My new GE side by side was delivered today. After spending 16 years with a Samsung French Door, I will NEVER go back to one. I am loving my new refrigerator already!!
French door is my preference but a couple of other points based on mistakes I made. Never get a model with icemaker in the fridge. Get the one in the freezer. The icemaker in the door will break down often so get an extended warranty. Also I will never get another water dispenser through the door. Too much trouble. I will either use a water pitcher or do without. Blake never disappoints!
Great video! I went from side by side to french door and really prefer french door because for me I am able to get larger items ( plates and bowls) in french door. In addition, I feel more organized in french door.
Nice video… My favorite refrigerator was the one I had in my last house, it was a bottom freezer Maytag with a single door… (icemaker, was located in the freezer compartment) It was the best fridge I ever had😅 There was no dispenser to break, no ice shute that I needed to clean,… And I felt like the single door style on the refrigerator compartment was less problematic, (there was no silly flapper on the left-hand side, like French doors have ) and I feel like it had more space for storage on the door of the fridge…
It would be beneficial if you also talked about the issues of French door fridges with ice and water dispenser installed on the door. I would expect to hear about them in this video but did not.
I prefer side by side, the drawer on the bottom hurts my back. U you Lu can situate both the refrigerator s d side by side so everything you need is up high enough in
Closing on a spec home Tuesday and I need to purchase a fridge. I wanted the bottom freezer so now I am sold...that's what I'm shopping for. Great video!
For what it's worth, i have a french door bottom freezer, my mother has a side-by-side. i also have a naughty back, and the french door bottom freezer is so much easier to use than the side-by-side. 🙂
I purchased a Frigidaire gallery based on your recommendations, and I love it. It’s the 4 door bottom freezer, with a separate freezer drawer. Question, how do I get that freezer drawer to slide back so I can access the main freezer department?
Can you tell which country is make. Samsung n LG no good recall or broke down. i want made in USA/CANADA/GERMANY/JAPAN. good quality last long long time. no made in China or other. i mam in the market
Blake hello I can physically just use a side by side, I have a 14 year old Fridgedaire thst I love so I ordered the same side by side gallery but it had to go back I have 5 " from the left side to a wall but the doors grew to be much thicker and they changed the hinges making the bins so they could not open no deli fruit or vegetable bins accessable so Blake, which 36" side by side counter depth will open at 90⁰ or 110⁰ to give access to the bins no While pool or Kitchen Aid because they waste the whole freezer door on the ice maker...I still want water and ice on outside. Stumped oh how I love my old Fridgedaire that just opens because of hinge abd 2 3/4 inch doors side by side Please Help
While it’s true they are cheaper and easier to repair the fact is most people aren’t buying them these days as their main kitchen refrigerator mainly due to them looking old and outdated. French door and side by sides are the most popular option these days.

All good advice that everyone seems to agree on, thanks for sharing!
Get a counter depth if you get a French door. The deeper ones hide stuff in the back that you’ll forget

French doors can definitely be more organized, thanks for watching!
Can you recommend a side by side without an ice maker?

Thank you for your comments because I was reading that the ones with the icemaker in the freezer were the best. I'm going to be looking for that! 🙂

I'm seriously considering it. Still like it?
I will never go back to side by side. French door or single door. Trying to work with a side by side was too frustrating.
for new construction, why not raise the side-by-side fridge 6-8 inches?
is amada good i plan to buy one soon, please
Side by side for me. Never have liked the freezer on the bottom. Too much bending down and stuff getting buried.
That's definitely one of the drawbacks of french doors. Glad you have found side-by-sides work well for you. Thanks for watching!

For made-in-the-USA appliances, we'd recommend GE when it comes to fridges!
0:40 Did that woman use voodoo to open one of those doors?
Who made the kenmore fridge?
I'm from India and here french doors are available @same price or cheaper than side by side

Why do you discount top freezers when many techs state they those are easier and cheaper to repair?

2:33 Dishwasher buying guide? 😂 Thank you for the helpful info!
Oops, good catch! Today you learned that fridges can also wash dishes haha.
Go top mount with a pedestal. Freezer will be high but who cares.
Side by side rules.
No Samsung!!! TH-cam full of videos on icing problems due to defrost malfunction!!!
It's pretty obvious you're not the one cooking. For the one cooking, it's way more than 30% of the time.
You think peoples who cook goes into the freezer more than ~30% of the time?
If you cook for breakfast, lunch and dinner, then obviously you would.
Best for what? Geez, no ethics in the industry. People want to know which ice box will not fail but will remain reliable for years to come.
