"That's it baby!" As she starts singing with tears in her eyes and fuming with anger as you continue to smile and play the piano is menace activity if I've ever seen it 😂
The casting in this film was top notch. You're motivated to hate the sketchy characters who tried to take advantage of Ray, you're sympathetic to the 2 guys who got his career started when he decided to go big with ABC, and of course the women who got involved with him.
Anyone who's ever been involved with the music business gets how real this scene is. From rehearsal to the end of a show or a studio session many great artists are great, and the rest of the time they're on substances, arguing with there baby mamas, in a surly and insecure head space and treating people terribly.
I’ve replayed the part form 0:38 to 1:02 soooo many times. What a voice they both have. Goosebumps every time. This is the scene that made me watch the whole thing
99.9% sure that it was Ray Charles himself, the tip-off is the "that's it baby" he says as Regina sings her part. There were a few scenes where Jamie is singing (e.g., "I Got a Woman"), but they used Ray's voice as much as possible in the music.
She wasn’t singing it on the stage, it’s the original singer’s voice! 😅 Regina & Jaime were lip syncing the original singer’s voices (including Ray Charles voice). 🙄
Sadly he doesnt actually sing in the movie, he perfectly lip sings though which is still amazingly impressive They used old studio recordings and live performances from ray himself.
who sing all songs from this movie is ray Charles. Jamie Foxx practiced so hard and finally got a very similar voice but they decided to use Ray Charles's voice.
I have one concert regret. I had the chance to see Ray Charles in a small venue in 2003 in Northern Colorado and gave my tickets away because family came to town unexpectedly. What an amazing artist.

Regina King's "don't care" was so perfectly in tone (idk if she actually sang it or not but if she did it was amazing)
True.
Agreed.
She only sung it for real when she was wearing the robe and Jamie fox also wasn't singing on the stage scene
She wasn’t singing it on the stage, it’s the original singer’s voice! 😅 Regina & Jaime were lip syncing the original singer’s voices (including Ray Charles voice). 🙄
OP is both blind and tone deaf. It's called lip syncing, genius.
The way Margie stares daggers at him the whole time during the full band performance is so good.

That's not her, they're lip syncing to the studio version
