This is what makes the show so goofy, the man basically doesn't give a shit about anything except his payback and someone he gets presented as the hero because the bad guy is such a pain that everyone decides to follow along.
I give credit for Vann not wavering in his determination. He wanted revenge, and didn't fall for any sob story. He went in, cut him down, and showed no mercy. The End.

Gun X Sword, the only anime where revenge isn't presented in an always-negative light, especially when the person the mc is taking revenge against is about to end the world.
I feel like the most common revenge that people shoehorn are kind of bad for the sake of showing revenge not gud, abandoning stuff, guilt remain/added and the sort. The stories where revenge is at least neutral are so far in between cuz theres a chance it will pull people to the evil-esque side
The Claw was always a little bit insane, but losing the Birthday system was what drove him over the edge, he still had sanity left before that (A little bit tho, but enough to let him speak with clarity)

The fact Dann is clinging to the hole left in the mech, as if wanting to see Vann finally get his revenge, is what truly sells this scene to me

相手がどす黒い邪悪な上にヴァンがウェンディ達のお陰もあって復讐の為に無関係な人を極力犠牲にしなかったのもある。
様々な困難を乗り越えて、途中で挫折したり、傷付いたりしながらも徐々に追い詰めていき、ようやく相見える。
が、復讐は一瞬で終わる。
この演出が最高に好き。
