I grew up in the block of Rwdfern. The slums of the slums. Nows there's lovely cafes and restaurants. I worked and lived in Marrickville at 16, - 40 odd years ago. Nothing like this. Now I live up the coast. I wish it was there when I lived there. Mostly Greeks. Yum
Hi Michelle, thanks for watching and sharing your story. Yes Redfern is VERY different now. I was there for lunch 2 weeks ago in the business district area and had a burger for $29! I don’t think we’ll be doing a cheap eats video there any time soon! The profile of Marrickville has definitely changed over the last 10 to 15 years, it’s still one of the coolest neighbourhoods in the world! Living up the coast sounds amazing. Happy new year!
Marrickville is quite difficult to find a parking, especially true if you want to park near the Vietnamese restaurants. If you could take the train there.
Hi Richard, we do aim to provide public transport options in each of our videos (as this is how we move for our filming of the tours), but are a bit more sporadic about car parking. We'll aim to b more comprehensive moving forwards. Thanks for the suggestion!
Sorry, we may have miscommunicated in the video. It was definitely goose that we tried, I had never tried it before and the closest taste I could relate it to was duck.
Hi Peter, thanks for watching. True, a couple of the dishes we tried weren't the cheapest we've come across. Any in particular that you thought were exhorbitant?
@BucketListTravellers Hey, the bánh xèo is overpriced. The pancake itself visually lacks crispness due to too much flour, plus the filling is limited to a few bean sprouts. I can get bánh xèo in Cabramatta for around $15. If you are a vegetarian, there is a better bánh xèo outside Woolworths; it is filled with lots of bean sprouts and green beans, and it is very cheap and the best value. Other restaurants have prawn and pork slices with pretty much the same amount of bean sprouts for half the price. I understand it's in Marrickville; double the price is not justified.
@BucketListTravellers BTW, please don't dip the goose in the sauce and then dip it into the noodles. That's not how we eat this dish. It is: dip the goose in the sauce, then eat it, and eat the noodle soup separately. No offence intended.
@@petertruong1302 We agree with you regarding the pricing and the fact that you can get bánh xèo for much cheaper in Cabramatta. We experienced exactly that in our Cabramatta food tour video.
Does Marrickville have the best Vietnamese food in Sydney? Let us know what you think!
❤ let's go!
Inner west is best! 😜

Marrickville is best for Northern Vietnamese food but Cabramatta is best for Southern Vietnamese food
Ah, that is very interesting to know, thanks for watching and your insights!😀
It's very sad that some restaurants in Sydney would cheat their customers by selling duck as goose.

Over priced !
