If that guy is so upset he missed out on video games at a yard sale because someone got there first, he should get out of the hobby or just stop going to yard sales and buy at stores. The hobby is only fun when you have fun and stay happy.

So if there was a scenario where you went to go meet up with somone to buy a game and it was a group that robbed you, beat you up. And hauled you off to the middle of nowhere in the woods. Youd be walkin 50 miles back to civilization signing and happy like well i didnt get the games i wanted but this is part of the fun adventure!
Or if you started a business went bankrupt ended up homless sleeping under a cardboard box youd be like it went the complete opposite as i hoped, so thats even better that it didnt workout!

"Greedy Cat" hahahahaha Dude was too salty. If someone beat me to a sale, I would just walk away without saying anything and go to the next yard sale. People take this too serious. I usually just bring $400 with me to yard sales. The most I've ever spent on a collection was $650.
I messaged the guy hosting the sale the night before and established that I would purchase everything. I dont snake people deals, if I showed up late I eat the loss and head to the next sale, its nature of this hobby you will be on both ends at some point.

In all my years of game hunting I've been in both sides of the situation dozens of times, and whenever I'm the one late to the party I'm cordial and let the other party take their time and whatever they don't want I will be next in line to checkout, I've made many friends by being polite during these situations to where we now look out for things that the other's collect and will let them know of any deals...I think the dude you encountered might not be a collector/gamer ...but just a reseller those are the people I usually have a problem with for they are only interested In themselves.

Same thing happened to me at a retro video game store I use to work at. Whenever we got trade ins, the workers got to pick out a game or two to buy if we had the money at that moment to get it. I had gotten Legend of Dragoon and Mario Kart Double Dash. I got it first cause I was working that day, my coworker who was my friend at the time, came in a few minutes later, started claiming it. I told her no, called our boss, and he said "She claimed it already, it's hers". She too also called me greedy and said I buy all the good games. Lol! That was like my first in store purchase, and she worked there longer than I have. And that's actually the reason why she ended our friendship too.

I've been on both sides of this situation many times. It's the nature of the beast. Best thing to do is try and beat you to the next sale or see if this guy has action figures/records/media/vintage t shirts. Tons upon tons of great stuff out there.

Once in a yard sale I asked the seller: Do you have any videogames? She said oh yes, I have some, and She brought some PS3 games, then a guy that's also looking for videogames came and asked also for videogames, but He asked for "Vintage" videogames, the lady day I have some, and She brought one super Nintendo and a Nintendo 64 with games, $ 5 dls each, I was really pissed off!!!!

I bought something at the Gem Mineral show in Tuscon. I was at the booth seconds before someone who wanted the same thing. He was standing right behind me. Paid 5,000. Sold two days later 10,000! How about the person buying the winning lotto ticket. Your standing in line and want to buy the same ticket! Or the people who did not go to work on 9/11! Life is a chess game, luck, and definitely timing!!!

Yeah this has happened to me before I just “yeah that’s a great lot of games”. The next garage sale I found a in box Dreamcast with 12 games 3 controllers and 2 VMUs for $50 so That made up for it.
That guy was definitely rude, but it could have been a lot worse. There is a douche who lives in the same area as me who will literally walk up to a seller and say he will pay 25% more than what I'm offering (or anyone else; he is well known). I got him back by going to my friend's garage sale and getting him to pay 75% higher than retail on a worthless pile of shovelware my friend was trying to get rid of.
People Don't Realize How Competitive The Resale Market Is. I use to sell weed then use my profits for auctions, flea markets and the internet. I had more competition buying antiques than anything else I've ever sold.

Ya it's fine to get to sale early, but u have to be respectful. If no one's outside yet, don't be knocking on people's door. If someone is outside getting ready for the sale just respectfully ask them if it's ok to shop. If not be respectful and go to your car and wait. 9 times out of 10 they will say ya come on and shop then strike up a conversation and let them know what your there for
Some video game collectors/reseller are the worst. I've almost seen fist fights over stuff before on more then one occasion. First come first serve, like you said. If you beat me to it, good on you.Though once I had a guy try the old "how much is he paying, I'll give you more" on some stuff we'd already agreed on price for. That was the one time I got really angry at someone. I mean, come on, man. Some people have no sense of being a decent human, they just want to get what they somehow thing they deserve (even when they don't).

in 2018 i knocked a guy out cold at a garage sale ,,he came up and started the same mouthing off but more agressive,rite while i was buying a lot' ,,because i beat him to every sale and was buying everything (obviously) he called me a "goof" and i layed him out with one punch,, you would think the guy who's sale it was would be pissed,,but he actually was on my side and ended up giving me a killer deal hahaha,, the guy i punched stumbled to his car and left,, i seen him the next week at a sale and he said sry and apologized ,, humbled him ,,some people just need a good punch,,ya know,,

Plenty of people have beat me to sales first. Just how the game works. I went to one house and 2 guys ended up beating me. But the guy was a big reseller and was getting out of it so he had tons of other stuff. I left very happy.

I am happy when I can locate a random retro game and/or console here. The last score for me was about $300-$330 worth of Gameboy stuff for $70 at a local auction. I was kinda hoping not too many others would bid me up, but it was still a decent price for everything I got. 👍

Pricecharting.com is a website that I use to get a quick estimate on the value of everything I pick up, its kind of hit or miss, some stuff will be undervalued and some stuff won't be findable at all, but for what it is its a great tool for a quick estimate
