Absolutely loving Sub in this game. People are hating on his damage which I do agree is a little low but he just has such a good kit that it doesn't bother me. Being able to control the pace and spacing of the match is very helpful to someone newer like myself. Also just a little side note whoever worked on the SFX for Sub deserves a raise. That ice crackle is the best sound in the game.
Not talking about the damage nerf but they did nerf his best advancing mid string and that's what killed him I still play him and I would even be fine with the lower damage I would just rather have them fix his buttons and frame data

I agree. I can’t stand the insufferable crying of Sub mains. He’s not top tier but definitely good enough to be used effectively. It’s just that he takes more skill than some other characters. The only thing Sub needs is a slightly buffed ice clone and MAYBE a minimal damage buff. With the ice clone working better he’s even better defensively though, so there needs to be an offensive trade-off.
I wouldn't say desperately. I have a positive record with him right now and I suck lol. He is able to really control the pace of the fight and has some nice mix up. Just needs a tad more damage to be more inline with his combo potential.

Anyone worth their salt is going to be crouch blocking unless they see the overhead or go to fuzzy the 3rd hit of his overhead strings. And them guessing right on block is a full combo. Not really worth it imo.
@@Usersunitedi did mention mid-low level play. It is definitely at least worth knowing for klutch situations. I rarely use it which is why it's typically effective. You can also cancel it to retreat or make it safe with ice klone or something. Just a way to mix-up the formula.
How tf is it a good mix up option? It's overhead into high, not overhead into overhead so the low slide is irrelevant after the first hit when you stand block the first then crouch the second. Also no, ice clone retreat is not safe since you can armour through it on reaction for a legit punish. Do you even play the game or have watched the video?
Love this guide. Interestingly, the second BnB combo you showed does slightly more damage without the jump 1. I just went straight into back 2 and it did 3% more for an easier combo. Hate the way his combos stale bc it rewards easier combos lol but it is what it is, for now.
I been trying Stryker for the arrest reset to try to help compensate for his damage plus the extra health. Subs my favorite but I’m struggling to play him I’m already no pro and the nerfs aren’t helping

how come sometimes when I press the second b2 ( after I confirmed the first b2) subzero does a block instead of b2? I dont even press the block button. its weird this is happening to me since 3 days, lost tons of matches because of this. and this never happened to me before since the release of mk1. also sup with all these online players in KL having subzero, scorp and havik avatar pictures yet using smoke and oniman? lol its like 60% of all my matches in KL are vs smoke and oniman!
Im surprised you didn't talk about scorpion kameo. You get a full combo after his low string, ex slide and he give you full combo mix ups off his low, his F1-2 string and safety with cancelable strings
You can go that route if you want ( more damage) but having a kameo to hide some of subzeros bad buttons and punishable strings or having goro make your back 2 safe is alot better than pure damage

So the Clone coming out or not coming out is sort of the mix but if the oponent "guesses"/reacts when the clone comes out SZ is in trouble because of the Recovery not allowing to block in time? And MB Clone isn't safe either to not give SZ full screen control even at the cost of 2 bars even tho at the same time it would just reset back to neutral for both sides. I'm having a hard time deciding if this is fair because even if the Clone is out and you don't punish it, SZ still has no way in cause of the Recovery from using Clone, meaning the oponent can stay Blocking or back up, the oponent is pretty much safe but if the oponent has a TP then they can fully circumvent the supposed space advantage SZ has and pretty likely still get a punish on the Clone due to the Recovery frames. There's no reason to respect the Clone threat if it's reactable. I guess the fairest thing to do is reduce the recovery to where Clone is barely safe so SZ can't be punished 100% of the time. That would simply reset both sides to Neutral right? While at the same time it negates SZ advantage because if the oponent doesn't react then they're still blocking and safe so it's not like you can spam clone at the end of block strings and recreate free pressure. Plus there's the CD aswell to prevent that scenario so i guess it's possible to make Clone safe or safe-ish in most general situations be reducing the Recovery SZ must endure.

Does sektor's teleport uppercut protect sub-zero in the same way that goro's uppercut does? Like can I go in with 12 and call in sektor to prevent a counter and keep me safe?
I think Subzero Ice Ball Should only be blocked by high Block. not low blocking. I think if Ice Slide is low block, Ice thrust Mid Block, and Ice ball High block. The biggest issue really is most of Subzero arsenal and attacks are nullified by blocking low and the only real attacks to get past it take to long to wind up. Unless im missing something
Idk guys, but with scorpion kameo i menaged to pull 39% with 2 bars and 1 kameo. And from low its 310 damage. So scorpion is definetily best kameo in my opinion
Nice vid but honestly the character is borderline unplayable in the competitive scene. Other characters have meterless 40 percent combos he can’t compete at the moment.

The Grandmaster is back.
I pair him with Frost. Corner them. Hide behind clone while frost sets up her tracking ice ball. Pretty effective so far.
You can also cancel the first hit of B2 into a low slide. Its a good mixup option. Especially for mid-low level play
