There is so much to see in Liverpool but the one place where you can see all Liverpool is at the top of St. John’s Beacon Tower or other name it is also called radio city Tower .It is the second tallest free standing building after west tower building apartment in Liverpool with its height 138m but still it can be treat tallest tower of the city if we add 10m antenna fixed top of the building. It was design James A Robert Associets in Birmingham . its construction started 1966 and completed 1969.
Initally it was use as 5 star revolving restaurant , the frontage and the floor of the restaurant move as one unit which diner was enjoying clear view of the whole city of Liverpool, while the roof of the restaurant was used as an observation platform for visitors. Its was an unique restaurant during that time and the point of attraction for local and international tourist during Mid nineties. There are two ways to reach top of the tower either cross 558 stairs or use two shafts lift which will tak you in 30 seconds.
This tower has been used or occupied by different businesses since it opend but from 2000 to now it has occupied by radio city 97.6fm or magic 1548. Still gallery available for panoramic view of city of Liverpool from 452ft above Houghton Street but you have to pay £7 ticket for Adult, £5 child and special student discount £1. Tower open for city view to visitor only Saturday and Sunday between 10:15 am to 5:15pm. I think this spot will good for weekend outing for family or individual .
