whether it's the demonic abominations of kazdel, the eldritch horrors of the seaborn, the anomalous collapsals of the icefields or the originium catastrophes of everywhere else, arknights is filled to the brim with horrors beyond human understanding and things that could probably end all of civilisation. it's truly incredible.
The Seaborn are a great piece of cosmic horror primarily because they aren't hostile. You mentioned this before, but they aren't motivated by anything further than their own survival & they will only fight so long as that survival is threatened & they cannot reason with their opposition. I think that's something a lot of writers of cosmic horror get too focused on is that the entity has to be some kind of threat. There will be some form of villain that wants to harm you rather than something that is actively unaware it's even causing pain & its changes are discomfort. The Seaborn are great interpretations of that kind of passive horror that I feel works with cosmic horror. Even with this baseline what really makes the cosmic horror of AK work is that it's not something that's constantly considered by the world. There's a few large scale apocalypse level events that could happen that simply wipe all sapient life off the face of Terra, but that's not something that's always considered. We have events where people aren't just working directly against these extinction events like the demons, the false sky, the seaborn, or the Leviathans. They're in both the foreground & background wherewe have mentions to them like in Lonetrail with Friston, Hortus De Escapismo featuring The Church of the Deep as an answer to the catastrophes, Originium, and famine rather than just as an enemy, and IS4 finally giving us insight as to what demons the Wendigos & Emperor's Blades were made to fight. While they are in the periphery there's more to the world that keeps it human & reminds us how normal the people that will be impacted by this are. There's a lot of normalcy in terms of what characters we see even with the outlandish scenarios & their problems can be mundane. Even in Lonetrail half the stories within are dedicated to talking more about the faults of the scientific community's ties with the military industrial complex rather than the cosmic horror. The world is wide enough that it doesn't feel like you're buying into a horror game/property, you're walking into a world where these are a part of nature and it ranges from beautiful to gruesome to horrifying.
The lore on collapsals is pretty wicked, too. Seriously spooky stuff. And chances are we're going to see a lot more of either them, or something associated with them in the future.
I absolutely love the flavour text used for the Mystic Sea background on the menu: 'Those who have never been to the edge of the land do not know the sea, much less its vastness.' So simple yet so foreboding.
there is 4 god seaborn in AK, Caerula Arbor, Isharmla, Primodial lifespring and nevermelting iceberg. and for Primodial lifespring is like the ocean itself you can't kill it unless you drain all Ocean in Terra, and for nevermelting Iceberg we still lack of information about it.
A bit late to this video but always welcome to more Arknights Stuff! The idea of a force so powerful that it overwhelms most of the entire world with minimal effort is always an interesting concept to follow, and I enjoyed the different perspectives and stuff they write up through IS3. Genuinely awesome stuff. The stuff with the Collapsals being just as if not more interesting, especially since it reminds me of SCP and a lot of the reality breaking and cognito hazards and such, always a fun read. Also in case anyone hasn't seen it I recommend the story board of "If you raise me up" by Ziyan Zhang on TH-cam, genuinely an incredible depiction of the Seaborn stuff and IS3 that kept my eyes glued to the screen. I also look forward to more arknights vids! Do need to catch up on reading though as I'm quite behind lol.
it's kinda ironic that a planetary terraform technology that was supposed to lay down the foundations to support life ends up actively eating everything like a locust swarm and converting other lifeforms into itself like a zombie plague
A documentary dedicated to the Arknights lore? What a time to be alive, wow. I'll be looking forward to that video or series of videos. Love your content style, man, you deserve more recognition imo.
I'd strongly reconmend the fan animation called '[Arknights If] You raise me up' on youtube. It's by one madlad in China. It's a really fantastic animation about the Ending 2 of IS2.
To be fair to Andreana, according to her files, she is likely an attempt at making an Abyssal Hunter by Iberia or the Church of the Deep. Kal'stit said that comparing Andreana to an Abyssal Hunter is like a drop of ink in a swimming pool compared to Abyssal Hunters who are an entire ink well. (I don't remember the exact quote)
it kinda funny when you said Andreana like to hang out with the hunter ladies when her file keep hammering the point she is purposely avoiding from interacting with them.
