I'm watching your video as I am opening my CGN box with FF by Millar/Hitch! What timing!
This is a cool collection, and I'm glad it contains some of the "Millar but not Hitch" and "Hitch but not Millar" material, because it probably wouldn't get collected elsewhere. I wish it had come out before the HIckman FF reissues - because I had NO CLUE who those Nu Earth characters were! At first I just thought Hickman made them up
Yeah I had to look that up too. I was a little confused
So excited for this one! I only read that first trade paperback but loved it, can’t wait to read the whole run.

I honestly had forgotten most of this run from when it came out, was just here to see the variants honestly, its not a must buy for me, but great overview. Dwayne MacDuffie's run id love in a reprinted hardcover format, its an underrated run to me. That or Walt Simonsons.
I would really like for them to do a Joeph Loeb/ Carlos Pacheco collection or the Claremont/ Alan Davis runs. I really enjoyed those much more than this one which is surprising since I normally love Mark Millar.
You aren't alone, I'd love those. This run is overhyped and overrated...

I’d love to see Grant Morrison do a Fantastic Four run. It seems like the perfect match especially considering the science and exploration aspect of the team and the metaphysical mind of Morrison. Marvel please make it happen.
We did get to see a glimpse of it in Fantastic Four 1234 mini-series. Pretty good stuff.
OMG, no… Morrison did have a pitch in private on FF, but I don’t think you would want it. Just give you a taste, his pitch includes some near incest stuff between storm siblings.

I enjoyed this run. Maybe a bit underwhelming, but as a Millar-Hitch collaboration fan I was happy with it.

I consider this pretty much essential reading before you go into Hickman's run. This sets up so much that Hickman played with. There's some annoying parts of this, the Johnny Storm stuff is pretty over the top, and I feel like the Ben Grimm storyline rehashes places we've seen him go before, but I really like the Reed and Sue storyline and the overall plot with ne

Had the standard HCs. Read them heaps. They're alright stories with nice art but it doesn't feel like the FF to me.

Never read it but I'm a FF fan, Millar fan, and oh boy give some widescreen Hitch action man. I'm probably the only person on the face of the planet that wants it, but I would really like James Robinson's run in an omni. I thought it was a nice farewell to Marvel's first family before they shelved them due to the movie rights battle with Fox. Take care and peace everyone.

I believe 1985 is set on Earth-1219 (which is one number above our own Earth-1218) which is where Kick Ass and all the other Millarworld titles are set.

I just bought this too, and compared to the trade paperbacks, the black colors look faded and dark gray more than a deep black. Did I just get a bad copy or is yours the same way?
If I recall Fantastic Four , 1985 and Old Man Logan are all tied together.

I just received this omnibus and the black colors look really faded, almost a dark gray. It's this way throughout the Omnibus. Is anyone else's copy like this or did I just get a bad one?

I'll never forget starting Hickman's run and being dumbfounded by what in the hell is Nu Earth.
It’s essential to understand the Hickman run. It’s pretty good run until the final Doom story which just should not be read.

Its not the best F4 story but I don't think its awful or anything. Something worth picking up on a sale or something but I wouldn't be full price (or the 40% off on some online stores)

Not good, one of the worst FF runs IMO. Waid's is superior in every way. I never thought Hitch and Millar understood how to write the F4. Only good as a precursor into Hickman's run.
I am very excited for this one. Regarding where this book goes in the library, I think it fits more just before Hickman's run (this book ends with FF #569 and Hickman's starts in #570) but also because some concepts bleed from this run to Hickman's (New Earth). The gap is in between this book and Waid's run.
And I am very happy 1985 is included, I was really rooting for that. I think it is the right place to collect it storywise.

I miss this style of comic book art. It seems like it flourished for a while and now there's been a massive retreat to this very minute, small panel by small panel storytelling.
This run is very good until they get to Doom. The Doom master story line is an absolute abomination. Maybe I should rip that one out?

This was a great run that set up Hickman’s. But I’m glad I have all these issues because this set is not worth $100. Inflation, amiright?!!
I didn't like this run at all, felt like it was a regression for the characters, particularly Johnny. I think the McDuffie/Pelletier run (that's only like a dozen issues) is better than this stuff and deserves more love and recognition.

Let me see... This run by Millar started good, but ended crappy. Because Millar or hitch finished it. That 1985 was also not that good. But the worst part was how Millar pro-trade Johnny Storm. A lot of this book to me, is just filler. So a super hard pass for me. As always good review.

Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch is a creative team that absolutely does not fit characters like the Fantastic Four.
