Back when my dad first got this game for me when I was six years old, I remember wiping my tv screen because of that. My first Metroid experience but also my best.
I showed my friend this game yesterday, my god his reaction to the effects on the visor made me laugh, then I remembered the first time I played I was to stupid to get past the TUTORIAL 4 yr. Old me was stupid.
Not nearly as good as Super Metroid! But, yes after that game, the best game ever made. Including the wonderfull themes. Retro Studios did a Godlike thing by recreating the magic in three dimensions.

I love how this subtly samples the original Brinstar theme, but it never copies it directly. It uses the same chord progression but never the same melody, just carefully evoking the feeling without actively tearing the player out of the immersion and back to their memories of Metroid 1. Well played, Retro.
true Magmoor is blatantly lower norfair from Super Metroid but god damnit I think it's the best official version they've ever made :D I LOVE the Magmoor Caverns remix of Lower Norfair so much
Fuck me.. retro and Yamamoto got deeply into our brains.. you hear strange, alien like sounds at the beginning, you're viewing something metroid in 3D for the first time, you start exploring as the music unfolds, start discovering.. you slowly start noticing how beautiful is the world you're in and start getting used to the controllers, when you realize this IS metroid you start hearing a very familiar tune, as if saying "Yes, you're in for something amazing".. Art.
This game is the prime example of what a game should be. The atmosphere, variety of life, visuals... heck like i literally scanned everything just to learn about them. i felt like i was in this game. omg you made me meld Metroid Prime and Skyrim together with that comment... lol... and I even have used a Tallon Overword mod for Skyrim... as limited and strange as the mod is...
It's amazing how real the Tallon Overworld feels. You weren't merely in the hub world of a video game. It felt like Retro and Nintendo had dropped you into a living and breathing alien planet's ecosystem. The tangleweed that slowed you as you moved around, the small explosive blastcap mushrooms, the wandering spiny Zoomers and Geemers that would ignore you and only hurt you if you ran into them. The water dripping down your visor, the flashes of lightning and cannonfire that briefly illuminated Samus' face in your visor, the heat waves coming off your arm cannon if you fired it rapidly for a few seconds. Metroid Prime was the first time I'd seen that kind of attention to detail done on a console video game (and given I had been paying attention to gaming since the era of the SNES/Genesis and Wolfenstein 3D on DOS computers, this kind of attention to detail hadn't been feasible before), and it was incredibly immersive. It made you feel like you had been drawn through the TV screen onto the surface of Tallon IV.
I was never interested in Metroid games (I was more of a Zelda kid that didn't have no time for them spacey games) and then my cousin one day says hey you should try this new game called Metroid Prime it's freaking amazing. So I go over to his house play through the Space Pirate Frigate and I'm was like, "That was okay." Then I landed on the Tallon Overworld...I turned to my cousins and said, "Can I borrow this game?"
sadly ... one does not simply land in Tallon IV again ... in their entire life god damn it I wish I could erease my memory and replay it all over again
+kid14346 Another magical moment for me was when you return to Tallon Overworld after having been away, exploring the ruins, lava caves, and snowy canyons, then use the lift from Magmoor Caverns to the root cave. I climbed up as far as I could and then glanced up and was entranced by the vegetation peaking over the rim. I don't know why, but I couldn't look away for a few minutes. Part of must have been that my brain registering the music as it's only the second time in the game you hear it. Part of it, I think, is that I was recalling a memory of driving through some mountains during a rain storm as a child and those trees swaying atop them in the wind made an impression on me. Anyway, now I can't help but think of the two overworld themes when it rains.

3:00 is so overwhelmingly beautiful. It was on a metroid remastered ad as I was scrolling Instagram it played this particular portion of the song and so much nostalgia and emotions came
The beauty of this game is completely indescribable. The aesthetics and the audio leave you completely in awe of the sheer magnificence of the world that prime created AND most importantly, successfully made you actually feel like you were there. A game truly like no other before it. The first and last of its kind, and it shall never be forgotten in my mind as anything other than THE greatest game and work of art ever to exist.
This tune is so relaxing. You feel transported to a rain forest, lost finding a place to start, all the stress from daily life forgotten. It's originality, it's nostalgia, the atmosphere is so thick, you're almost swimming in it. Show me the composer.
