I went to buy vanilla extract at Kroger the other day and there was a sign that said an employee had to get it for me from the back. Poor guy has likely seen worse, but this is just weird. Imagine getting to a potential OD location and encountering a woman that smells like sugar cookies. She has all the signs of substance abuse, but you still have to question what circumstances got you to this point.
That's exactly what I thought too. At least when she gets caught being drunk she's not on an illegal substance. Alcohol and crack are both awful to be addicted to but I always felt like crack was one of the more extreme option.
@@TemperedMediaI think we forget that she’s obviously mentally unstable, and when someone’s not in the right of mind, they’re not going to respond correctly to any question.
It’s quite literally a vanilla bean soaking in vodka I used to bake with my aunt all the time and she used to make her own homemade extract I was mind blown when I found out I always asked if I put this in the cake are we all gonna be drunk 😂😂
My estranged cousin worked at a nursing home. She is a meth addict, and came to work after a long bender. That night she fell asleep at the desk and a dementia patient left the facility alone. He ended up freezing to death. I can’t stand the level of selfishness this kind of shit requires.
I hate making this assumption, because you never really know, but I'm struggling to believe that this was a suicide attempt, and rather a cry for attention, or a means of trying to manipulate her addiction issues and the consequences with it, under the guise of a suicide attempt.
Vanilla extract can lead to intoxication very similar to being drunk. Majority of flavor extracts do that (I didn't know that adding mint extract instead of real mint did that when making a Moscow mule. Basically stumbled up my stairs to bed)
do you just not know how its made? extract (just in general not specifically vanilla) is made by taking a solvent typically a very highproof alcohol and stripping away the oils and flavor from whatever youre extracting.
Kinda crazy to think about the amount of functioning alcoholics actively getting drunk every day either before or at work. Kind of a staggering amount, many in important and high paying positions. I was one of those people as recently as 5 years ago.
The first police officer needs to be award something. He approached an individual who was clearly in a mental health issue, with compassion, understanding and "meeting her where she's at". For someone who works in mental health, i applaud this officer with everything he did, even when she spat at the EMT/EMS.
"Clearly in a mental health issue...." I'm firstly irritated by these Orwellian constructions. "in an issue..." Seriously. Nobody behaves badly anymore. Nobody makes poor choices. Nobody is responsible for their behaviour. Nobody is just a "nasty piece of work" who most likely treats people abominably when sober, but in a passive-aggressive way with a smile, and when under the influence of something the inhibitions are numbed and the false smile fades and it is just pure nasty.
The Orwellian language is worrying. "in a mental health issue." If you work in mental health it is a danger sign for what is going on in that industry.
@@annatanneberger1Is this you or the ignorance talking? No one said she was not responsible for her actions, and no one is just a ‘nasty piece of shit’ thats not how this works. Things are more complex than that.
@@annatanneberger1and how does judging people give you a good base from which to help them? All of us have behaved badly at some low point in our lives, and many people have grown out of those low places to go on and help lift up others. If you start from a place of judgment, you condemn them in the belief that they can't be any better than the worst version of themselves
Some chronic alcoholics can tolerate levels of alcohol that would be lethal to the average human. One of my family members once told me she had a patient who had consumed multiple bottles of vodka as well as another substance (cooking wine?). The person ended up leaving the hospital a day later only to return the next week with a similar issue.
Me too. I felt like an idiot because the training was hard af. At least I didn't show up messed up and suicidal. Thank you society, for lowering standards every day.

