All of their music is atmospheric. Even hypnotic sometimes. They really worked hard on them. This particular ost plays when we finish the main story and/or enter a new galaxy so its almost like a credits song Bylov shoutout? Nice
Woo, it's finally out! Glad you liked it! Now that I think about it, No Man's Sky features flying...maybe I should request a song from Project Wingman or Ace Combat? Tough choices...
You might want to explore some of the videos of people just playing the game - there is a set of composed songs including this one for key moments in the game, but the bulk of what people hear while playing is being procedurally generated (maybe arranged?) according to what is happening around them. It uses 'atoms' that the band put together like riffs (with variations) and other sequences and what that means is that although every note is played by the band, they can play the game and hear a piece of music that is new to them. That thought is incredibly trippy! The genre is post-rock, though I've seen math-rock thrown and I'm a huge fan of much of the genre. Some of it skews a bit too ambient for me, but that's a taste thing. If you want more 65dos, I'd maybe point you at Retreat Retreat (the song that got them noticed IIRC), Radio Protector, I Drove Through Ghosts, Weak4, Undertow. If you want to hear other bands in the genre, I think the best starting point for a drummer would be Three Trapped Tigers with maybe their songs Cramm, Tekkers or Engrams. They have a drummer who has a background in Jazz so if you dig in to their material you should find some stuff that is technically impressive (which goes straight over the head of a limited musician like me!). Otherwise a search for post-rock, post-metal, math-rock, djent etc should bring you a bunch of bands to dig in to
wow, i've been following you for genshin reactions and i wasn't expecting to see a song from my favorite post rock album of all time haha. i adore this song and album, though ive never played no man's sky, i just like the band. really nice to hear your thoughts on it!

Dude, just eat their entire back catalogue. Start with The Fall of Math album and go from there, you won’t regret it.

Genre: Space
highly recommend you check out asimov by the same band, one of my favorite songs of all time.
You should listen to Px3 - 65daysofstatic. The drums in that are incredible.
I think the genre is post-rock, maybe?
Genre: Space
Definitely - always reminds me of bands like God is an Astronaut, Explosions in the Sky, Sithu Aye, and Lights & Motion
Post-rock, though I've occasionally heard terms like Math-Rock thrown around.