Super Metroid was great. Definitely my favorite 2D Metroid game. But Metroid Prime was more than a 3D adaptation of the series like Ocarina of Time was to Zelda. Metroid Prime actually took advantage of the series and amplified the magic of the Metroid universe, and being released on GameCube as opposed to N64 was also probably a big help.
acalora123 Metroid Prime was a great game. Though, it still doesn't feel as Metroid as Super Metroid does. For example, while playing Super Metroid, various times one does something clever in the game to advance and one thinks that only he in the entire world was clever enough to figure it out. Stuff like that, one doesn't really experience in Prime. Super Metroid was able to tell you a great story without any dialogue whatsoever during the game. Prime relies on scans.
Both Metroid games are a masterpiece. But I do like Metroid Prime more and unlike say Ocarina of Time; which I think is massively overrated, Metroid Prime as of being the first 3D Metroid game did it magically right in alot of ways & I had a blast with it.
My god, and now is available for switch. Again the nostalgia, the emotion, the Incredible ambient music. First played in 2002, I was in shock of all the possibilities of exploring a discovering. And how the tallon IV soundtrack goes in crescendo. Absolutely on of the bests games in history
Remaking the Brinstar theme from the first game into this is Nintendo's way of telling the Metroid franchise, "welcome to the world of 3D games, Samus"
God I love this music. Every square bit of music, landscape made you just stand there. I'm actually going to put this in my game cube now! 20 years celebration.
Metroid Prime is easily in my top 5 games ever. This game is a masterpiece. The gameplay, graphics, music..just everything is superb. They REALLY need to make another first person Metroid and bring back this great atmospheric background music!!! Other M was a joke -_-
Other M wasn't that bad...people love to exaggerate over that game... Was it perfect? No, but it wasn't bad either. I loved how it looked and I loved the gameplay. The story and voice acting could have been better but I could care less. Even to this day I still pop in Other M because I enjoyed it from beginning to end.
Burraku Dusk People also love to bash it.I swear it's impossible to go to the comment section of one of these Metroid Prime song videos and NOT see someone bash Other M.
love this theme sooo much, i cant imagine how they were able to compose such a masterpiece but this is beyond beautiful and crisp. i would call this celestial!
I have a very special connection with this game, Walking out of my local game store in 2009 with this 3 dollar game in hand. Remembering that Metroid was in smash brothers. I started to play it and didn't put it down for 2 months. The 7-year-old mind was blown. How did they make it look this real?? Music gave me my first eargasm. It made me a fan of Metroid for the following decades. I got interested in astronomy. had a fucking happy dance when Metroid Prime 4 got announced. Freaked the fuck out when Ridley and Dark Samus got announced. Metroid made my childhood much better. it was always there when no-one else was. as sad as that sounds its the truth. sitting alone in my room with my shitty 3rd party Gamecube controller with Metroid prime and smash bros was my only reprieve. When the world got so shitty and unbearable I had Samus. When my relatives, father, and cat passed away, the Metroid prime was there. I don't know if I Would be the person I am now if I never went into that store with my five dollars and bought that game. I don't think I would be here if it wasn't for this series. I wanted to relive those memories and because of Coronavirus, I have another chance to. Hopefully, Metroid prime 4 comes out my 2021, because I want some new memories with Samus! May the sun-shine on the Metroid Series!
The feeling of wonderlust, of being on an alien world and exploring for the first time, at the start of an adventure to be had...that's the unsurpassed feeling this song evokes...and it never fails to deliver on this sensation...
The fact that this is a Brinstar remix is just....mind shattering Honestly, music like this just goes to show that the love for the Prime series is truly deserving.Immersive enviroments, beautiful music, challenging enemies, bosses, and puzzles, and finally a storyline that's able to followed coherently (This series and Metroid Fusion are my favorites because of the story-telling elements).Seriously,is there anything that Metroid can't do?
A dark, cloudy sky, rain beating against your visor and beautiful alien flora surrounding you on all sides. And then this music...honestly, the reason Metroid Prime is my favourite game of all time is because to me, no other game has crafted an atmosphere so enthralling and awe-inspiring.
After playing this game, you just know there was all kinds of love, hard work, passion, and dreams put into this game. Everything had it. The unique locations, the weapons, the battle system, the unique story -telling methods, the bosses, the goals, the genre, the background noises, the music, the environment, the graphics... this is the definition of a complete game. There is no debate about it: Metroid Prime is easily one of the most important, underrated, and impressive games of all-time!
Played this masterpiece on Dolphin VR couple of weeks ago; I just felt like I was playing the game for the first time, yet it is an old game I could say that was one of my favorite VR experiences.
