    I agree 100% with all your points regarding the PT-85. After seeing a lot of reviews on TH-cam last year it became my first CO2 air gun, and the start of an addiction to collect replica functioning CO2 air pistols. I have a different case which works fine and I did try the particular laser sight you had installed for this video. I returned it as I found that the laser sight adjustment screws were too loose and would not hold. I did however like everything about the laser sight because otherwise it was constructed well of all metal and I particularly liked the easy reach of the on off switch. Perhaps I got one of the few defective ones as can be the case with these lower priced units.
    Bravo on your view of the PT-85!

      Hi, I am glad that you found the review useful and I am sure that you will enjoy owning your PT-85. You are so right about the quality control issues with some of these low cost accessories. I don't like to knock the Chinese manufacturers too hard because they do at least produce products at affordable prices - it is just that you often have to finish off the manufacturing and QA yourself .
      I have a couple of laser sights that work reasonably well (search Ebay for item 254654213164). These sights are a little smaller, again all metal and reasonably bright so work OK apart from in very bright sunshine. The downside is that the silver cells are even smaller so you have to be disciplined and remember to turn off the sight while reloading. Just buy strips of cheap batteries off Ebay and keep some in your gun case.
      I have been having some fun with the Artemis CP1 and CP2 recently and can recommend them as good fun 'project' guns that can be easily tuned to improve the accuracy significantly and make them useful target pistols. I must try to get a bit of time and film reviews.
      All the best.

    Hello,and thank you for that review.
    Without doubt that is the best and completed video of GAMO PT-85.
    However,I don't understand one thing,..why in many websites they description it that can shoot bought pellets and BB's,but in the same time I can't see anyone shooting BB's with it? That really confuses me and now I'm in dilemma between GAMO PT-85 and GAMO C-15 which is surely double ammo.🤷‍♂️

    • @Incognito1-1
      @Incognito1-1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Gamo describe it as a pellet pistol. I would not recommend attempting to load BB's in this or any other pistol that has a rifled barrel - steel BB's will damage the rifling.
      - Pellets will always shoot more accurate tighter groups than BB's.
      - Pellets will achieve a higher muzzle energy than BB's.
      - BB's being hard are much more likely to ricochet whereas soft lead pellets are less likely to bounce back and strike the shooter when fired fro 10M.

      Hi, Yes, I totally agree with the points that you make. This gun is all the more remarkable when you consider the low price relative to other CO2 pistols which are often twice the price of the PT-85.
      I have been having fun recently with the CP1 and CP2 pistols that are made in China. These pistols are simple designs but that is part of their charm. They shoot accurately straight out of the box but are easily modified to make the trigger lighter/smoother and the muzzle velocity more consistent. I should make a few more reviews.

    Although the iron sights on my P25 line up perfectly at the top, the white dots do not actually line up at all, so I do struggle aiming ! and it necessitates me holding over. Apart from the lack of a picattiny rail on the P25, both guns are as near as dammit the same

    • @MartinHealy
      @MartinHealy ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Robert, It is a pity that Gamo didn't include adjustable rear sights but of course these guns are produced to a price. Your comment does highlight the benefit of choosing a pistol that has a rail of some sort to which an aiming device such as a red dot or a reflex sight can be added. But your P25 is a good fun plinking gun so I would suggest plinking at tin can sized targets and making the challenge how many of the 8 targets get knocked down and how quickly. Please always wear some safety glasses when shooting to protect your eyes in case of ricochets.
      If you do want to step up to target shooting where the challenge is to produce tight groups of pellets on paper targets then I can recommend the Chinese CP1 and CP2 pistols as low cost guns that can be tweaked to produce decent performance.
      All the best, Martin

    • @Incognito1-1
      @Incognito1-1  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, I don't buy 'branded' sights for these CO2 pistols. Most are Chinese made junk. When selecting a sight on eBay I look for the battery type, one-off switch type etc. Some of these sights use 3x ridiculously small sized silver button batteries that run down quickly. The model on this pistol has a slide switch and it became loose pretty quickly. The model that you can see on some of my other pistols has a much better latching push button one-off. However, the model has the very small batteries. But back to my original point remember that these are mass produced junk so it is probably wise to be guided by price and not be swayed too much by 'branded' products that come out of the same factory with just some added white stencilling.

