Kelly is a multi talented lady. She can master most styles of music. Refered to as a vocal chameleon. Nothing that she cant sing very well.
Phantom of the Opera was on Broadway for several years and is touring internationally, but it was also a movie.
I too, loved the greatest showman, and I believe you might enjoy watching phantom of the Opera. I believe it's available on prime video.

Thanks for reacting to this great song. Josh Groban recorded that song from the musical Phantom of the Opera for his CD Stages and asked Kelly Clarkson to join him on this song. Josh has sold over 35 million albums worldwide and was nominated for 5 Grammys, 2 Tony Awards (musical theatre, he just finished playing the musical Sweeney Todd on Broadway) and 2 Emmy Awards (TV). He sings a variety of songs in different genres and languages and he also writes his own songs. His first CD was released in 2001 when Josh was 20 years old. The album sold over 5 million copies in the US and was in the billboard top 200 for nearly two years. He plays piano and drums.

Josh Groban is a fabulous singer. Josh can do anything from pop music to opera. He was asked to rehearse 'The Prayer' with Celine Dion when Andrea Bocelli could not get there in time by David Foster. He was about 17 at the time and his career took off. He sang 'You Raise Me Up'.
Wonderful choice. Sincere reaction. Both artists are enjoying strong, successful careers, and both are excellent at what they do. Song is from the musical theater producton of Phantom of the Opera which ran for years on Broadway. Neither perormer was in a production of it.
To answer your question about Stages, it was the title of one of Josh's studio albums, then this video is from a live performance during his concert tour for Stages. It was called Stages because it was mostly musical theater songs, and a couple of songs from movies. Kelly usually does sing in a more country/pop/rock style on her songs on the radio, but apparently is a musical theater fan, and jumped at the chance to sing this duet from the musical, The Phantom of the Opera, with Josh in a musical theater style. And yes, they are friends. Josh's voice range goes from baritone (higher than bass but lower than tenor) up to tenor. Besides English, he also sings in Spanish, Italian, French, and one song in Japanese. He has recorded a few songs for movie soundtracks -- like Remember for Troy and Believe for The Polar Express -- and has acted in two Broadway musicals (earning a Tony nomination for each). He is also a songwriter, sometimes writing with others and sometimes on his own. My favorite 3 of his own songs are The Wandering Kind (instrumental), Awake, and Happy In My Heartache.

Heh...your reaction, Chase, when Kelly Clarkson comes in, reminds me of one of my favourite reactions from back a while, Jovaughn Wellington (JayveeTV) doing Time To Say Goodbye by Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman. Similar gobsmacked-and-enraptured facial expression...incidentally Sarah Brightman was the wife of theatre composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, and sang this song, All I Ask Of You, in Webber's musical Phantom Of The Opera.
You're absolutely spot on about Groban's sound being theatrical (you didn't use that word, but that's what you clearly meant); he began in musical theatre and that remains his first love professionally though he has had a very successful career in popular music. He burst onto the scene in 2001 as a kind of younger, American version of Andrea Bocelli; in the 23 years since he has begun writing some of his own material as well. Besides singing and acting and, lately, songwriting, he's also a fine pianist. There are loads of Groban tracks worth checking out, from theatre songs like this one (the studio version of which is part of a whole album of Broadway songs), through early hits like To Where You Are or You Raise Me Up, to newer ones like Symphony.