@maryjaneblues7712 see this pandering BS is part of the problem with drug and alcohol addiction, there's always someone going "they can't help themselves!" And pretty much enabling....
fr once I showed up a bit more drunk than intended (after a month at new store company employee for over 2 years) the alcohol and the walking in the extreme heat didnt treat me so well I ended up throwing up at the front counter but at least I didnt smoke crack and cause a scene, I went to work the next day still
I used to be a Personal Care Attendant and there were dementia patients who would spit, scratch, kick, etc. I’m glad she acted out before she interacted with someone that acts like her, because i doubt she would be very nice to the patients. They say mean things and can hurt you if you let them.
@@cooperhastings6327 I was also pregnant when I was working, but because I was over 18, it was my responsibility to work with the dementia patients. The other coworkers were either 16 or they did not respect the field. It was hard because they were CNA’s, so they were meant to be training with me but they didn’t pay attention. I’m nervous for their future as nurses or whatever they want. TMI, but I have ADHD so when eve I have a job I kind of hyper-fixate on doing my best, even if it burns me out. I’m working on it, but it makes it hard to interact with people who have no work ethic. I just don’t understand in being so lazy, which is what these teens were. Sitting on their phones and not reporting to patients unless I told them too, and even then, they would make it LOOK like they worked. They would just move toiletries around and only wet the tooth brush and sink to LOOK like they worked. (We eventually had to get cameras for some patients rooms bc the younger staff were not doing their job). I know that everyone has different education and maturity levels, but don’t sign onto a job that you know you can’t do. Especially when they walk you through everything before you even start working.
Yeah dementia is a terrifying thing. I've seen people's parents forget everything to the point they believed they were being kidnapped by strangers (their own family) and being forced to stay in an unknown location (their own house). Anyone would be fighting to the death to escape if they truly believed they were in that situation. This crackhead lady certainly has no business caring for the elderly. If she mistreated my family, a lawsuit would be the least of her worries. She'd find herself in the afterlife with many who thought they could treat others however they please.
I worked at a nursing home. Other than the student nurses and the evening charge nurse, this place totally sucked for the patients and a few staff who cared. One of the best in Boston.
@@drsuessl yeah i worked at a nursing home in the south shore briefly. They are all kinda the same. A lot of drug and alcohol issues with staffing, it's not uncommon.
@@KlaustheVikingYeah. I'd want to live as long as possible in a world where all educators, medical professionals, and politicians are people like that.
This is the pinnacle of professional police work. No unnecessary yelling or swearing. No unnecessary force. Just compassionate caring officers trying to make sure a citizen gets the help they need.
You're the pinnacle of clueless. There wasn't yelling, swearing, force, and etc because it wasn't necessary. People like you see these videos and then proceed to say "tHiS iS a GoOd cOp" and you probably feel a nice warm fuzzy feeling too afterwards. You may not think my attack on your nonsense is warranted, but I can assure you it is. Because I bet if these SAME cops were put into an impossible situation with some man child who then ended up unalive due to his own fault, you'd be screeching that these were bad cops. The lesson here is that you have no grounds to stand on to judge cops regardless of the outcome, unless you were there and have worked in impossible situations for years.
Overdosing on vanilla extract but says she smoked crack on her first day at work!? Wtf? She really didn't want to work and no one told her she could just, not go 😂.
I'm guessing it's one of those situations where if she doesn't show she's trying to work she'll lose her social services benefits. This will probably get her another hassle-free 6 months of housing, food stamps (EBT), etc. If she agrees to any kind of treatment, even a few classes a week, she'll probably get even longer. It's the only explanation that makes any sense to me. What she failed to realize is depending on what she's convicted of, she could lose her benefits permanently.
She didn’t want to be the person who stole from the office. I can tell you everyone who walked off with a stapler or high quality pen but I can’t name one person who smoked crack at work.
I think she had anxiety about her first day, realized she couldnt drink alcohol to take the edge off because people would smell it, and chugged the extract as a substitute and accidentally got wrecked. If this is the case, I feel sorry for her. No one chugs vanilla extract for fun or recreation, you chug it to chase away demons.
Well I mean… in her defense…. We all kinda have to work in order to have money so we can eat and have shelter…… So no- no one is gonna tell her she can just “not go” to work. She needs to pay someone rent. She didn’t want to, yes. But I don’t think we can say anyone should just “not go.” That’s how you become homeless.
Gotta remember this isn’t general healthcare but hospice/senior living. There is a lot of abuse, mistreatment, and mismanagement of seniors all across the country, this is just a symptom of a larger problem. There needs to be a certification or further examination of hospice/end of life caretakers, but please don’t blame this on the wider medicinal community. I can say assuredly, she would’ve been treated much differently (in a human way) if she had willingly given her care to actual healthcare workers instead of the police. Police are not the response we should be giving clearly mentally impaired individuals. This doesn’t just extend to “known” mental disorders. As alcoholism was just added the the DSM in 2016, there needs to be a specialized unit trained for dealing with the symptoms of a mental health crisis.
It's crazy how this lady for 1 1/2 years in jail, but the lady that stab her husband/boyfriend over 100 times to death after they smoked marijuana together only got about 100 hours of community service and probation. Are justice system is so fucked up. The systems consequence for crimes are so backwards it's not funny
That's what u get when I have 50 states with their own laws.. and then judges in every county that pretty much can give you whatever they want within the guidelines. In a country who do not have common law like sweden, the superior courts set the time you should serve for pretty much most situations by ruling in prior cases setting precedents. So you know pretty much what the punishment will be b4 u go into court. And we have no plea deals.. better system I think... or plea deals might b good for criminals, horrible if ur innocent and get suspected.

