Dave I was so excited that I didn’t even finish your video to post my comment. My first new used car was a 1965 Oldsmobile just like yours except it was navy blue and didn’t have any options but a 3 speed close ratio standard transmission with its shifter on the floor. It did have if I recall a rocket V8 for an engine. I loved that car but others hated to race it LOL. Reason being oh I forgot to mention it did have that big 455 cubic inch V8 with the later to be considered to be the 442 package. It was so fast that I beat many GTO’s and Corvettes back than. I just love how your able to mix up your content and still make an awesome video with great 👍 content. A HUGE Thumbs Up 👍 oh and Thanks 🙏- Cheers

the 65 came with a 330 or a 400, with 323 rear gears. The 330 was an iron block and was very tough to beat. I raced mine 100x or more and got beat 4x. Mine had the 330 with 2 barrel and 2 speed. I later bought a 64 and put a 455 with 2 speed. Both cars could do 0-60 in 1st gear in about 4 seconds. It was tough to beat. The only 4 cars to beat me were a Buick Grand National, a Vette, a Vega with a blower out the hood, and another Grand National. I asked the 2nd GN guy what was in that thing, when he said V6 I about cried, after hearing turbo I felt a little better. I will someday own one.

Dave & Muppy RV & Vlog Channel - Mine must have been the 400 about all I can remember is the first owner ordered it as the olds f 85 but he told me it was part of a 442 package. I purchased it in 1967 with if I recall 26,000 or so miles on it. I do remember it ran like hell on wheels that is when I spent lots of time at the drag strip - now i didn’t say I never LOL 😂 races it on the x way. I so it about 3 years later when I was was about to lose my license 🤮 and I sure needed a ride to work. I purchased a 1964 Pontiac wagon that helped me keep my license but I still raced my wagon 🤭. Nice 👍 car 🚗 I love it. Cheers and I sure stand corrected on engine size 🤡 but don’t tell anyone ok 👌...

I forgot that also around that time there was a 425, which was a red engine, the 330 and 400 were gold. Either way they 455 was a decent engine, which I have had, but the 400 and 330 were better in drag racing. I'd like to have the wagon you spoke of, those were cool!!! I had a 65 Pontiac Grand Prix which was a heavy boat, but very sweet, it almost floated down the road. Fun to drive until a snake came from under the seat one day, never could drive it after that.

Olds motors are extremely reliable and smooth.
Its really no surprise it fired up after sitting for that long.
As long is its got some fresh gas and oil , you got a good block.
Now just gotta go blow the cobwebs out of her when you get the brakes and everything fixed up

I drove an old Olds in the 90's that was like a big boat...I think it was right around the same year as yours. That car was like a tank and a guy hit me in the rear end and he got the worst of it. That car just kept on going. Good luck!

Furture reference, for stuff like this, instead of pouring gas down the carb, fill the bowl through the vent tube, should give you about 30 seconds of run time

    • @davesrvchannel4717
      @davesrvchannel4717  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

that is awesome. Me and your dad spent many a mile in that old car. I bet that car raced 100x, and got beat three times that I recall. An 83 corvete with a high performance chip, a monza or vega with a blower sticking out of hood and a Buick Gran National. I don't recall the 100 cars it beat,,LOL. Your dad's 74 442 was pretty badass too

Back when I posted this video I had both RV and vlog videos on this channel. I also have a 64 Cutlass with a 4 speed. I will likely have some videos there of it this spring as well, thanks

That motor looks like it might be from the mid to late '70's ... Is there any fuel in that filter at all ??
I'd check those break lines through out the whole system that single master cylinder have been know to fail I lost a front end on my '64 F-85 Deluxe .. lucky I found parts...
That is a lovely machine fuel line or fuel pump it's not your carburetor at all it's either your fuel pump but I'm thing more fuel lines how long was it siting for and where was it siting on grass?
Watch the underside fore rust grass will destroy a underside and self adjusters work when you are going about 25 in reverse...
That car brings back memories the front end for my 64 was a '65. 442 I took the fenders and used them to make fiberglass ones the '65 had a '70 442. W-30 drive train with the 'F' heads also had '66 Cutlass Supreme & 2@ '67's one 442 hardtop & Cutlass Supreme Ragtop with a bunch of other Oldsmobile's cars for parts...

after years fuel luse its juce octane rating teribul you might consider use fuel aditives because old cars run on leaded fuel and just clean good fuel line that is actualy rust what is stuck in carburator use a neadel and pocke the carburetors jetts that shuld work perhaps you shuld consider rost protection on all electric terminals and moisture protection if that thing use poits ignition he will not turn on in cold weather with out moisture protection if he dont start see if the automatic choke is closed they are known to by stuck just on cold weather flor the gas pedal just once and remove fast fot from gas pedal dont add any more priming you risking to soak the spark plugs what isnt good at all

carb well plugs are dry rotted leaking gas in the engine, that is why it is needing so much gas when it sits.
