    Dear Mike,
    thank you for your story.
    A video with a lot of soul.
    Your 2nd song is one of my favorite songs (reminds me of my mom). Your video made me happy haha!
    Planning on getting them as well and I make sure that the first song on them is "Here comes the sun" ;-)
    All the best,
    Glenn from Germany

    Mike, hope all is well. Your video prompted me to do research into Klipsch speakers. 4 years after my original post, proud owner of RF-7III. No matter what type of music or movie, these speakers sound awesome to my ears. Clear. Powerful and detailed. Fantastic speakers. Thank you

    That was a wonderfully-made and produced video. It was very enjoyable to watch, and I even felt the "surge" of anticipation waiting for the music to play. I only have a "baby" pair of Klipsch bookshelf speakers, but in my dreams, I would now purchase the RF7-II's! (If only the wife would agree!)

    These speakers are monsters. When I first saw the size compared to the rf42 I couldn't believe how big they were. The stock photo doesnt do them justice. I wish I could hear some.... Maybe even buy a pair. Congrats!

    I watched your video on my PC that is equipped with Klipsch Promedia 5.1's (they are 10 years old but still the best speakers on PC in my opinion). Even through TH-cam's shoddy quality your speakers still sounded great :) I'd like to hear them in person!

    Nicely done video and great choice of first demo songs for us viewers. I am just getting into home theater and don't have an amp to even drive these with. I don't think my present desktop amp (Audio Engine N22) for my bookshelf computer speakers will adequately drive these. But no worries there because 4 days after their arrival (via 2 day air shipping) to me on the North Dakota prairie, I still have no time or energy to open these and set them up.

    Why did you not BI - amp them when they are abel to??

    • @mikeavguy
      @mikeavguy  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question - thanks. From sewelldirect.com/learning-center/bi-wire-and-bi-amp: [Since both sets of cables connect to the same ports on the amplifier, many people argue that there is no benefit to this kind of setup and that it is a waste of money. However, many audio enthusiasts feel that bi-wiring good speakers can make a subtle improvement to middle range sound.] These speakers sound so great, I've always been content to just trust Klipsch and their crossover choice - occasionally tweaking the EQ. I spend my time and effort on finding new (and old) music to listen to; that, among other things, is how I spend my time. But if rewiring speaker connections makes some people happy, I'm all for it. If there is an appreciable difference, with these particular speakers, I want to know about it. Thanks again.

  • @cinemasix4418

    mikeavguy......This is a fantastic video. I'm searching for new speakers and you've made me interested in the RF-7ii 's. I've done a lot of research but have not been able to audition them. I was able to audition the RP-280F which I like. Some people have said Klipsch speakers have a certain brightness or harshness in the highs. Do you find the 7ii fatiguing?

  • @User-vi7wr
    @User-vi7wr 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    what AMP do you use? IF i am correct they are 250W each. i have the RF-600 at 125W each, i use HK 3490, which gives out 100w per channel. i Beleive it is underpowered.

  • @creativeganesh
    @creativeganesh 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Excellent review. Would be interested to know how you decided on the klipsh and what all did you consider.
    Did you consider other speakers? Like ascend acoustics Sierra tower or the Salk song tower around the same price?, I was also looking to buy rf7's but based on what I am reading and from the listening I have done looks the ascends and Salk compare to 5x their cost speaker like b&w 800 series. I am kind for convinced though I have not made a direct comparison with the rf7's I think I am getting the ascend.

    • @mikeavguy
      @mikeavguy  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +creativeganesh Thanks for watching - great comment. I did consider/demo many speakers, and I couldn't beat the Klipsch RF7-II price-wise. Pricing the Ascends and the Salks, the Klipsch's still came in substantially lower. Good luck with your purchase - when you get them set up, make a quick demo/review video, and please send me the link. Thanks again!

      Thanks for the nice review. They're better than ever; powered by an Onkyo 8050 receiver/80w per channel. Some might say that's underpowered, but they sound phenomenal. One of the best investments I ever made.

    After almost two years of use, how are they holding up? I'm in the market for some Klipsch towers, but those woofers look way too big for my needs. I already have a Klipsch subwoofer. I was looking at the RF-82 IIs

    • @mikeavguy
      @mikeavguy  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      They're holding up great -- they seem to be getting BETTER, believe it or not. I've demo'd top of the line Bowers and Wilkins($16k each) and Wharfdales ($2400 each), and... I like the RF7-II's better. The RF-82's need a subwoofer, so I'm sure you'll have a great system if you put that together.