It is how Emergency Medical Services and Police Officers are trained to deal with calls involving mental health patients. It is extremely important to come off as warm, welcoming, inviting, slow, and nonjudging if you genuinely have any sympathy or empathy for patient and the call officers are responding to.
This happened literally up the street from me, and I hope she gets the help she needs one day. Someone who is drinking vanilla to get inebriated OBVIOUSLY has very serious substance abuse problems.
Yeah, I was in treatment with someone who emptied all of the sanitizer stations and drank them. You'd be surprised how far some will go. I'm so glad I've been sober for years now, addiction is no way to live.
At one time, my dad was staying with my sister, and while there, he wasn't allowed to drink alcohol, so he would drink bottles of mouth wash that my sister had stored in her bathroom cabinets. When she finally realized that he was doing it, he had already consumed 2 bottles. Thankfully he no longer has an addiction problem anymore, but it was such a difficult thing for him to overcome and for us to deal with.
The irony of the "you're killing me smalls" picture on the wall is the best representation of how messed up this whole situation is. I hope she gets the help she needs.
My best friend died on 9/11/01 but not because of terrorism. He drank a bottle of after shave. He had been battling alcoholism for more than 25 years. His memorial service was the saddest moment of my life.

I'm actually one of those ones who enjoy baking! In fact, I love baking more than I like cooking. But , as a former addict , i obviously knew that vanilla extract is mostly made up of alcohol , but it still never occurred to me to drink it , even in times , that I needed something , the most! 😂🤦♀ This woman is obviously struggling with addiction, and I pray that she, too, will be able to conquer her demons as well. Seeing her in such a horrible state was just another reminder to myself as to what I fight for every single , day , and why I refuse to go back to the lifestyle that I once lived! Today, I am approximately one week shy of 5 years in my recovery and 3 solid years in my sobriety and I owe all my gratitude and appreciation to not only my family but my Savior , most of all , because , without them , God only knows where I would be! ❤
I used to work as a therapist in a rehab facility for moms. The children were able to stay there too, so we had extremely strict rules. We had to protect the patients' sobriety as well as the children. The patients who were struggling with their sobriety would do things like buy hand sanitizer, vanilla, cough syrup, mouthwash, canned air... All sorts of stuff to get a buzz without getting caught (except we knew all the things so, they still got caught.) Watching this was like watching one of those patients. Most of them worked as housekeepers at hotels, and most would try to use substances while at work. I feel bad for her and I hope she's able to turn things around. It's not too late.
When I was in rehab for fentanyl and heroin addiction, we would get a chance to go outside to the stores or anything with a buddy like to buy cigarettes or whatnot, we had a smoke shop across from the rehab and I would buy some kratom, which is legal but does give you a buzz lol never got caught and they were strict also everytime we left we would get drug tested and a breathalyzer. It’s been 4 years since I’ve been in rehab I have a great job about to get married, have a home and everything and I still consume kratom lol it truly changed my life for the reason that i still wanted to get high on heroin.
Jeez, 0.39 BAC is absolutely insane. The average in a study of 175 fatal cases of alcohol intoxication was 0.355. She must have had a insane amount of tolerance to be able to hold a conversation at that point.
The fact that videos like these are uploaded daily, it’s a check for us to always remember to be on good behavior. Weird how our worst moments can live on forever digitally.

You would be surprised when i tell you that i worked in a company where some co workers would secretly drink hand sanitizer from the bathrooms - No joke.
Likely not the extract alone, but a combination of that, crack and whatever else may or may not have been in it. Extracts usually have around (or higher than) 180 proof alcohol in them.
Addiction turns compassionate, smart, hardworking people into hateful, dangerous, empty shells every day. I sure hope this woman has the strength to turn herself around. And when that happens, I hope she apologizes to these beautiful officers. I’m rooting for you, girlfriend!
Nursing homes and other assisted living facilities are _desperate_ for job applicants. Not gonna go into too much detail (hi, I work at an AFH), but people who've been working the field for years are leaving for multiple reasons (residents who can't be dealt with, poorly-run facilities, workplace drama that makes Walmart recoil in shock, etc.). And people who are aware of how bad the field is nowadays are refusing to apply for these jobs, which is why bad workers who should've never been hired in the first place or who should've been fired years ago are able to get hired and keep their jobs.
No more mental facilities for the poor or middle class. There was once, but they got what they needed from the masses. Now, it is strictly for the Rich.
My first thoughts when they mentioned Pure vanilla extract is that it has a high alcohol content, its easily concealable to shoplift, and you can buy it without ID in most places.

