This song and mv were so criminally underrated when they came out originally. Korean wasn’t ready for this concept. Ga In has always been ahead of the curve. She was a pioneer for the “sexy” concept (as were the rest of the brown eyed girl) but as a soloist she conveys that confidence and sex appeal so fucking well. Her voice is also so unique and beautiful.
Gain deserved so much more recognition for paradise. No other female in kpop has ever had the balls to put out a mv this sensual and R rated compared to other soloist in kpop

This is such a great song and video. The video has lots of Bible themes, eapecially about Adam and Eve and the garden of Eden/paradice. She's also wearing almost a wedding dress - this aong came out after Knetizens criticised her heavily for her public relationship with another Korean celeb and they had mentioned that they didn't wait for mariage...So in a very conservative country like Korea she was massively attacked online (much like Hyuna now) so this song is kinda a clapback/protest song.

Yes! In the Bible, the snake was Satan in disguise who tempted Eve (Hawwah in Hebrew) to eat an apple from the Tree of Knowledge.
@@junojunok/videos Despite what the people telling that story thought it meant, it always seemed to me that Satan sounded like the good guy. Live eternally in ignorant bliss like the other animals, or gain the knowledge of the gods and determine our own destiny. If not for Satan, we'd have been that awkward homeschooled kid that freaks out when confronted with the outside world and goes on a killing spree.
@@PongoXBongo You can't forget that with them being expelled from paradise, came the bad side of life too. Yes, they were living in ignorance but also living in a world where nothing would go wrong. Satan in a way is a contrast and sort of a balance to God, the darkness to the light. Someone once commented, if Satan punishes the bad people, isn't he actually good and it has to do with the balance we need or we would be reigned by chaos.
@@rosietales They didn't know it was paradise until they lost it. There is no concept of "good" without a concept of "bad". If nothing can go wrong, there are no stakes, nothing to get emotionally invested in. Sure there is no loss or sorrow, but there is no triumph or joy either. Life is only precious because it is fragile and fleeting.
On paper, Gain and IU being friends seems completely unlikely . . . until you see what she's like off-screen.

The storyline for this video and album is crazy. It's based of the Adam and Eve story but it's from the Snake’s and Eve’s POV. Which in Korean is HaWah. GaIN always have these intricate and crazy concepts. I suggest checking out FxxK You. It's so sad but amazing

I've always loved this song but I forget about it sometimes. Thanks for refreshing my memory today. It's so damn good.
When I first listened to this when it came out, I thought the song was dark and demonic (teenager phase lol). Now, I see it as way way ahead of its time and a sexy concept not many artists would do even if they wanted to.
GaIn is one of those special artists and I'm sure more artists today will be influenced by her artistry.

The intro song. I used to listen to that song everyday on the road
lol so fitting this gets uploaded after I mentioned it yesterday! This song is iconic. If someone asks for the definition of empowered women, Gain and this song would be where I'd go. She's been through a lot of shit as well; getting slut shamed in Korea for her embracing of sexuality in her music, as well as problems with an abusive and exploitative ex boyfriend. She still commands huge respect though, as shown through BEG's recent resumption of activities.
Dame Diddy especially will be interested to note that Gain was brought in on Sixteen to judge the future Twice members' performances. JYP brought her in specifically; that's the level to which she's respected by other artists.
Also, I know you already know about the name, but when an artist uses her own name, it's easy to remember that Korean names usually contain three parts - so hers is Son Ga In, often written as Ga-in. Remembering that helps with pronouncing it correctly, even if it does inadvertently spell a word in English!
❤️I watched a few performances from Sixteen. That’s cool. I had no clue who the judges were. I didn’t know Gain was one of the judges. We plan on checking out more from her. In the meantime there’s a lot of new videos coming out soon so it may have to wait. It could end up on our Patreon where we have 100s of videos that don’t make it here or that would get blocked. Gain is amazing. I hope she does a comeback in the near future.

Ya'll keep playing my loves, I'm going to keep commenting. For starters, if you want to check out more Ga-In, you HAVE to watch her F-U video. We can have a WHOLE conversation on that. Paradise Lost was actually banned from 3 tv stations in Korea due to the sexy dances. Now that I think about it, A LOT of stuff Ga-In came out with has been banned either for lyrics or dance moves.
I agree with Ace about the mirror shot. I always wondered how they could do it without catching the cameras in any of them.

I don't know if this is a "fun" fact but apparently Gain was uncomfortable at the end of the MV with the naked men writhing on the floor behind her. She knew there were going to be male actors, but she didn't know they were going to be naked. She couldn't look at them.