    Sweet set-up! I’ve always thought a good pair of stereo speakers is just as good as any surround. One question… What kind of amp do you have driving them? How much power do they need? I have a pretty large room… But I think two truly good speakers that can handle the volume would cut it. Nice choice of music to start with… You can’t go wrong with the Beatles.

    • @mikeavguy
      @mikeavguy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you - powered by my Onkyo 8050/80w per channel receiver. Plenty of power, believe it or not. Excellent fidelity. Check out my latest demo video with much better microphones: th-cam.com/video/5eDsDkiQS0g/w-d-xo.html

    • @cnyphotovideo
      @cnyphotovideo 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      mikeavguy Ahhh. I watched the other video. Very cool. I like the touch of the Guinness beer and the Beatles pint. I listened to it using Bluetooth on my Bose wave. The bass, mids and treble were clear. Sounds great! It’s so happens I have the Onkyo TX - SR 674. 7.1 95 watts per channel. But I like the idea of a true 2 ch stereo receiver. I have a Klipsch surround system connected to it right now but my sub woofer is shot. Plus I really never use it for movies.... 95% music. Also those particular speakers are on sale right now. Got me thinking!!! I was a teenager in the 70s… I like the retro look. Plus Paul McCartney just played a 3 hour show here at the Carrier Dome in September...I’m still pumped over it. Great shots of the UK by the way. Thanks.

    Could also get the Cornwall 3 for a touch more money. Better midrange. The Heresys would be less money but they don;t have a ton of bass by themselves.

    • @mikeavguy
      @mikeavguy  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Mitt Zombie I haven't heard the Cornwalls in many years (they're hard to find and demo). I did recently listen to the Heresy's a relative owns -- they sound awesome -- but I missed the fullness of the RF7-IIs. I have that experience with a lot of speakers: they sound terrific, pleasing, and expensive - but they lack the realism of the RF7-IIs. It's a strange phenomenon, knowing that you may own the best speakers ever made...

    Great video! Enjoy your speakers! I would like your opinion on whether my pioneer receiver SC-LX75 (European model, 140watts per channel at 8 ohms), will be able to adequately power these speakers. I am thinking of buying them! Thank you.

    • @Ladco77
      @Ladco77 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      0101001101010 I don't know if the RF7-II responds the same way my earlier version RF-7 speakers do, but while I've noticed you don't need much total power, having an amp with a strong power supply and plenty of extra capacity helps keep up with the transient response needed. I started with an old Pioneer AV receiver and it sounded good, but when I upgraded amps (Outlaw Audio ), I noticed the sound became much more relaxed. It's hard to describe. Watt ratings don't tell the whole story.

    • @amol0010
      @amol0010 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Joseph Jove Do you think this amp should suffice for these speakers ?

    Think you should lay down a carpet in front of these beautiful speakers because I can hear echo from the recording also you have a tile floor. Love the speakers.

    • @mikeavguy
      @mikeavguy  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Kalsang Dorjee Thank you for your observation. The reason you hear "echo" is because I placed the camcorder, with the built-in mic, too far out from the speakers (my mistake). The room isn't that "bright," actually. Here's a shorter demo, where I used a professional mic, placed near the speakers, for a much more accurate audio sampling: th-cam.com/video/tAbYEY9bO-4/w-d-xo.html

  • @phantasm1004
    @phantasm1004 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The one mistake made here was destroying the boxes. Big mistake. Boxes should always be stored for future use. You never if/when you will want/need to transport the speakers, and the best thing to transport them in are the boxes that they came in. Now...if you plan to NEVER EVER move out of the house you're living in now, and NEVER EVER have to ship them anywhere for repairs, then fine...get rid of the boxes.

    • @mikeavguy
      @mikeavguy  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +phantasm1004 - Thanks for your comment. You'll be happy to know I meet all your criteria! I do agree that the best way to transport the speakers is in their original boxes; however, 1) I don't plan on moving, ever. 2) There's a local speaker repair guy who does some of the best work in the USA (nealspeakerrepair.com/) and I can just take the speakers to him via my mini-cargo van. Assuming, of course, my mini-cargo van is still running in 20 years when the speakers may need repair... 3) Lastly, did you see the size of those boxes?! Together, they take up the space of a Prius. Also, the box-system provided by Klipsch requires the 4 Styrofoam sections per box, to suspend the speakers within the box. That's too much to store, even for the AVguy! Thanks again.