I used to be a Personal Care Attendant and there were dementia patients who would spit, scratch, kick, etc. I’m glad she acted out before she interacted with someone that acts like her, because i doubt she would be very nice to the patients. They say mean things and can hurt you if you let them.

I’m nervous for their future as nurses or whatever they want. TMI, but I have ADHD so when eve I have a job I kind of hyper-fixate on doing my best, even if it burns me out.

Police are not the response we should be giving clearly mentally impaired individuals. This doesn’t just extend to “known” mental disorders.

@@carlosamaro3897 congratulations on the job and the upcoming wedding! Sobriety is hard (even with Kratom 😉) I wish you the best going forward!
I hope they were using the hand sanitizer as an inhalant. I can’t imagine awful it is trying to drink that stuff. 🤮🤮🤮
The worse that I saw was 2 men who broke into a funeral home and stole embalming fluid. they were found unconscious , but survived.

Jeez, 0.39 BAC is absolutely insane. The average in a study of 175 fatal cases of alcohol intoxication was 0.355. She must have had a insane amount of tolerance to be able to hold a conversation at that point.
Yep-- this is severe alcoholism right here
my mom had 0.4 and was jumping fences. the whole story is insane bruh
Yeah you don't get to the point of chugging vanilla extract if you're a social drinker
It's .039
They done messed it up in the graphics
@Beantastrophe the narrator goofed according to the pinned comment, it was actually 0.39
This is a very good way to make a good impression on your new employer! Can you imagine how she would treat those patients? Despicable!
Thumbs up to all of those who tried to help her.
thumbs down to all those on the interviewing committee. 😂
There is truth to that but people with mental health issues and addictions are genuinely experts at hiding their true selves and habits.@@kimward5746
The fact that videos like these are uploaded daily, it’s a check for us to always remember to be on good behavior. Weird how our worst moments can live on forever digitally.
It is humiliating.
I really appreciate the officers patience and caring in the face of the difficulties. Having compassion and patience is a green flag. ❤
🫡 good stuff
Drunk on vanilla extract? "You're killin' me, Smalls!"
Hahahaha hahahaha!! Sandlot!
Well done, officers and EMT’s. Professionalism and compassion in the face of utter disrespect.
As a recovering addict with 5 years sober, I truly feel bad for anyone struggling with issues in life. There is always a way out if you want it bad enough
“IF YOU WANT IT BAD ENOUGH” that is the key line here. Most do not want it enough….
I've been clean from vanilla for 3 days now. Stay strong brother.
Not if there’s a video of you having a breakdown on the internet lmao
@@DrummerJacob stray strong man, i turned over to pure cocoa extract, been a rough few days.
Boo hoo
what a pleasant woman, I'm sure she would've been such a quality employee there
😂
About that 😬
dumb comment
I think she still has a job waiting for her in a year and a half or so.....😂
It's just a first day hiccup - I'm sure she will turn out to be a productive employee!
She should have gotten 3 years in psych ward.
What a great person to have working there! Their hiring team deserves 5 stars.
I recommend NINJA STARS as form of application.
Nursing home jobs are easy to get.
Not a genius, but I'd say this females employment is fubar'd
i work in talent acquisition and tbf, a lot of candidates act completely normal during the interview process and pass drug tests either by quitting or smuggling someones urine into the testing site, and once they are hired they do a 180. so on behalf of the hiring team, this was most likely not their fault

