Which ingredient surprised you the most? I couldn't believe 2 & 8 performed as well as they did!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your time invested in the experiment and for sharing it in the video! Very informative! In my country, Guatemala, in artisanal folkloric products, we use various native and Creole plants to make dyes. They are boiled in water for 3 hours, seeds, leaves, stems and flowers together the hole plant.
Apart, the trunk of the banana plant boiled in water is also used as a chelator. This fixes the colors and prevents them from staining. And you can put natural color in any product you want with these plants. Now I am trying with soap and your lotion recipe. I'm sorry I can't give you amounts, but here it's done "eyeball".
Plants native to my country or Mesoamerica:
    Chilca: (Baccharis latifolia): green
Chipilin; (Crotalaria longirostrata, delicious in soups, relaxes nervous system and helps to sleep when insomniac): yellow
Indigo: harvested on a full moon gives dark colors, harvested on other moons gives light colors
Árbol de Campleche or apparently named also as Logwood tree: dark purple
    Achiote (Annatto): terracotta.
    Other plants:
    Rosemary: green
    Basil: purple or lilac
Cochineal cultivated in nopal (Mexico): it gives red when mixed with water, corinto when mixed with lemon, it is stronger and brighter; mixed with vinegar gives another color. Modified: I just discovered Carmine comes from this insect, the cochineal, that grows in nopal in México.
    Beetroot: lilac
    Carbon: black
    Cinnamon or coffee: coffee
    Carrot: orange
    Hibiscus: pink
Coconut shell fiber: beige or cream
I hope this brings ideas to your active and investigative mind ;)
Greetings!! And welcome to Guatemala whenever you want!

You can also use rhubarb root, (not the leaves because they are toxic, just the root) for a beautiful rosewood color and mixed with titanium dioxide, even more.

Alkanet root works AMAZINGLY well as an oil infusion! It happens so fast, too. Infuse your oil with alkanet root (not powder) for a day or so and then create your product with the colored oil. ❤

I was making your lotion I tweaked a bit but I use Hibiscus leaf to color the water part. I also like using cacao powder for my chocolate/vanilla butter with bacurii butter. It's seems to be helping my stretchmarks🥰. I going to do more research for a chelator as research shows this one is 2b carcinogenic and a hormone disruptor.

This was so helpful! I was deliberating hard on purchasing Euxyl k 903 over a more reliable preservative, but I'm a very new beginner & I want to prioritize fool-proof non-fussy ingredients, even over natural ones; this was most informative!
On the subject of chelating agents, I asked another very experienced formulator if I could incorporate an ingredient with a high electrolyte load (pearl powder, but it got me thinking about aloe vera & sodium lactate too) with an emulsion held by a cationic emulsifier (BTMS-50). She said that a chelating agent might be able to save the emulsion but she wasn't sure. I've been on the lookout for a deep dive ever since!

I bought some blue algae & have a feeling it's going to turn gray. I'll probably end up drinking it in my smoothies. I put the sea buckthorn oil on my face and look like an Oompa Loompa, but my natural skincolor is kinda orange brown, so it's not as crazy as it could be. I love using turmeric on my skin but it discolors my white mani-pedi. Thanks so much for the fun & informative video. I love your work so much & find it to be so helpful, time & money saving.

Thanks for watching! You'll want to use a water soluble dye (or blend of dyes) for products like that. You can see that in action with this formulation: www.humblebeeandme.com/rich-foaming-hand-wash/. Happy making!

I love every aspect of your videos! I also love spatulas you are using. They are not very long a heavy (I'm talking about the once I saw in other videos). Where do you buy them? I'm asking because I ordered from Amazon spatulas that look like yours, but they are long and kind of heavy, so they'd flip 100ml biker. Please, help🙏
