I'm Aussie but I am a fan of big bird. As a fast bowler myself, his action is the perfect bowling action in my opinion. As for this game, i remember watching it.
I attended that match as a teenager. I thought West Indies would knock of those runs comfortably but Simon O'Donnell bowled superbly. Thanks for posting.
Was at this game 14-15 y.o. Viv was tremendous, but Aussies were good on the day, Mo and SOD both excellent. That six from Joel onto the top of the Members, it had a vapor trail after it.
As cricket - loving school boys of the early 1980's, we always desired to see the highlights, if not live telecasts, of cricket matches around the globe, not just in India. That wish is getting fullfilled NOW, with the advent of the internet and channels like " Tri Sports " ! .
Just looking at the difference between these matches and the modern ones. The difference is clearly the weight of the bats. Viv turned blind as well for one run. They didn't dare complain about that.
I could never quite understand why the Windies kept faith with Richie Richardson. His technique left a lot to be desired with his lack of foot movement and his extremely half-hearted shot selection that got him out most of the time. His insistence on playing of the back foot the vast majority of the time was ridiculous, because every top class bowler could easily work him out. Larry Gomes the same. Lack of footwork, timid at best, but kept his place during that era. I often wondered what the Windies would be like without King Viv leading the charge. How he bailed that time out, when others around him failed to score decent runs, was astonishing. He truly was a generational talent.
Gday mate good to see you back. I while ago now you uploaded the first test between Aust and WI from the 1984/85 series in Perth and it was brilliant quality. I think your intention at the time was to upload the remainder of that series. Is this still a possibility? Even if you did a temporary upload like Darren M does it would be awesome.
The problem with the WI today is not the admiration well part is their fault but the WI players has become you call it postbouys crickters. They are more in in the gym to build body, rather working on their game. If you look yes they were tall and lean but not like today more muscle. But I still sat WI will win the 2027 WC in SA
More often than not, the lowest totals seem to be more difficult to reach. If the mental approach is not right, coupled with poor shot selection, then results like these occur. The best case in point, is the 1983 World Cup Final at Lords between India, who were defending 183 runs against the Windies, and lo and behold, the Windies struggled badly to get going. Losing early wickets meant that King Viv had to come to the rescue, but once he went, their hopes went too. Pretty much like this game at the SCG.
Very even series with England winning their first WSC Trophy defeating Australia 2-0, as England made amends after losing the 1979 WSC finals to West Indies.
7:24 . A good example of how selfish a player Dean Jones could be . Flashy shot straight to Richards . Terrible shot under the circumstances. He should have just consolidated on getting the score rather than going for a shot like that .. also what I never liked about Jones was how thoughtless he was when it came to running between the wickets. He'd think oh yeah I can make that but wouldn't think of his partner and would run him out . Sometimes he wasn't a team player Dean Jones
Funny thing about all these in the world series mathes they posted australia won yet as recall west Indies won all the Benson finals in those days..lol
I live in the UK. Born in Manchester. I’m English. 😂 I used to have every match posted starting from 80-81 season right up to early 2000s but that channel got deleted by Cricket Australia. On this channel I’ve just posted what I had to hand at the time. 👍
I watch these videos more to listen to beautiful commentaries that you will never hear again.
You got that right.. Best cricket 🏏 days ever!! And RIP The legend Deno!
Same here😊
I love watching these matches' videos again and again, listening to the commentary, and also the great players ❤❤👏👏
RIP Tony Cozier, best commentator

Thanks a Ton Craig
I was as well, sitting in the Doug Walters stand near the Hill.
That glare from Viv @ 32:22 I was scared just watching it on my laptop 37 years later. 🤣
@@roygbiv6010 🤣👍
Back in the day when 0/35 from the first 15 overs was a "solid start to the innings".
Yeah.. grounds were also huge and batsmen could easily run for four which is very rare in present cricket 😁
Best cricket days ever! Not now. Now all sports are pretty boys game!!
More than cricket loved the "Australian Broadcasting"..✓ and commentary too

Imagine Viv with a modern bat and short boundaries
Kerry packer brought a great change in cricket

Today at 2023 cricket is now business policy is for batting entertainment . Bowlers is been roll players. Some poor person play for money.

I think that is the voice of Doug Walters in commentary.
Great cricket. Quality fielding.
Welcome back! I am waiting for your all videos! As soon as possible!?.
I will watch 1986 - 2024
Like the sign says, this is TOP STUFF. 🤘🤘🤘
The bounce on this track caused a lot of problems for batsmen. Or was it good bowling.

Boss waiting for new treat...
Was Courtney Walsh wearing golf shoes ?
Allan Border out hit wicket in this match
Look how much the players shirts are sweating . Unlike todays modern shirts that are much cooler and sweat less.
My goodness the Aussies were ordinary during the 80’s although the Windies did make them look 2nd rate
Joel Garner retired in 1987 I guess.
AB no helmet to the windies
Is this the series where the second final was a tie?
@@ray.shoesmith no, think that was 84/85
please upload 1080p videos.

You look at that bowling attack against that west indies team and you think there's now way they can defend 194 even at sydney

Dirk Wellham ran the whole team out lol
😂
bad play by mathews at the end, not running on the last ball.

This was some poor batting
Especially from the Windies than the Aussies.
Foolish running between wicket by Aussies.
I guess the Australian who posted these olny shows the mathes Australian won
