My sister in Newport, RI mailed me an ornament made there for Christmas, and the rush and woosh of the salty brine air when I opened her gift was like a letter from home! Nearly made me cry it was so powerful! And that was a tiny jewel box! @@DianeAntoneStudio
Things I have thought too difficult or beyond my skill level, you make fun and incredibly accessible! I enjoy your classes so much and because of that I am painting more, my confidence is increasing and it's even helped my state of mind as the classes bring me comfort. Such a wonderful experience painting with you. Thanks so much!
What a lovely choice of subject...I have been painting birds and Christmasy things. I sketched it and will try tomorrow. Thank you for sharing your pleasant , informative style!,,,,,🎉
My 207.th a very convincing lighthouse in a winter scene beautiful done. Thanks for keep up the effort to go on in 2024 with all your initiatives. I enjoy every bit of it 😊wim
Love to watch you paint landscapes! You really are such a great artist and although my attempt will never approximate yours, I love to watch you paint and learn the decisions that you make along the way.
Love the video today, Diane. Indigo is one of my favourite colours, and I don’t use it enough. I find it quite intimidating in watercolour painting, but it’s perfect for this subject of light and darkness. I will definitely give it a try soon. Thank you!
Fantastic!!! Oh how I love this painting! The lighting is perfect and the rocks are perfect! The red adds just the right highlight to the painting and I love the mood of the painting. Of course I have a special love of lighthouses because my dear uncle who passed a few years ago collected and loved them and the symbol of them. Thank you so much Diane! "Bob's Your Uncle" is right! :)
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your input and I’m so glad you enjoyed this one. It’s a little different from what I normally do, and I’m very pleased to be branching out a bit!
That's Great, Diane - I'm going to do this one cos it'll make a fab birthday card for my Dad! Last year i painted him a desert island with a UFO and the year before i did a ship at sea. I got in a bit of a muddle with the rigging - which i mentioned to him and Dad thought was hilarious having been in the Royal Navy and knowing about that stuff!! Anyway, Thank you so much for another brilliant tutorial. Happy New Year to you n family! Love, Mel xx 🍰🌻
I've been wanting to try something other than flowers, birds and Christmas. This is perfect! I love, love, love how yours turned out and I am going to give it a go later this evening. Thank you, and Happy New Year to you and Tamsin!
This is beautiful. At one time we lived on the eastern seaboard of the US and there were light houses everywhere up and down the coast.....I loved them!! What is the 2nd daily challenge please, you said the 'cats eye'? I'm sorry but I have missed something. Thanks much for sharing
Happy New Year, Diane🎉 I'm not an artist for sure, but I always love doing birds and light houses. For some reason, those 2 subjects always come out well in painting and soft pastels. Thank you for the lead on the Japanese paint brushes. I really like Holbein. I find anything Japanese is really done well.
Well I hope you are satisfied, Diane! You have single-handedly destroyed my enjoyment of casually viewing other watercolorists! I get bored by and even annoyed at them so quickly. This never used to be true! Honestly! Are you proud of yourself? 😂 Oh, and by the way, this lighthouse is awesome! A nice break from Christmas cards and flowers although I did enjoy every one of the cards and flower paintings!
Thank you, Gemma! You had me worried for a minute! I thought I had done something wrong! So glad that you are enjoying my videos, and I take your point about other peoples. I think you’ll enjoy this lighthouse, and I’ve got some more ideas coming up soon that you might like too!!
Hehe. I hope I didn’t give you too much of a scare. You’ll never get a complaint from me! I’m old school, like you; if I don’t have something nice to say, I’d rather not say anything at all. 😂❤😊. Thanks for the many, many enjoyable experiences!
Happy New Year Diane! Your light house painting is beautiful. Thank you for showing us the light and dark techniques. Stunning! Ill look forward to giving this one a go!
Have never seen a light house altho I've lived near both coasts. Watching yours emerge on the rocks kept me engaged as does your process always. I am thinking how I can adapt this to the Rimrocks along the Yelliwstone River. which is beautifully dramatic in the evening. Definitely need to work on my palette first. I like to mix as I go, too. Will watch this session again. Thank you for motivating me.
Thanks so much Connie! I’m so glad you enjoyed this one. I have not actually in real life. Seen a Canadian lighthouse either! I have seen plenty in England and here in France. They are not quite the same but close! The rocks are always fun to do as they always turn out better than you expect! Have fun!
Very nice. I enjoy this type of teaching video. Diane what is it I hear you say sometimes ... something uncle? I can't quite catch what it is. I'm sure it's an English expression I've never heard!

The rain sounds like the waves hitting the rocks under your llighthouse ❤
Sometimes it feels like we are at Sea being lashed by the waves. Sometimes I can smell seaweed in the air! But we are 50 miles from the coast.
For a moment I even thought you were making wave music on purpose until I remembered you’re having a lot of rain! Ha!

Wonderfully moody! I love it❤
Glad you like it!
I’ve wondered about your little dishes too!
Thanks! Merry Christmas!
Thanks you so much Julie for your kindness xxx
Love this! Thanks for inspiring me with this moody piece! Lighthouses always symbolized home to me…
You don’t know how happy I am to have you as a teacher, Diane! A glowy lighthouse is right up my alley. Going to try this one later this afternoon
Your rainy day there was a perfect sound effect for waves crashing against the shore where the lighthouse stands!
Yes, it was, wasn’t it!
Thanks Diane for a beautiful painting. Very atmospheric.
Thanks very much, Liz!
Wow, just wow! How impactful! This is so realistic and colorful. Great job!!!
Thank you so much! That’s very kind of you! I’m glad you enjoyed it ❤️
That's really great Diane. Very appropriate this wet and windy week, with such high seas! Definitely in the mood to try this one this evening 😊
Wonderful! Hope you enjoy it, it was fun!
One of my favorites I must say!!! The sound of the rain is perfect background for this painting!!! Thank you as always!
Thank you so much 😀 we really could do with a bit less rain though!
I just try to go ahead and hit the "like" button.
I know I'm gonna like it.
Thanks so much Cathy, I really appreciate that! Hopefully you did!
@@DianeAntoneStudio I did!
I love lighthouses.
Thank you !!!
Just lovely Diane. I am so ready to get back to painting. This will be just the trick. A lovely challenge for me. Blessings to you dear friend

Beautiful Diane. Love love your landscapes❤️
Oh I love this painting. And am really enjoying this season of light in the darkness. Love hearing the rain, as here in Australia it’s hot.. ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Bev, could you possibly send us a bit of your sunshine? I don’t know when we’ve had a wetter winter
I am excited to try this painting. I have to admit, I’m tired of flowers.
Absolutely stunning!

Happy New Year Diane. I love this one as I live by the sea. Also loving the new design of your TH-cam intro, very nice!
This is inspiring…I think I will give it a try today!
Also I’m excited to have an email from your brush company and my order is in transit!! YEA!!
Yay! Thank you for letting me know!
So pretty, I was very inspired to paint this today. At first my sky was grey and cloudy (and puddly) then I made it into night and that fixed it. 👌

Started this during a spell of vertigo. Actually coming out pretty good. Hard to get the shape right tho. 😂

Is the Cats Eyes (?) Day 2 of Light out of Darkness on the website or just for patreon?
There isn’t a video for the cat’s eyes. I’m doing about one a week and they’re all on TH-cam 😀
