    I choose to borrow a bit from boxing. The techniques you are
    teaching take a Ton of practise, and actual application in order
    for them to be effective "In the Street." I have spent a good num-
    ber of hours applying the "Slap block," followed by a lightening
    quick lateral "Slip" to the side of the opponent. In a fraction of
    a second, I then punch---with intense Focus and Ferocity, to the
    person's gut...Or, I can apply a very quick, low "thrust kick" to
    his knee. These two options can be learned quicker than the
    more difficult techniques you offered---though they are good.
    Another good option that incorporates boxing technique is,
    simply "Dropping," or Ducking down low and SLAMMING the
    guy with a shot to whatever part of his body that is open.
    Yeh---the guy can react to those moves, but if you're Quick
    enough, they DO work.
    Fast footwork is a MUST! And exceptional lateral movement
    Makes these techniques very effective.

    Excellent video, I always add to my learning and build deeper understanding of various principles and techniques. Using relaxation to absorb shock and be springy also is used when striking to accelerate and snap with speed at impact. The more your body learns to root securely and work together as a unit your balance, skill, coordination improve. It also is cool how you blend tips from many styles into your videos.

    Adam, I had a question regarding pak-ing and punching if the force is too much. I know you mentioned relaxing the arm and having a spring effect but how does that play into if you need to move a bit to the side and forward while pak-ing. I find that I always lose a bit of balance, get rocked back a bit, or get rebound force. Am I not planting my feet properly? Are my feet in mid movement when I catch their punch with a pak, hence the getting rocked back? Thanks!

  • @paulconway1176
    @paulconway1176 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like this mostly, but to be frank they weren’t punches being delivered by his partner, the chances of someone outside wing Chun using a straight punch will be like winning the lottery! I prefer to call it feedback! I would really only utilise a pak mostly in response to a jab or in combination with a trapping technique or an offensive combination technique

    I'm amazed that in 2020 with all the information available there are still people believing in styles totally inefective from other centuries. They are probably fascinated by Master Yip Man even though nobody knows if what he taught in HK was the whole System or not. He was from the upper class and taught in HK to labour class people out of necessity, probably little or not motivated at all. He taught to only 5 students laconically. That is the truth the rest is pure myth.

      95% of the wing chun being taught is simplified stuff. The unsimplified version is A LOT more detailed. This Pak Sao "slapping" is NOT an important technique in the original unsimplified curriculum, in fact it is hardly used at all.

    • @kraftwerk974
      @kraftwerk974 4 ปีที่แล้ว