I remember when I first made it to this place. Frigate Orpheon was a pain in the ass during my first playthrough because 1.I had yet to master the controls. 2. For a while I didn't have a memory card, so if I died on the parasite queen (I was new at the game, alright?) I had to start the whole game over. 3. my asshole of a brother who would always put pressure on me and negate my enjoyment of games. However, when I finally chased Ridley down to Tallon IV, I took some time to gawk at the beautiful visuals and music. I jumped into the small lake near the ship, saw a school of fish swim by, and thought to myself "I don't care if it's a 2002 game. These graphics are nothing less than majestic." (and yes, I had a memory card at this point.) Needless to say, reaching this area for the first time gave me a serious sense of accomplishment. It was just so.....HAPPY.
It was about Prime we returned to Tallon IV. Im sorry for that awful pun, but seriously its good to see Metroid's Fps cousin get its first game a switch port.
First thing I did last week! The Metroid Prime trilogy has a special place in my heart. The Prime games have an atmosphere that no other game has, not even the 2D Metroid's. I remember feeling so lonely while traversing through Chozo Ruins, feeling scared shitless in Dark Aether, and wrecking like a boss using Hypermode. Man, dem feels..
I'm so glad I read this!!!!! my original metroid prime Disc just stopped working after playing it recently. if only I had known as a kid keeping the case was a good thing... Well I did but I just didn't care AND I REGRET IT!!!!
Richard Blades When I was younger I would be able to get up to the point where you were supposed to get the Gravity Suit. I didn't find the stalactites until I was in 7th grade.
this is a great description of the feelings this song brings back to me. I was 12 playing this in 2002, was so excited for a new metroid game. this really kicked it off beautifully
actually it's not "subtle bits", it is the music itself! and yes, I feel like this game was designed as a 2D, then remade as a 3D. If this was true (which I don't think so), it would explain the 9 years gap between Prime and Super.
this just makes me wanna travel back to my childhood when i played this game on my elder brothers gamecube all day long so much emotions dude this game is really inspiring
Dang. I nearly shed a tear listening to this. I remember years ago when I first got this. Now, I have a job and I have to deal with taxes, checkbook balancing, insurance, and all kinds of other adult BS. I miss childhood.
The difference between Metroid Prime's OST and most of the other Metroid games is that the Prime games' music tend to have a sad tone to it, especially Prime 3. I prefer a more serious, lonely, and collected soundtrack like that of Super Metroid. My favorite Metroid song of all time is still Tallon Overworld Depths (not this one) though. I also like the whistle part of Chozo Ruins.
i think this was one of the first games i ever remember playing, kinda spoiled me towards all other games. every time i hear this it brings me back to third grade, around 1:00 in the morning, while my friend was sleeping over, playing this on a portable TV in my room. I need to play this game again.
Such an absolute masterpiece of a game. I had played metroid on the NES as a young child, but the series never really grabbed me before I decided to give Metroid Prime a shot. One of the best purchases of my life was made in March 2003. Retro Studios earned legendary status with their first game
just realized this theme has a lot in common with the hyrule field theme from OoT. come on nintendo, another metroid and zelda please? why exactly would we buy a Wii U without those? remember how you released the wii and then followed it up immediately with twilight princess and metroid prime 3? worked pretty well, no?
well, zelda is more of a need time to redraw everything into their timeline and as for metroid.....do you want it to turn to shit like COD just to stamp out the latest part?
This song brings back so many memories of not just this game, but also my life. I started to play this game when it came out andnso many good memories come back when I hear this song
I couldnt agree with you more! There is something mysterious and beautiful about this game. I remember sitting up all night trying to beat this game, at about 6 o clock in the morning I finally made it and it was something special, I cant describe it, the atmosphere and everything was just perfect.
What I love of this game mostly is the atmosphere. The feeling of being lost in a new world, and the music just fits perfectly with every moment. Also love the exploration, lots and lots of it. Great weapons, great graphics for the console and time, long campaign (considering you don't look on the Internet), lots of stuff to collect and find, awesome boss battles. A simply unique and well made game, in short.
I love this theme, but at some point I started hearing bits and pieces of the Pokémon theme (the one they remix as the title theme for every game and shows up in important battles in the anime every so often) and I haven't been able to unhear it ever since

Yeah that happened to me too, any chance to find back that particular clip?
Show me the composer.
and then you find the space pirates XD
no other metroid game can replace its amazing athmosphere and music this game was one of a kind
Play Super Metroid then and find out
Super Metroid was great.
