COOKING TERRACOTTA
Cooking the terracotta finishes a long process of manufacture: the extraction of the clay is followed by shaping the brick, or tile, which is then dried for a long time before cooking.
There are different techniques for carrying out clay firing. But in all cases, the heating must be progressive to reach a final temperature of 750 to 1000 ° C depending on the materials, the nature of the clay and the desired color.
For large furnaces such as brick-and-mortar tiles, it is a process that lasts for several days and requires continuous attention.
Over the centuries and around the world, the techniques have long remained immutable and slowly improved.
VERTICAL KILN
Its basic system consists of feeding a fireplace (heating chamber) directly under the cooking load (cooking chamber), through a perforated surface (sole) placed on pillars and walls.
