What is the Novation Launchpad and what can it do? In this video I explain to you everything you need to know, so you can follow along and hopefully learn a thing or two!
First of all, this video was amazing and i expect it will do wonders for newcomers to the Launchpad community. This brings me onto the second part of my comment... roughly in the middle of the video, you said that purchasing a Launchpad will automatically give you a copy of Ableton Live Lite. Since i am someone who only has access to Ableton Live Lite (but i expect many others will as well) i would extremely appreciate a Tutorial/video like this explaining “Everything you can do/need to know about Ableton Live Lite. I think this would really help the community as you cannot find any good tutorials that cover everything because everyone is using Standard or Suite nowadays and some people just can’t afford that. Sorry for making such a long comment but i hope you take this into consideration as i could see it helping many people. - Sp4rky

Leo The Music Ghost Novation doesn't have an official shop, they ship them to other places. If you buy and launchpad brand new from any shop, it will already include the trial in the box.
Logan King I mean i have it and it’s mostly the part your choice. If you are going to make music with it then i suggest you buying it but if you are just gonna play covers then you need to decide since most people don’t make covers any more so then you need to do it yourself.
Get one ASAP. Get an intro bundle if you're not sure. I had a LaunchPad Pro bundle for about a year and a half before I even really started digging into.

Definitely! I had absolutely no background in music whatsoever when I got mine, and it's only opened a door to learning more about music since I bought it. Super recommend if you are interested, even without that background

hey man so i really want to play this project and everything is working great but there is a little problem. im playing a project with a lot of cool fast changing light effects but when i play them they seem to be just a tiny bit slower than they are supposed to be and it really messes it up. if you have any tips on how to maybe fix this then please get back to me soon. thanks :)
XNinjazX Music are you using windows, that’s sometimes one reason, run ableton in Hackintosh which is a mac emulator for windows or it may be a new MK2/Pro glitch
Any laptop that can run Ableton will be able to run the Launchpad, this should help clear some things up: help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001663530-Live-10-Minimum-System-Requirements That being said these are only the minimum requirements to make it be able to run, sometimes larger project files can bog down your computer and having more CPU can help make things run a bit smoother.
Also, could you get a microphone, and record a sound, and put it as a sample on your launchpad? For example, I hook up my microphone to the computer and let say that I clap. Could I download that to a file on my computer, and upload that to the launchpad?
You do need to have your launchpad plugged into a computer at all times to use it. This is because it needs a power source, as well as requires the software to both receive input (i.e. know what buttons play what sounds) and output (i.e. you need speakers to hear what you play) Hope that helps!
Hello InspirAspir, Is possible to change the lighting o a Novation LaunchPad Pro, i mean i want to create a specific colors on each button(pad...?)... BUT, i need it to keep those colors for a program witch one it's no a Audio Software... in other words, i need this device to use it a CueTrigger for other type of program... This program it's 100% compatible with ANY MIDI device... i can use it right now, but, i don't like the "color order" this pad had. So i witch to change the order and colors i need it. Could you please help me with That? Or if any one had the answer for this? I really thanks you and all this awesome community.
You certainly don't need a musical background to use a Launchpad, though admittedly it would help a bit. My first ever exposure to Ableton was when I got my first launchpad, and just learned it as I went. So you can pick it up as you go and be just find :D

This is probably the dumbest question but I was just curious. Obviously the launchpad takes up a lot of processing power with the lights and audio and all that. So Can it be done in like a laptop? Say for portability or do you need like a crazy built 50,000 dollar PC

My first failure is that I got for christmas the Launchpad without knowing you need Ableton Suite to make it look cool. So I am stuck with Lite.