This... this is the music to tell you that the world is alive... and ready to be explored.
This theme be giving me goosebumps man holy crap
My god, and now is available for switch. Again the nostalgia, the emotion, the Incredible ambient music. First played in 2002, I was in shock of all the possibilities of exploring a discovering. And how the tallon IV soundtrack goes in crescendo. Absolutely on of the bests games in history
Game is timeless.. 20 years later and I’m still thinking about it. they really don’t make them like they used to
You can thank "live service" for that.
Bravo and thank you to everyone on the Retro Studios team for this masterpiece.
Remaking the Brinstar theme from the first game into this is Nintendo's way of telling the Metroid franchise, "welcome to the world of 3D games, Samus"
theres never going to be a game that'll replace all the memories this game gave me. this game is going to be inside of me for the rest of my life.
Mine too
Mine too! I want to play it again.
Javier Alexis Gutierrez I have the GameCube game too
I had it, and now, i wanted again.
I miss that times.
It's ME Too... Not Mine...
GOAT.. not sure there will ever be a game that tops the first metroid prime. Ever.
This is when you knew this game was gonna kick ass.
Really? I knew the second I enter the space station in the intro
I'll never forget the first time I heard this track. A damn excellent game.
Oh man, this instantly reminded me of trying over and over to do that glitch by your shuttle to get the double jump early
God I love this music. Every square bit of music, landscape made you just stand there. I'm actually going to put this in my game cube now! 20 years celebration.
THAT FIRST CHORD! It's the PS1 intro chord! I love it! :D
Metroid Prime is easily in my top 5 games ever. This game is a masterpiece. The gameplay, graphics, music..just everything is superb. They REALLY need to make another first person Metroid and bring back this great atmospheric background music!!!
Other M was a joke -_-
We don't talk about Other M... ever
I agree with u, for back in its time on the gamecube, i LOVED this game, easily in my top 3 games
METROID PRIME 4!!!!! :DDDD
love this theme sooo much, i cant imagine how they were able to compose such a masterpiece but this is beyond beautiful and crisp. i would call this celestial!
I have a very special connection with this game,
Walking out of my local game store in 2009 with this 3 dollar game in hand.
YESSIRRR
2021 he said
@@johnxina7496 bro I have student debt now where the fuck is it
@@BELDAM808 sir i went from middle school to university since it was announced. I want to ask the same question
THE ORIGINALS BEING REMASTERED !
Uploaded 8 years ago and I still never get tired of this game's music
Just grinning the entire way through this vid. Allll those memories of such a gorgeous game. My teenage years right here.
I think it's safe to say that I'll remember this until the day I die.
I really need to find the time to play this game again sometime. One of the best I've ever played,
Played it on a receiver back then with a lot of bass.. was so awesome
Who's here after seeing the remaster?
Me
It's me.
Yes ^^
yep
Such a beautiful song. Just imagine hearing this after the franchise was on hiatus for 8 years. 😭
So much nostalgia!
The feeling of wonderlust, of being on an alien world and exploring for the first time, at the start of an adventure to be had...that's the unsurpassed feeling this song evokes...and it never fails to deliver on this sensation...
I just realized.... this is great study music.
+tcrpgfan Silence is even better study music.
+Pixel Perfect Dubsteps is the best study music.
This comment is a joke.
Pixel Perfect
Just sitting here with my dumbass, thinking is "Silence" the title of a track in the ost.
The fact that this is a Brinstar remix is just....mind shattering
Honestly, music like this just goes to show that the love for the Prime series is truly deserving.Immersive enviroments, beautiful music, challenging enemies, bosses, and puzzles, and finally a storyline that's able to followed coherently (This series and Metroid Fusion are my favorites because of the story-telling elements).Seriously,is there anything that Metroid can't do?
You know the prime series will always be my favorite game regardless of who says anything
I always turn to this song; I like it so much, especially on rainy days.❤❤❤
We're finally going back
just hearing to this song makes me wanna cry. The best adventure i've had in my life. Thank you Retro
Now I am waiting for the remastered version of Prime to be released physically on switch 😊
A dark, cloudy sky, rain beating against your visor and beautiful alien flora surrounding you on all sides. And then this music...honestly, the reason Metroid Prime is my favourite game of all time is because to me, no other game has crafted an atmosphere so enthralling and awe-inspiring.
