What coating di you put on your engine block? I have an 82 cb900c which I am currently rebuilding. Also, Kudos to Christina for allowing your restoration project.
Maybe you can tell me the best O-rings to use for this bike. My uncle is having issues with his eating up the oem rings they send him. He's had is bike since 81 and is the 2nd owner of it. He knows the ins and outs of the bike, having rebuilt it quite a few times. But he says the O-rings in the carburetors are his biggest issue.
where are you based mate? the main thing to eat o rings is ethanol in the fuel. usa has the most ethanol so try to source usa made parts. theres a canadian company that markets kits, their fuel is the same i think.
I'm n the US, he's down in south Fla. I'll spread the word to him about it once I do a search on what company to go through. Thanks for that bit of info, brother.
shawn stoddard Unless specified on the pump, all fuels these days have an (up to 10%) ethanol blend. The seals dry up and harden over time when exposed to this fuel. There are materials resistant tho the stuff, but it's hard to find in a cab kit for older bikes. If he can't find an ethanol resistant kit, he could try finding/running pure fuels. But it sucks having to run such an expensive fuel just to keep the seals alive when the bike is perfectly happy with regular grade otherwise. Research "GASOHOL TESTER" and how to use one to help you make sure the fuel has no ethanol. In Canada Shell V-Power is Ethanol free, not sure what's available in the States short of race gas.
