    As an actor in the late 80's and early 90's I read for Mark a few times (first time was for a NY soap called Loving for the role of Trucker). He always brought me in for producers. He remembered me when I was in LA in the early-mid 90's and requested tape on me (from my brief time as a villain on an NBC soap) when the role of Sonny came up on GH. Mark was always kind and great to read for. A true professional. A really nice man .
    Thank you Maurice for all you are doing for mental health. Bravo.

    I’m a teacher at a preschool with a buddy bench on our playground. You’d be surprised how many 3-5 year old children just need to talk sometimes. It’s the greatest thing ever to sit down with them and hear what’s going on their little minds, I love my job.

    I believe many many of your followers are being helped without realizing it. Just listening to you talk Maurice with your guests helps us all. We don’t feel alone. We get to listen to you Maurice, your guests and each other. A perfect place to go for mental health plus we can get help from our own homes. I really believe you save lives. Mine for sure. Without a doubt.

    I wasn’t going to watch today because I never heard of Mark Teschner. Ended up watching later and so glad I did. Terrific interview. Very professional, classy yet down to earth man. To find someone who loves their job as much as he does and is so good at it is a rarity. Found the process of casting so interesting. Since I love all the characters on GH he should get a lot of the credit for casting them.

    Maurice, thank you for helping people who really need help... I have watched general hospital since I was a kid with my grandmother and mother and now I just watch. General hospital is like family to me. I am forty-six years old. I want to meet general hospital actors someday. General hospital has been a constant in my life throughout the years..
    Sincerely, Julia Mager

    Truly appreciated Mark's perspective and also insight into being an actor essentially helped him to be successful in casting. It gave him empathy; it enabled him to coach without realizing it. Also to hear the story about Vanessa Marcil - that's something we all can relate too. I truly believe we do not see ourselves as others do. It's a wake up call, isn't it? None of us are alone in this adventure called life if we would only reach out. Thank you for reaching out, Maurice, and making it real. Much respect.

    What a beautiful community we have here and it's all thanks to you Mr. Benard. You never had to utter a word about mental illness, look at how many souls you are helping. I really believe lives are being saved. I really wish you all knew how much you help us in our everyday lives. In times life can become overwhelming and it's nice to become lost in a soap opera, movie, or a good book. You are an incredible actor but also a champion for mental health. I don't think you don't enjoy acting anymore you are just entering a new stage in your life. It is your life and you have to do what is best for you and your beautiful family. I pray your channel has so much success and grows beyond your wildest dreams. I think it would be so much easier for you to walk away from GH. We all could be selfish and want you to stay doing something you no longer enjoy, but that would be unfair to you. You are just doing an amazing job. I wish all of Hollywood was as genuine as you. I knew you weren't 5'2, now everyone thinks you are. The good thing is you can only get taller. When people see your real height now everyone will think you are tall. 😂🤣5'2 is short not 5'9 😂😂😂

    I understand what he was talking about when he mentioned being young in the 70's and how mental health just wasn't discussed or brought out of the darkness then, like it is now. I know just how true that is because I have been struggling with my own mental health issues since the early 70's. I didn't actually get a therapist and begin my inner work until 2019. You were so right Maurice, when you spoke about the pandemic being both a blessing and a curse with regard to bringing mental health to the forefront. It gave so many of us a chance to get still. Stillness brings awareness. Awareness brings the ability to see the road that you are on that was cluttered up with so much garbage. I can't even begin to imagine how much harder it must be to become an actor with all the landmines, not to mention if you are dealing with a mental health issue in the mix. You were lucky in how Mark worked WITH you during your hard time and the support he obviously gives, not just to you but apparently to all the people he casts for the show. Not many in his occupation would give a shit. I love how he finds so much joy in what he does. We need more people like him, not just as a CD for GH. But in the world. Loved this interview! 💌🌟

    While this has nothing to do with Maurice, I have to say I am a 66 year old woman who started watching the show in elementary school with my best friend and her mom, who was suffering through cancer. We’d walk to her house and sit with her mom who loved GH. My husband (of 43 years) arranged his classes at college around GH (long before recording was available!). Now, retired, we record each and every episode and watch during our Friday and Saturday date nights. ❤️

    I did the Breakdowns at Breakdown Services aka The Go-Between. Mark was part of the service until the brick and mortar business closed down. All my rush drivers had nothing but nice things to say about Mark. He was always kind to me.
    Some other casting directors were pretty rude and demanding.

    I’ve always wanted to be an actress but never got to get any schooling on it, I would totally love to be on GH , I love the family, but what really get me worked up is the acting it’s self. The talent to pull another in pretending to be another person, Maurice your brilliant, I love seeing behind the scene, and bloopers is what makes everyone closer cause we’re all just human, you help me more than you’ll ever know, Thank you Maurice 😔❤️

    Hi Maurice, Finally able to watch this tonight. My husband and I unfortunately tested positive for Covid even though we were fully vaccinated. Trying to get better. Have Covid is very frightening. It has taken a toll on me and my mental health. No matter what when I watch State of Mind it does help me. It's really cool finding more what Mark does and being there for over 32 years wow that's amazing. I absolutely agree with what was said. No one should never have to wait to get help. There needs to be more resources available. Most of all more program's and therapy. Its so sad that mental health was never out in the open for way too many years. I was always kept behind closed doors. I'm glad that it's out in the open. It should have been that way a long time ago. No one should have to suffer and feel like there alone. It is vital that parents keep the communication, with there kids no matter how old they are. It tears me up when I hear that a child or teenager commits suicide due to being bullied. I was bullied while I was in high school and it's a terrible thing to ever go through. Looking forward to next Sunday. Take care Maurice for another amazing episode.

He is so interesting and kind. This encouraged me to drop by when I do not see the familiar face of an actor. I probably could use some acting lessons to lessen how my eyes give me away when I don't want them to, lol! It's amazing how some people are so confident or do well in hiding their fears.

      @@lovelylace4896 I appreciate your kind words. I’m not suicidal or not caring for myself. What I am is, extremely angry! Im angry at God for taking him away from us at such a young age! He was only 44!!! Im angry at my brother bc he didn’t take better care of himself like he should’ve! I’m hurt and angry that he never wanted to be my friend, just my brother, I’ll always be his bratty little sister instead. I’m angry at his partner for moving on SO forking quickly! He met someone new in May of this year! Brad died Last November! It’s totally disrespectful and then to say, he thinks Brad is leading him to this new guy is ridiculous! To me, he’s spitting on Brad’s memory! They were together 5 years, he moved on too fast!

    • @lovelylace4896
      @lovelylace4896 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@angelasurratt5908 I am so sorry for your pain. I wish loved ones realized how there choices impact their families. I wish family members spent more time with those that would care if they died. I have seen so many times people spending time with people that wouldn't miss a beat if they died. I'm sorry you and your brother didn't have more time together. My advice to you is to forgive your brother. Anger can have such a negative impact on your body. It's ok to be angry but rid yourself of it quickly, focus on all the good times you shared with your brother. You are hurting and anger is sometimes how we cope. We try to be angry because it's so much easier to face the fact that we will never see them again if we are mad at them. We all grieve differently, some people have to move on for their well being. I do understand how you feel about your brothers boyfriend. You are probably thinking, Did he genuinely care for my brother at all? It will get better with time but you have a right to feel whatever. It is how we heal and cope.