When i first playing the game, met so many powerful military division like Emperor's Blade, Shadow Guard, etc, i wonder why tf so many countries has so many "overkill" armies like that. After i play Stultifera Navis and Expeditioner's Joklumarkar, now i know that "overkill" is not enough.
As someone who loved Starcraft long before discovering Arknights, I still find it amusing that the seaborn really are basically just the zerg, with all the terrifying potential that implies.
Ahh Seaborn. Their lore is just fascinating to me and I maintain that Under Tides is one of their best story events. The mystery and horror just intrigued me.
Doctor should heed the last roar of The Last Knight, then lead all of his political, pharmaeutical and logistical trickery to kill the ocean already Especially since it's hinted that his nature alongside Priestess were beyond of Terra and its infestations
I've always loved the Seaborn's name for themselves. "We Many" is such a good name. It's very alien in it's phrasing and usage, but just human enough to get the point across.
Funny though perception of seaborn after is3 ed 3 and newest event differ It become more of scary yet beautifull The one who occupies the horror now is collapsal and later observer Collapsal we know a bit it cognitive hazard that also able to conceptualy warp everythings including number Meanwhile observer is still unknown but the fact that doctor Civilization destroyed by it should tell you everythings about observer(seaborn created by doctor and their team as one of the plan again observer) Edit:oh i forgot in path of life terra historicus post there is actually hipotesis by aegir scientist about destruction of the previous Civilization there is 2 1.they conceptually negated by the will of universe itself 2.there is higher being bigger than the universe conceptually negate them
Do not usually leave comments but just had to say I really appreciate your content. Not often I see content creators discuss the actual world of Arknights in this manner. Keep up the good work.
What's also insane is that the Seaborns still remain as one of the hardest enemies to deal with even in today's standards gameplay wise if you don't have the necessary knowledge to counter them. The Seaborns are capable of ending the world of Terra if they truly wanted to.
Hey can you talk about playable and unplayable arts(powers/abilities) since no one ever mention them at all. The more we wait the bigger the story becomes.
'The seaborn are the greatest threat to Tera' confused demon shrieking out of their own dimension 'heah' There are also hints that Doctors race actually escaped to Terra and sealed it from the cosmos, because there was something more scary going on outside. How scary can that be that you FLEE to TERRA. (No, I don't read the CN lore, so keep your spoilers to yourself.)
With this in mind, im guessing the final chapter of arknights is the last stand against the seaborn. We had the reunion arc, the victorian arc, and if arknights' live service is about to end, we will have a dedicated seaborn arc. It's possible this is the last chapters of arknights, because i cant imagine a conflict far greater than od the seaborn. Maybe the sami and it's shenanigans up north. Now that i think about it, talos 2 of endfield is a different planet from terra if i remember it right. Is it because terra was engulfed by the seaborn, forcing its residents to migrate to talos 2, with a new problem called the blight? Im excited as to what the writers will cook for future arknights stories, and how will they solve the problem of the inevitability to introduce bigger conflict than the previous one to continue the rising of stakes. Oh also, *how about you join us, the skadi's cult?*
I'm 4years into this game. And im just not a reader at all so I rarely read anything at all, I mostly watch summary videos but even then I know I'm missing a lot. That's why I really need more videos like this.
I imagine that in the end people in Terra either flee from their planet or an elite force from a different universe gets isekai'd into Terra and fight along with them against the Seaborn. I'm open to this discussion and I favor the UNGOC from the SCP universe. (They themselves can not defeat the cosmic horror of their own universe as shown in SCP-5000, but they are the Apex military force to combat paranormal, anomalies threats and god-like beings as far as I know from fictional universes.
Crazy to think about yhe other as well, the calapsuls are another one (tho they are new to the lore of Arknights, to use players) and that they have been around way before you (the doctor) and other ancients, and before Oripathy and Kal'tsit as well. And what makes them even scary-er is that the "god loke" aegir does not know of them and they are more powerfull and unknown than the Seaborn/Firstborne
th-cam.com/video/zMPSQu8FSpQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=rx3vwwadDYGteJEJ here is a fanmade vid even tho this is not cannon to the story it did a great job to potray the horor of seaborn
Yeah but we do have 2 seaborn lords on our side: skadi and mizuki. So knowing the doctor of this timeline is freaky af, he won't let shit happens to his lovely wives/husbands 😂
I want to argue about the Seaborn being the biggest threat, they might be the most unmanageable threat but at the end of it all it is only Originium that will remain.