    • @scottyo64
      @scottyo64 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have tried to keep boxes but the RF7 II boxes were just too big to hang on to. I have some of my boxes but they are a PIA. Out of all the electronics and speakers I own the RF7 IIs are the ones that will stay with me.

  • @kgbcorvette
    @kgbcorvette 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Congrats on these beauties :-) A tip....buy a nice carpet to put on the floor infront of the speakers and/or under the coffeetable and the sound will be even better. Those granite floors do nothing good to the sound :-(

    • @mikeavguy
      @mikeavguy  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +kgbcorvette Thanks for your comment -- the floor is tile, not granite, but I get your point. However, you probably can't see it in the video, but the room is pretty well dampened with an area rug, furniture, etc. -- so I gotta say, the speakers sound fantastic. Every type of music comes alive, and becomes an "event" if I crank it loud enough. One of the best purchases I ever made. Thanks again for your input.

      Google "speaker cable myths" and you'll find lots of scientific information about speaker cable and connectors like this: [It’s true that for long runs, thicker wires are better at reducing the effects of resistance. But for most set ups (those with speakers within 100 ft of the amplifier), 16-gauge lamp cord is fine. For speakers 100 to 200 ft. from the amp, experts suggest use 14 gauge. And from 200 to 400 ft., they recommend 12-gauge wires. Using extremely thick wire for short runs yields virtually no audible benefit, at least none most people can hear.]

      I agree; that demo sound wasn't very accurate. My latest demo used stereo Shure SM-58 mics, and it turned out pretty good. They actually sound much closer to how I think they really sound: th-cam.com/video/5eDsDkiQS0g/w-d-xo.html

    nice speakers sound very good, but one big mistake on this video i saw cheap speaker cable and one more mistake no connector, poor connection. if you pay a lot of money for speakers dam get some good speakers cable with nice connector!! anyway good luck!

      +victor feliciano Thanks for your input, Victor (and maybe a thumbs down?), and I hate to break it to you, but you're dead wrong. Using extremely thick wire for short runs yields virtually no audible benefit, at least none most people can hear.] Victor, my setup sounds GREAT. They don't call me the "AVguy" for nothing!

      i know all about speakers cable size and more, what i was saying is the no connector at the end of the cable / that it. thanks good sound!! enjoy

      +victor feliciano Thanks, Victor, I appreciate your comment. When it comes to connectors, like banana plugs: they are primarily for convenience with connecting/disconnecting speakers - not sound quality. Since my speakers aren't moving any time soon, banana plugs would be a waste of time and money. Thanks for watching my video, and contributing to the discussion.

    Glad you played some rock on those when you first hooked them up, and not that gay lounge music most audiophiles use.

    How about some newer music . .. trance.

      Thanks, that's a great suggestion - I like trance, house, ambient, etc. I'm planning on doing a "sampler" video with many different types of music going through the Klipsch RF7-II's. Stay tuned.

      @mikeavguy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dear Franimal - Thank you for your advice and unfiltered commentary, however: 1) I don't plan on moving. 2) I can always buy new protective covering, boxes, bubblewrap, etc. 3) Those boxes were HUGE. It would be like keeping the box your refrigerator came in.

      Beatles were a "boy band?" That's outrageous, Porkchop Papi!! Although you may be technically correct, I've Got a Feeling you may not understand the cultural meaning of "boy band."

      mikeavguy.......Great video. What are your room dimensions? Considering getting these or the new RF-7iii as part of home theater package. My room is 13x 22x7.5. Do you find them to be too much for your room?

    • @mikeavguy
      @mikeavguy  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your comment and question. It's a big room, about 14x28', with a 16' (at peak) high cathedral ceiling. The speakers seem to be made for the room. With the right recording, at the right volume, if you close your eyes, it sounds like the musicians are in the room.

      I hear you loud and clear, Mr. Berry. However, the dust in my house is hard enough to manage -- I don't need another surface to clean, and I know myself -- I would obsess over keeping them dust-free. Out of sight, out of mind...

    too bad they cant accept bannana plugs.

    • @mikeavguy
      @mikeavguy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      They can -- I just don't need to. Banana plugs are for easier, frequent movement of components. They don't affect sound quality.