I love how it captures the beauty of the original brinstar theme and has that nostalgic garnish, but has ominous tones to symbolize canc...phazon.
good save
joe laroche Well, it probably wasn't their intention, but all the signs are there that phazon is a metaphor for something...
agreed
I may not have grown up with the game, but when I first played this, I wad in awe.
2019, still the best game overworld theme imo, even though its sad that you dont get to hear it full game. Tallon Overworld 2 is still good though
There is no debate about it: Metroid Prime is easily one of the most important, underrated, and impressive games of all-time!
this was my first metriod game i ever played from start to finish
Played this masterpiece on Dolphin VR couple of weeks ago; I just felt like I was playing the game for the first time, yet it is an old game I could say that was one of my favorite VR experiences.
This game is immersive masterpiece even without VR headset.
These graphics are nothing less than majestic." (and yes, I had a memory card at this point.)
Needless to say, reaching this area for the first time gave me a serious sense of accomplishment. It was just so.....HAPPY.
+Mal Swensen Haha glad to hear I wasn't the only one who jumped into the small lake to see the fish (:
I loved jumping into the lake and just chilling.
I shot the ever living sh*t out of the fish, lol.
I never actually noticed when this stops playing and the other Tallon Overworld theme takes over..like at what point of the game?
It was about Prime we returned to Tallon IV.
Im sorry for that awful pun, but seriously its good to see Metroid's Fps cousin get its first game a switch port.
you just summed up all the reasons why metroid prime is my favorite video game of all time, you rock man :)
AUGH. The nostalgia hits like a truck high on cocaine...
Reminds me of a futuristic ship hanger near a city in a rainy forest area with ships flying in and out being heard in the background
Metroid Prime Trilogy is on for $9.99 on the Wii U eshop right now, get it while you can!
If I had known that, I probably wouldn't have the original.
I'm so glad I read this!!!!! my original metroid prime Disc just stopped working after playing it recently. if only I had known as a kid keeping the case was a good thing... Well I did but I just didn't care AND I REGRET IT!!!!
+Desmond_Red
Considering how much the disc version of the trilogy is, buying it at regular price is also a good deal.
You're absolutely right on this. You rarely see such quality work nowadays.
Back when you could call Nintendo, Nintendo. I miss the gamecube so much
still have mine! >:D and, this is almost embarrassing but, it took me ten years to beat the Metroid Prime games (._.) not sure why, it just did.
Richard Blades When I was younger I would be able to get up to the point where you were supposed to get the Gravity Suit. I didn't find the stalactites until I was in 7th grade.
lol
lol Okay, so three years ago, Nintendo was really that bad to you...??! lol ... Sigh.
this is a great description of the feelings this song brings back to me. I was 12 playing this in 2002, was so excited for a new metroid game. this really kicked it off beautifully
This song is glorious
I love how there's subtle bits of Brinstar mixed in. This was the only Prime game that felt like a 3D rendition of a classic Metroid game.
actually it's not "subtle bits", it is the music itself! and yes, I feel like this game was designed as a 2D, then remade as a 3D. If this was true (which I don't think so), it would explain the 9 years gap between Prime and Super.
Two words: BRIN STAR !
This still sends joyful chills up my spine
Un hermoso viaje al pasado!
this just makes me wanna travel back to my childhood when i played this game on my elder brothers gamecube all day long so much emotions dude this game is really inspiring
GOD I MISS MY CHILDHOOD :(
i miss ur childhood too..
I need to play this game again.
why Nintendo doesnt make remakes of the entire Metroid series ,it would be badass to do Super Metroid, fight a giant Kraid >:D
People are freaking out over Majora's Mask 3DS, I'd kill for a 3DS remake of Super Metroid.
Same ..

Fabulous item located.
Like if you get the reference.
I couldnt agree with you more! There is something mysterious and beautiful about this game. I remember sitting up all night trying to beat this game, at about 6 o clock in the morning I finally made it and it was something special, I cant describe it, the atmosphere and everything was just perfect.
Its back
What I love of this game mostly is the atmosphere.
We are fucking back lads.
Fun fact, metroid fusion was released one day before Metroid Prime. November 17th and November 18th. 2002! I can't believe it's been 20 years.
At 1:38 was when I knew this game was going to be awesome.
I love this theme, but at some point I started hearing bits and pieces of the Pokémon theme (the one they remix as the title theme for every game and shows up in important battles in the anime every so often) and I haven't been able to unhear it ever since
GOD I was listening to this randomly and didn't know it was from metroid Prime, I legit thought it was a pokémon remix