Lol, read next IS about EVEN MORE cosmic horror from Sami lands, about Collapsals. There is not one threat in fun world of Terra. Warhammer 40k already lost his place on the top of cosmic horrors pick.
Yep, with all the talk about the Patriot, he is that stupid strong lore-wise because northern Terra is in constant slow warfare with collapsals. Ursus is literally one great catastrophe away from Iberia’s fate. And there’s also a black hole somewhere near - that’s where horror truly becomes cosmic.

Haedal has uploaded another AK video, today is a good day
i heartily recommend any seaborn enjoyers to check out an animatic called "You raise me up" by Ziyin Zhang
I absolutely love the flavour text used for the Mystic Sea background on the menu:
'Those who have never been to the edge of the land do not know the sea, much less its vastness.'
So simple yet so foreboding.
there is 4 god seaborn in AK, Caerula Arbor, Isharmla, Primodial lifespring and nevermelting iceberg. and for Primodial lifespring is like the ocean itself you can't kill it unless you drain all Ocean in Terra, and for nevermelting Iceberg we still lack of information about it.
omg an arknights lore commentary and analysis video??? niceeee
I've been saying this game lends itself well to some homebrew DND considering the amount of lore and how fleshed out every faction is
Yes, please make an entire documentary of Arknights lore, it will be amazing.
Honestly would welcome a video on the lore of arknights
11:40 unrelated - if skadi excels against large amounts of enemies, why is she a dreadnought..?
I... That's... Hm...

I love this kind of video! Please do more of this for arknight, this game's world is so fascinating to learn about.
If you think frozen zombie apocalypse from sami is bad... wait for the undersea zombie alien invasion...
Bro please do more of these documentaries about arknights. This was really really good and more videos like this should exist imo
What i love about arknight story is how grounded and personal the story is
it's kinda ironic that a planetary terraform technology that was supposed to lay down the foundations to support life ends up actively eating everything like a locust swarm and converting other lifeforms into itself like a zombie plague
Your story telling skill is something bro. Love it
To be fair to Andreana, according to her files, she is likely an attempt at making an Abyssal Hunter by Iberia or the Church of the Deep. Kal'stit said that comparing Andreana to an Abyssal Hunter is like a drop of ink in a swimming pool compared to Abyssal Hunters who are an entire ink well. (I don't remember the exact quote)
MY MAN COOKED!! 🔥🔥🔥
I WILL LET YOU HARVEST MY SOUL IF YOU MAKE AN ENTIRE DOCUMENTARY ON ARKNIGHTS LORE ❤
Someone making more Arknights lore video, I kneel
Great video, but im surprised that you didn't mention anything about the collapsals
Yeah i would like a arknights lore master
man the fight between the Collapsal and the Seaborn will be legendary
it kinda funny when you said Andreana like to hang out with the hunter ladies when her file keep hammering the point she is purposely avoiding from interacting with them.
Nice video tho. I'm very interested to see more.
Finally, new haedal vid (know you from the AC6 vid)
Mate, I would just like to say - if you unironically make a documentary for Arknights, I'll be able to die happy.
A huge lore video for all of Arknights would be *amazing* that’s an excellent idea!
As someone who loved Starcraft long before discovering Arknights, I still find it amusing that the seaborn really are basically just the zerg, with all the terrifying potential that implies.
I'm definitely hoping in that discord
Also do make a video on the lore in its entirety please
Bro this video gave me an Arknights ad and it started with:
"Furry, Furry, FURRY, Furry"
Get the chance to snag Mountain, a six star fluffy general.
average yostar ad
Ahh Seaborn. Their lore is just fascinating to me and I maintain that Under Tides is one of their best story events. The mystery and horror just intrigued me.
great lore telling! always loved skadi and her alter counterpart lore, insane story unlike how the made chen's alter. instasubbed!
Doctor should heed the last roar of The Last Knight, then lead all of his political, pharmaeutical and logistical trickery to kill the ocean already
Especially since it's hinted that his nature alongside Priestess were beyond of Terra and its infestations
I've always loved the Seaborn's name for themselves. "We Many" is such a good name. It's very alien in it's phrasing and usage, but just human enough to get the point across.
