They could easily do a 20-minute video of strictly easter egg clips from this series. It really seems like every episode is a fantastic story built off of how many references they could think of that week.
The thing that makes the show so great is that it does focus on the nostalgia but rather than just focusing on it and it actually adds things to it and progresses things.
Imagine a world where martial arts teen mobs rule the streets and no police gets involved ever. Instead everybody is his own judge and executioner. We so need the MMA antagonists.
The fact that they are apparently bringing back Terry Silver from Karate Kid 3 for season 4 is going to be nuts. I hope they get the same actor because that dude was great. He was basically playing the Joker in that movie and it was glorious. This shows pretty silly at times but if Terry Silver is anything like he was in KK3 this shows going full looney tunes.
Thank you for mentioning the shoes thing! I'm a former karate student myself. And you're right, MMA would slaughter them since karate doesn't really deal with grappling or ground work as much.
I found that amusing because I trained in traditional martial arts for 8 years and there wasn't any focus on practical fighting skills. Having pretty kata got a lot more focus. I guess it would still be helpful if you got in a fight with someone who had no fighting experience, but any criminal who attacks you would likely be used to getting into street fights. Karate was still fun and good exercise, but it's not like it instantly turns people into living weapons.
"follow a washed-up actor that's out to prove there's more to him than that one thing he did in the 80s" *screams desperately in impending who's the boss reboot*
I have nothing against kung fu or Chinese culture or anything like that and Jackie Chan is great. I think great movies can be made with them and about them. I just REALLY don't think they should have called that movie Karate Kid when there was no karate in it... Yes, the premise was the same with very minor changes, but I still think the name should have matched what it was and not what it was based on.
The fact that it carries on the original 80s successfully while maintaining its soul unlike other franchise with higher budgets like Star Wars and Terminator tells you how awesome Cobra Kai is.
At the beginning of the first movie he didn't do anything else than trying to talk to his (ex) girlfriend. Sure, he overreacted when he took her radio, but it was actually Daniel who started the violence.
I know it's a show but the kids on cobra kai need to go on scared straight because they are literally attempting to murder each other everytime they fight, no one sat down and asked "do you want to become murderers?"

"Holy crap who would ever recognise that these were easter eggs?" - Cruel Summer I recognised. Also, was disappointed you didn't point out Amanda calling Kreese Rambo because Martin Kove was actually in Rambo 2. Anyway, love your work Joe and team!
Good Call
They could easily do a 20-minute video of strictly easter egg clips from this series. It really seems like every episode is a fantastic story built off of how many references they could think of that week.
Screen junkies makes Honest trailer cobra Kai:
Everyone “QUIET!”
QUIET!
"This guy definitely has a waifu pillow"
BRUH 💀
The thing that makes the show so great is that it does focus on the nostalgia but rather than just focusing on it and it actually adds things to it and progresses things.
Could you imagine the drinking games base on this show? pick any word Miyagi, Dojo, Cobra, Karate and drink every time you hear it...
Double shots when Kreese pronounces it in the cool way: 'karratay'
You'd be an alcoholic like Johnny
Lamo
Could also play a game of finding Waldo with Kreese and his Rambo like war portrait that's almost always hovering in the background of the dojo

You can't mock the perfect movie tho.
5:37 This show is the prime example of Violence is never the answer, but it is cool
Seen all 3 seasons so how did I not notice until now, that Robbie literally never shuts his damn mouth??
Plot twist! He's actually the son of Val Kilmer.
If it makes you feel any better, I just finished season 4 and didn't notice that until now 😂
Who knew, "Get him a body bag" was foreshadowing a tragedy that was going to happen almost 40 years in the future?

The Umbrella Academy Honest Trailer
Imagine a world where martial arts teen mobs rule the streets and no police gets involved ever. Instead everybody is his own judge and executioner.
We so need the MMA antagonists.
Yeah, the subtle digs in the show are redick - "there's no tapping in Karate," the karate n00b taking out the wrestling team, etc. Like, bruh...
Warriors! Come out to play-yay!
@1stGinunting The Kunio-kun games are a better example.
Honest trailer: How I Met Your Mother
Ps. Please!
Which had a memorable episode involving Barney's bachelor party that costarred Ralph Macchio and William Zabka as themselves.
ooh. this would be good.
Barney Stinson is very happy right now.
Oh it 100% is gonna be the same actor, watch the season 4 teaser and you can tell pretty quickly
They got Ali, Chozen, and the girl from Karate Kid 2. They’re going to get Terry
This show is probably the greatest remake of a Movie ever, the characters, the plot, the music it's everything ✨😭

It was a very popular 80's trope, though, which pretty much created the movie, so they're kind of stuck with it.
Please say: “In a world where pigs fly, one man will put a stop to this madness.”
The walking with the shoes kills me every. single. time. So glad you pointed it out!
Just finished season 3 and I am still impressed with how great this sequel show is! I nearly fell out of my chair at 6:31!

Tony Danza also did Taxi
I have nothing against kung fu or Chinese culture or anything like that and Jackie Chan is great. I think great movies can be made with them and about them. I just REALLY don't think they should have called that movie Karate Kid when there was no karate in it... Yes, the premise was the same with very minor changes, but I still think the name should have matched what it was and not what it was based on.
So say we all!
The Kung Fu Child
100% Agree “Kung fu kid” would have been perfectly reasonable.

Honest Trailer for Netflix's Babysitter movies! Now! Please!
The fact that it carries on the original 80s successfully while maintaining its soul unlike other franchise with higher budgets like Star Wars and Terminator tells you how awesome Cobra Kai is.
Lmao "Take off your shoes" got me. It was all I could think in their dojo scenes
Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris) from *How I Met Your Mother* called it.
Johnny was the good guy after all.
Blame Kreese
4:23 The Robbie character noticeably has his mouth closed more in season 4, which makes you wonder if the writers took note from this😂
