Best laser measuring tools are so affordable nowadays, that there's really no reason to use a traditional, physical tape measure. You get much more accurate results, they're much less fiddly to use, and you can even get help with your calculations. No wonder they're the standard tool for professionals working in construction, surveying, IT networking, and energy fitting.
Best laser measuring tools take all the hassle out of DIY work, too, by measuring distances precisely, based on the time it takes for a light pulse to be reflected back to the sensor.
Some also offer the ability to store previous measurements, perform area and volume calculations, and/or export measurements to other devices. A few even let you prepare files for export to 3D design software, helping architects to draw accurate plans and game designers to re-create the real world in pixel form. So, here's what we know about the Best Laser Measuring Tools in 2024.

It was nice seeing the 2 measuring devices I had in mind, make it to the top of your list and this video was very helpful. Thanks.

Thanks for the video! I am interested in the bilateral tools. What do you think of the MiLESEEY bilateral? Verses the Magpie VH-80? Thanks!

Thanks for your feedback. MiLESEEY has P2P function with point finger camera which gives it an edge over VH-80.

IP rating means Ingress protection rating not international protection ration

I want to use such a device with a plastic corner-cube reflector plate, which reflects THOUSANDS as much back in the direction of the emitter than a white paper-like surface. (See Lambertian reflector.) I want to measure 500, 1000, 2000 meters, with a resolution of 1 millimeter . Problem is, I don't think the device will 'wait for' such a delayed reflection, even when it arrives with plenty of intensity.
And, of course, the display also doesnt have sufficient digits to display this.
Perhaps these manufacturers don't want to compete with professional distance measuring equipment?

Brain-dead clunky app. Can't copy with smartphone.

Don't buy Bosch, it's shows dimensions to 1/32. Quick what's 17/32? No Bosh, just No. I've been writing them for years asking them to make 1/16 their minimal fraction. just because you can doesn't mean you should, besides, it's only accurate to 1/16th.

Maybe thats a new thing, but I've had a bosch for 15 years. Set for inches, i get 16. But getting something new soon. I do construction, tape is used more, laser is super helpful in certain situations/areas of the job

Hhhmm - basic Mathematics: Accuracy of measurement is HALF of the UNIT used.
QUOTE: "it's only accurate to 1/16th...." is nonsense. Basic Junior Secondary Mathematics teaches that. Besides, if designing small instruments / circuit boards / whatever, then 1/16th is a massive error (in measurement). No wonder Bosch has not responded to your advice. They know their business.

I think you can change that default in the Bosch to 1/16. a long press on some menu. why is this not the default? if they want more, throw me a +/- , dont change to 1/32
