- Hello and welcome back to the channel! Just a quick catch up before we drive to France for a couple of events (the long awaited Etape and Marmotte) and to catch some of Le Tour. ALLEZ! ALLEZ!
Quick spin out in the Chilterns testing some injured legs. The last couple of weeks have been a bit of a challenge, but we're rolling with the punches... always a privilege to be able to ride a bike and SO excited to have the chance to see Le Tour.

A little about me
Thanks for dropping by.
I’m your classic runner turned newbie cyclist.
For years I feared riding a bike - I was afraid of traffic, clipping in, couldn’t get my head around lycra, chamois cream and clambering up hills on a bike.
I didn’t believe that riding a bike would give me the same de-stress, mental download or sense of freedom that life as a long distance runner had given me before my knees ground to dust.
Fast forward to 2021 and picking up a second hand CAAD10 changed my life for the better. Not just physically and mentally. But also providing a sense of community and belonging - which is magic. The cycling community is just magic.
So I’m here. To hopefully inspire others to not fear the bike - the lycra, the clipping in. And come share the passion, freedom and indescribable joy that comes from being on the bike. I truly believe that the bike life is the best life and everyone should be able to enjoy it.

Sounds like some good riding coming. As for breaking the body, I'm with you there. I managed to break mine just in time for the summer! 😩 But then at 57 things break so much easier and more often, particularly after the years of abuse I've thrown at it. Getting old is rubbish and even worse when in my head I'm still 26, its just the mirror that lies! 🤣

The date change has been a nightmare - I've heard from so many people that they might not be able to make it to the Etape (fingers crossed I'm OK as long as flights go to plan)
Flying in the night before definitely not ideal - but just have to deal with it & crack on. Might be picking up some bib numbers for some total strangers who might struggle to get to Nice on time on Friday night (FB group folks) - gotta try help each other out haven't we

Di2 stopped working literally the moment I was due to pull out of the pen to the start. Quick dash & long wait at Shimano tent but thankfully got going right at the back of the event. Smashed it to top of Turini but then felt sick for some reason & then had to tap it out v easy to the end to keep the nausea at bay. Just about kept the broom wagon at bay. Some horrible crashes witnessed on the descents. Disappointed with lack of people out supporting- last year was incredible compared with this year. Last climb - my god it felt longer than 15.7km & 7%
With the hip pains and knee pains have you had a bike fit .
I have! I do think with a bit of bike travel and taking the bike apart and putting back together again I’m maybe not exact. Might be time for another.
Great video, the road with no cars is definitely worth heading out early 😍 love an injury moan as it's better out the head than in the head. Enjoy France 🇫🇷
I wonder what non-British people (native or resident) think of the phrase "It's all gone a bit Pete Tong" at 3:40, or seeing a "little group of D of E'ers with lime green backpacks"?
