A nice tribute to some of flat racing's biggest hearted and most underrated champions. These horses get nowhere near enough chances to shine at group 1 level while the 5-10 furlong horses are spoilt for choice. Other favourites include Further Flight, Assessor and Persian Punch.
+Christy Dolan Thanks for replying. The Australians get a lot of things right that we don't, especially the Ashes. Even England's rugby union team is now coached by an Aussie.Next week I will be at Cheltenham where staying chasers get the most respect & the Gold Cup is the only Grade 1 race during the jumps season that is further than three miles.
Celeric, Further Flight and Persian Punch would be on my list but can't argue with your choices. Loving your videos as they bring back some good memories.
Just imagine how many gold cups would RITE OF PASSAGE have won if he never had the injury.A true staying genius and runs well not only in the flat but over jump as well.Kayf tara was always my personal favourite too.
Very little I find normally to disagree with you mate BUT OMG stayers and no mention of FURTHER FLIGHT thats a no brainer he won group races and top handicaps from 1m4f to 2m+ he had to be there and for me slotted in at 2 or 3 Yeats no question Kayf Tara very good Further Flight his equal or very close to it for me.
@Christy Dolan 3200 metres (16f) is a pretty good staying test. Makybe Diva won with 58kg. Yeats ran 7th. Vinnie Roe ran 2nd, 4th and 8th. The evidence doesn't lie.
Further flight
Persian punch should be on there very gud stayers they were winning listed nd group races at 10 years old they were

I completely understand why a horse like Further Flight was loved by so many people, but no way on earth was he the equal of Kayf Tara.
Good vid yeats definitely number 1 stayer off all times
I think stradivarius might be taking over that title just now

Makybe Diva was taken to the concrete hard tracks in Japan, they should have brought her to UK or Ireland
Manighar a bloody good WFA horse in Australia
no sergent cecil?
Number one no shadow of doubt is Makybe Diva.

how can you leave persian punch off this list
Vintage Crop?
Why is speptimus in????
Top ten and stayers and no Vintage Crop?.........Melbourne Cup heroics must at least get him in the 10.
Surely British-born Makybe Diva should have made the Top Ten with her third Melbourne Cup? She beat Vinnie Roe twice over 3200 meters.
YOU SAY VINTAGE CROP, WELL DOUBLE TRIGGER DID THE BIG THREE ASCOT GOODWOOS AND DONCASTER CUP, DON;T THINK ANY OTHER HORSE HAS DONE THAT
@Christy Dolan none since him though . both stayers triple crown champs. ...
No Stradivarius, hmmm...
Yeats.
