I know the owner of this video! He was playing like this at his dad's church since he was a kid too. So this baby has it honest! God gifted the both of them! So proud of him! He has his own family and his own church!
All of you younger people showing how much you are respecting this 9 year old by giving him his props, you too are to be commended. Just because you may not be playing on this level at the moment, it doesn't mean you can't or won't. Being in the 4th grade as opposed to being a sophomore or junior in high school is a completely different ball game. He has nowhere near the responsibilities, obligations and stress that all of you have. Oh sure, he will feel it soon enough. But honestly, most kids in school today, unless they are playing stringed instruments in orchestra, they don't usually start playing until the 6th grade. Eleven years old. Two years OLDER than he is now. So as strange as this may sound, this young man is the one with the head start here, not you. Just let that sink in a bit. Children like this are where they are because of parents, older siblings or extended family that are directly motivating, teaching and influencing them to be there. So, each of you are simply at a disadvantage. I was in the same boat to an extent. My mother could have very easily been a professional pianist with any orchestra she wanted. She was that good. My dad, not quite as much, but he was also quite a respectable musician. A trumpet player. And so, it was no surprise that my older brother and I were too. Unfortunately, my dad was killed right after he had turned 49. I had just turned 15. So I was pretty devastated. However, I was later a musician in the Marine Corps. (something to seriously consider) As well as a machine gunner. And I have decided to spend the last 30 years of my life teaching kids with ADD, ADHD, Asperger's syndrome and any number of other learning disabilities learn to play just about whatever instrument they wanted. Fortunately, I have learned to play just about everything to a teachable level except stringed instruments, drums, piano and the like. And I feel refreshed after every single lesson I have ever taught. I have taught anywhere from 10 year olds to college graduate level. And every single one was rewarding for me. I remember every single one of them and most graduated in the top 10% of their class. I don't feel responsible for that. That was all their hard work, not mine. The only thing I am responsible for was giving them the desire to continue, respecting them instead of treating them like they were less intelligent than "normal" kids and having the patience to teach them at their pace. And to be clear, whatever the issue, most children that have learning disabilities are actually MORE intelligent than their peers. They have a learning disability. They ARE NOT stupid. Yet ignorant "normies" treat them as though they are. It really disgusts me. Anyhow, I am so impressed with all your comments and humility. I would love nothing better than to help each and everyone of you along with your musical goals and ambitions. You all sound like some great kids. So I will give you a few things to work with. 1. Do not ever accept no for an answer. You CAN do it. 2. Work harder for the things you WANT in life. Otherwise you will only spend your days working for what someone else wants because you have to. 3. Sometimes you have to say no. Your time is the only thing you cannot get more of. It is your life. Nobody else's. That means the decision is yours to make. 4. If you paid for it, it belongs to you. Think about that for a minute. Very few people understand that. You wanting to ride your motorcycle instead of play basketball right now is NOT being selfish. 5. Turn off the damn video games once in a while. 6. You will never get more than 24 hours in a day. But believe me when I tell you that if it hasn't already started, other people seem to think that when it comes to accomplishing THEIR tasks, you and you alone have 30 hours a day. So what's your excuse? 7. Give back more than you get. Always. 8. Be thankful 9. Respect other people's time. 10. Never. Never ever...EVER quit. 11. Repeat #10 And 12. Live the best life you possibly can, always. Jim Fixx was an olympic runner and in shape his entire life. And he fell dead of a heart attack. It happens. I just turned 50. I have had 7 heart attacks and several surgeries. And for the very first time in my life, I just bought a Harley. Why the hell not? I have NEVER ridden before either. I figure that if I get killed riding, at least I had fun doing it. That doesn't mean I have a death wish or intend to be stupid. It means I live life on MY terms. I bought it. It belongs to me and so do the remainder of my days. No matter how many (or few) I have left. Good luck and have a blessed life !!

Just this kid is phenomenal yes he is a awesome musician I’m almost 39 and I don’t even play like that however all of my other drummers that are not on the skill level here as a word of encouragement just because you can’t do crazy fillins Does not mean that you are less of a drummer on that a good drummer I am a pocket drummer. Can we all stand for better improvement of course and we should want to get better with our craft but I don’t believe that everybody is meant to be a crazy drummer be yourself as long as you’re getting gigs and you’re getting calls like I do that’s all that matters will your self be authentic and most of all be a anointed musician because even though we are instruments are we play instruments we are minstrels