Of all the ways to get drunk, it would never occur to me to drink pure vanilla extract, even though it’s 35% alcohol. I’ll bet she smelled good. 😉
Right? Best smell evah
You would be surprised when i tell you that i worked in a company where some co workers would secretly drink hand sanitizer from the bathrooms - No joke.
My mother had a co worker that drank Listerine mixed with orange soda at work.
I'm sure every time she burped, you'd think a stripper walked in.
That's why she spat on everyone, she just wanted to share the vanilla :)
Cop: hi😊, what is your name?
Girl: wwauauauayyyyuuuuHHHHH, arbeheugughhhh, Wahhh😭
Cop: 😮 what is your name?
I like vanilla as much as the next person, but I had no idea you could OD on it.
35% alcohol. Wow!
It's 35% alcohol
Likely not the extract alone, but a combination of that, crack and whatever else may or may not have been in it. Extracts usually have around (or higher than) 180 proof alcohol in them.
@@whatbroicanhave50character35 180 proof is ~90% alcohol. Jack Daniels isn't 180 proof
yeah my Wife makes it with vodka.
Addiction turns compassionate, smart, hardworking people into hateful, dangerous, empty shells every day. I sure hope this woman has the strength to turn herself around. And when that happens, I hope she apologizes to these beautiful officers. I’m rooting for you, girlfriend!
Agree with you! What you see when under the influence is the evil that lurks beneath all of us!!😮
I really like this comment, gives you a view from another perspective. Thanks.
her life is done lol
No, her life is not done. 1.5 years in jail and 2 years probation? That’s not that bad, don’t be so dramatic.
If she wants to turn it around, she can.
Imagine her "Caring" for your relatives!? Wow
Unfortunately I knew someone like this. And unfortunately she lost her battle with addiction. 😢
Wisconsin literally has the kindest officers. Bravo everyone 💙 vanilla extract?!
And the kindest citizens. Rittenhouse ftw!
Wisconsin is becoming a cesspit of criminality.
@@Metalhead-4lifeit was literally proven that rittenhouse acted in self defense.
Doesn’t need jail, needs mental help
I agree, yet she gets to stay in jail. I'm glad I don't live in Wisconsin.
& jail.
Actually she needs both.
No more mental facilities for the poor or middle class. There was once, but they got what they needed from the masses. Now, it is strictly for the Rich.
Don't need a comma; need a semicolon.
My first thoughts when they mentioned Pure vanilla extract is that it has a high alcohol content, its easily concealable to shoplift, and you can buy it without ID in most places.
@@BasedPatriot-USA because that doesn't get you drunk.
I had no clue but now it kinda makes sense when my niece was in the looney bin she couldn’t have mouthwash, hand sanitizer, lotion or shampoo that had alcohol in it. A whole list of things she wasn’t allowed to have
Yes it do
@@maryjane4432i remember 10+ years ago working in really poor communities in Kentucky and wondering why pharmacies and dollar stores had security lock boxes on things like mouthwash and hand sanitizer. Its because i was in a dry county and those things were the only alcohol near alcoholics without vehicles.
Quite a culture shock for me at first😂
So is hand sanitizer. It’s not the products’ fault. It takes an extreme alcoholic to get drunk like that.
Her life was finally getting better because she found a job... She couldn't allow THAT to happen.
The zoom in’s on that EMT’s face killed me 😆
Exactly why i chose to care for my grandfather instead of putting him in a nursing home. My great grandmother had a stroke and could no longer speak or walk and was in a nursing home. We found out after she passed away that she had been dropped at some point by a nurse and had an untreated broken hip and shoulder. She couldn't tell anyone about it from the stroke. My papa has started to develop dementia and it is heart wrenching and mentally exhausting, but i would not have it any other way after the love and care he gave us his whole life ❤
God bless you and your family.
My Moms parents while they were able to Renovated there home and converted the Workshop and basement into a Suite so a Nurse can stay there when they need one.
@@thegreatcanadianlumberjack5307 once his dementia progresses to a point where my care isn't enough we will be bringing in a nurse to help. He is still lucid 75% of the time so it's manageable
My husband’s grandfather was just diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and dementia and he was forcibly put into a home about a month ago after he was deemed unfit to live alone. His wife is refusing to let him come home, but won’t let him move in with my father in law (his son) and it’s breaking our hearts. His stepdaughter is already talking about “her inheritance that they’re spending”, and talking about what she’ll get when they die. I am so worried about him, especially because he’s across the country from us. Your grandfather is lucky to have someone who loves and cares for him.
@@Qwertylol I am so sorry to hear that 😢 it's heartbreaking that family could treat eachother like that. We don't have a big family but the few of us are very close and my grandfather was more of a father figure to me than my actual dad.
And to think she was possibly just a couple days away from being in charge of vulnerable peoples lives, people who most likely wouldn’t be able to fully advocate for themselves. Gives me chills
Very, very scary to think she was around people that couldn't defend themselves.
Thankfully she took the extract on her orientation day instead of a later date.
Police come to help and get called names, spit on, attacked etc. LEO's are getting shot just having lunch. Yet, they would still turn around and attempt to save the life of someone who shot them and meant them harm. You can't tell me most LEO's aren't very good people who genuinely just want to help.
The look on that paramedic's face when she spat at the officer was priceless😂😂😂😂😂
Drinking vanilla extract is a hardcore alcoholic move. I had a co-worker at a homemade ice cream shop I worked at who ended up in the hospital from drinking the vanilla extract. We had it in gallon bottles, I don't remember how much he drank but it was a ton. Almost died
She always pretends to be pregnant
These are the people taking care of our seniors!! What a shame!
After all of the senior abuse, I hope this video will spread for a perfect example of hiring.
Jeez it’s like she’s possessed or something, I have no respect for drug addicts, they chose that lifestyle it’s a super selfish behavior affecting other people.
