  • South Carolina State's Ty Solomon collapsed on the bench in the first half of the Bulldogs game against NC State Saturday afternoon. Medical staff at the arena quickly sprang into action and worked on Solomon on the bench for several minutes before taking him out on a stretcher. Both teams were visibly shaken during the scary situation in Raleigh, but the game resumed after Solomon was declared conscious and stable and SC State players voted to restart the game.

Most ppl don't report feeling, dizzy or sob for short moments bc it is such a non-event to them. When CPR is being administered, it's as bad as it gets. You are NOT breathing if CPR is needed. Every second you are not breathing is detrimental to your brain, because it's not getting oxygen if you aren't breathing, this causing brain damage the longer you go without oxygen. God bless our EMT's. They truly are angels when it counts the MOST!!

      @canadianeh1977 6 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      TannerLewis generally if you’re doing CPR on someone it’s because there is no pulse. There’s times where there may be a faint pulse. But it was reported he had a cardiac arrest. Although you don’t see it, they likely shocked him with an AED to bring him back around. You don’t see them clear the floor like in the movies. And it’s far more likely to bring them back than CPR.

      Brian P. This comment is so stupid, I honestly don’t know what to say. I guess I will start with the fact that nobody said they made a movie ABOUT CPR. I said defibrillators don’t lift people off the bed like in movies. But that said. I did see a movie about CPR made by the heart and stroke foundation. It was boring. But mandatory viewing for my job.

    i personally believe that the power of prayer by soo many people in that arena by reaching out to god for help, also helped save this young mans life.

      I can almost guarantee that if the EMS weren’t there he would have died. Science, not prayer saved his life. How dare you downplay the work that those medical professionals do. THEY are the heroes that should be thanked.

      Braden Fink Science didn't save that man. Capitalism did. Its funny how any technique or interpolation gets you 1 for the science board. Like shut up. The dude survived quit being such a keyboard warrior.

    Great job. This look like it will be a good outcome. Very early CPR and the use of the AED will give someone a good chance of survival in cardiac arrest! If you have never learn this skill I would recommend that you take a course, because someday you May help save someone's life ..

      I was watching this game. If I remember correctly the game had just started and the young man in question had not entered the game yet. He went into cardiac arrest as a result of a pre-existing heart condition.

    When I was in high school, I ran home to catch Hank Gathers play because I loved LMU’s style. I watched him collapse and didn’t get up. I wrote a letter to the athletic department of LMU expressing my condolences, I was shocked to receive a reply letter days later from the coach. Very sad, such a nice guy and ball player. 😒

    Prayers up!! I was diagnosed with a rare form of ( HCM)hypertrophic cardiomyopathy at 21, I am 1 of 3 in the world with specific mutations , I found my case playing basketball with the bros, was running up the court, suddenly felt a rush of dizzy and nauseousness , i kept going , thinking " ah maybe I need to eat or drink water." Blah blah blah Almost instantly after that I got very lightheaded and my skin felt cold *charlotte nc summer 89 degrees outside wind blowing felt great* but I was shivering my lips now blue , then my vision became what I remeber as a dark tunnel , I then dropped and everything went dark..... I have small memories of my friend tyree smacking my face trying to keep me awake. I never felt that odd sensation before ,man imagine waking up in the hospital with IV and on a heart monitor hearing on the intercom nurses calling out hospice codes in a dark room ALONE at 21 I was young and confused, only noise was that beep beep beep the monitor made, I was so depressed I sat in the hospital for 4 weeks and dropped 60 pounds , starting at 220 6"0 athletic build I was depressed af, but God and determination got me thru , I knew alot of people and had what i thought was friends alot never visited or checked on me and if they did it was hey and bye funny thing for some of those people that was the last time they spoke to me, i found out quickly what a true friend , Tyree came and stayed with me I respect him to this day dec 2020; the feelings haunted me for a while tho I had to pull myself out of that dark place, in which i try to keep in my past, I'm tearing up writing this smh brings back so many memories of course big pharma tried throwing me on EVERY beta blocker or calcium channel blockers they had like a lab rat MANY SIDE EFFECTS still felt today at 28 years old smh I feel for anyone suffering from a heart or any disease i love yall man be strong and keep it pumping!!..

      Wow... I have the same heart condition young brotha. I was diagnosed with it n early February of this yr(2020) it all started for me the pervious summer after having those same symptoms episodes while at work. I remember when I was young and was diagnosed with a irregular heart beat (heart murmur) at around 12 and was told back then that it will close up once I get older but apparently it never happened. I continued to play sports in school and in college having to rest a little longer than others. I can really can relate to the scary part of this disease being diagnosed with it at 52 just a month before my 53rd bday and I'm still coming to terms with it now with all that's going on with COVID, dealing with the shortness of breath wondering if I will have another episode. My doctor recommended a icd device implanted in my chest which I had done back in May, but my life has drastically changed now not sure if I be able to attend sporting events because I can only walk a short distance now without having to deal with breathing. They do know it's inherited so if you have any children make sure they get chked. I also live in Charlotte man

      Cardiomyopathy is so scary when you're young because a lot of us don't know we have it until the worst happens. I was diagnosed with a rare form of cardiomyopathy called Left Ventricular Noncompaction Cardiomypathy at 32, and I'm still shocked. No symptoms and I feel great; yet, I'm technically in heart failure. My older sister died of dilated cardiomyopathy when she was 23 twenty years ago, but we weren't told it was genetic. Now, my older sister (age 43 and the fraternal twin of my deceased sister) has also been diagnosed with heart failure (4 months after I was), although we don't know yet what form of cardiomyopathy she has. None of us had any symptoms.
      Unfortunately, the meds are the only thing that might bring my sister and I out of heart failure and keep us from needing a heart transplant for as long as possible.
