so confused why it didn’t work untill I moved the ground off the harness to a bolt behind the radio and it worked perfectly. So weird that Nissan does that and most other manufacturers don’t.

Right! I've only encountered this issue on older Nissans!