Funny though perception of seaborn after is3 ed 3 and newest event differ
It become more of scary yet beautifull
The one who occupies the horror now is collapsal and later observer
Collapsal we know a bit it cognitive hazard that also able to conceptualy warp everythings including number
Meanwhile observer is still unknown but the fact that doctor Civilization destroyed by it should tell you everythings about observer(seaborn created by doctor and their team as one of the plan again observer)
Edit:oh i forgot in path of life terra historicus post there is actually hipotesis by aegir scientist about destruction of the previous Civilization there is 2
1.they conceptually negated by the will of universe itself
2.there is higher being bigger than the universe conceptually negate them
Do not usually leave comments but just had to say I really appreciate your content. Not often I see content creators discuss the actual world of Arknights in this manner. Keep up the good work.
awesome video ! I swear if future you makes a documentary about the arknights lore I'll be the first one down for it. cheers !
Oh def joining the discord server lol, Also how's astlibra?
thanks for the video! I love the discussion of Arknights lore. cuz thats what I love the most in the game. looking forward for other lore discussions
'The seaborn are the greatest threat to Tera'
confused demon shrieking out of their own dimension 'heah'
There are also hints that Doctors race actually escaped to Terra and sealed it from the cosmos, because there was something more scary going on outside.
Enjoyed the great vid!
Their creators should have some failsafe.weapon, virus or creature than can sever, destroy hivemind.something Like Nulls,Ysalamiri or Dark templars .
God i want to see that documentary
The Seaborn being Eldritch Flood from Halo is terrifying enough 😮
love this, good job
I usually tell people, if you're playing arknights and skipping all the stories, you're missing like 70% of the game.
I'm 4years into this game. And im just not a reader at all so I rarely read anything at all, I mostly watch summary videos but even then I know I'm missing a lot. That's why I really need more videos like this.
I would love some Vaati Vidya style video
Nice
Seaborn is the gig now i like their mode of operation, work as one then burn the world and make it as nutrition.
Amazing video bro
And what makes them even scary-er is that the "god loke" aegir does not know of them and they are more powerfull and unknown than the Seaborn/Firstborne
damn the design of the enemy's are way cooler then the playable characters
Glad to see a tad bit of lovecratian, but not to the point of rearranging the dynamics of everything due to sheer powercreep in lore
Good summary.
Wasn’t expecting to see a gotcha game after searching for cosmos horror. Lore wise remind of bloodborne
th-cam.com/video/zMPSQu8FSpQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=rx3vwwadDYGteJEJ
here is a fanmade vid even tho this is not cannon to the story it did a great job to potray the horor of seaborn
Yeah but we do have 2 seaborn lords on our side: skadi and mizuki. So knowing the doctor of this timeline is freaky af, he won't let shit happens to his lovely wives/husbands 😂
Great video
Up until this point, i assumed Arknights was a third person action game, since i've never seen gameplay of it.
I hecking love hive mindes
I am not in fact an og I just liked the video. I will however become a regular from this video forward.
I want to argue about the Seaborn being the biggest threat, they might be the most unmanageable threat but at the end of it all it is only Originium that will remain.
The Hivemind claims this video as one Of We Many
Nice video
Bloodborne cosmic horror from the southern sea.
Chaos from the North :P
The flood.
Rememver if they can invade land we can invide them
If they can control us we can also control them
Let's become one with the sea born😅
no collapsal mention sadge
they deserve a dedicated vid honestly
fr
I really would like the anime of seaborne and lonetrails
Honkai Impact 3rd next ?
Lol, read next IS about EVEN MORE cosmic horror from Sami lands, about Collapsals. There is not one threat in fun world of Terra.
Warhammer 40k already lost his place on the top of cosmic horrors pick.
Yep, with all the talk about the Patriot, he is that stupid strong lore-wise because northern Terra is in constant slow warfare with collapsals. Ursus is literally one great catastrophe away from Iberia’s fate.
And there’s also a black hole somewhere near - that’s where horror truly becomes cosmic.
And then there's the memetic entities in the north of terra the sami infy icefields. Terra is fucked
Hope i'll be able to hop in the server
2:43 what pv is this with the seaborns I didnt get to watch it :))
And remember! who created that thing. 😶
I love seaborns.