      Hi Nick,
      There are lots of these Chinese laser sights available on Ebay and elsewhere. I have several different models and they all have pros and cons. I would suggest getting a small neat laser for a pistol. The thing is they are all cheap as chips and last about as long. HoHo. The one you see on this gun is I think this model available on UK Ebay - eBay item number:386899316124 (just search on this item number). I is nice and flat and unobtrusive under the barrel.
      One tip I would give you is when you get your sight and check the battery type I would advise buying a strip of the batteries and keeping them in the case - there is nothing more frustrating than setting up to shoot only to find that the batteries are exhausted.
      Second tip - don't waste your money on premium pellets. Choose a light weight pellet. See my review of H&N Excite Econ II - th-cam.com/video/669_SOr5UX0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=EXMNjhRfdTWpu38N

    • @Incognito1-1

      The first thing to check is change the cylinder for a new cylinder. When the cylinder pressure drops very low the hammer does not cock after every shot. This 'feature' is a useful reminder but you will also see the pellets dropping lower and lower on the target as the cylinder pressure falls.

      The pellets provided with the P25 pistol / case combo were H&N excite hobby 2 wadcutters. I jammed my gun solid when I loaded a pellet in skirt first (.177 pellets and big sausage fingers are a poor combination) I used a 1/8" bamboo kebab skewer to poke the pellet back into the breach whilst holding the slide open using a short stabbing motion, the pellet fell out of the gun quite easily. I now carry a few bamboo skewers under the foam lining of my pistol case just in case !!

      Hi James,
      Virtually all of these CO2 pistols are low powered 2-3 ftlb muzzle energy. The main point of these PT-85 pistols is that you get a well made, rapid firing, plinking gun for very little money. If you need a more powerful CO2 pistol then the CP1 or CP2 might be a good choice - especially if you enjoy tinkering with guns to make improvements. I own 2 CP1 single shot plus a CP2 multi-shot that I keep setup in rifle configuration.
      I would strongly advise against shooting at glass bottles. For one thing you are likely to get unpredictable ricochets and secondly nobody likes broken glass because it is a danger to wildlife and anyone else using the ground.

      Hi Bruno, The particular red dot laser that is fitted to the PT-85 in this video works reasonably well but it does have a flaw. The 'On/Off' is a slide switch the runs at 90 degrees to the barrel. I found that the switch was loose and twice it got switched to 'On' in the Flambeau 1011 case resulting in flat batteries next time it came out to shoot. I got over this issue by putting a thick rubber band around the switch before putting it away in the case. I purchased mine from Ebay.co.uk - Item No: 184324744271 (description 20mm Tactical picatinny Weaver rail Mount Pistol Gun Compact Red Dot Laser Sight .
      However, I prefer the red dot sight fitted on my SA-10 video on this channel. This model of sight has a push button 'On/Off' with a positive click and it does not accidently get switched on in the case. Ebay.co.uk - Item No: 254654213164 (description Tactical Metal Red Laser Dot Sight Scope w/ Rail Mount for Pistol Rifle Hunting )
      Both of these sights take tiny silver button cells. So the battery life isn't great and you do need to turn the sight 'Off' when reloading / checking targets etc.
      All the best.

The CP2 is a great option because it is supplied with both a rifle length and a pistol length barrels plus a removable stock and a silencer. So the CP2 can be assembled as a pistol or a light weight rifle and with the silencer on they are very quiet so backyard plinking is possible. Using a spot of silicone oil (such as Pellgun Oil) on the end of each new cylinder (see 15:20 in this video) will keep the seal and valve in good order. Always end you shooting session on an empty CO2 cylinder and then remove it from the gun. This will protect the seal. In cold weather it is best to keep your CO2 cylinders in a trouser pocket to keep them warm and this will ensure the max muzzle velocity.

    What power as the gun got

    • @Incognito1-1
      @Incognito1-1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Frank, The short answer is I guess the muzzle energy of this gun is somewhere around 2ftlb. As I mentioned in this video, and the videos of the other CO2 pistols that I review, I haven't bothered to test the muzzle energy because the power output is so dependent on the ambient temperature and the time between shots. Because these guns are powered by 12g CO2 cylinders the gas pressure available to push the pellet falls at low ambient temperatures. When the gun is fired some of the liquid CO2 changes state into a gaseous form but this causes a drop in temperature and a consequent pressure drop leading to a drop in muzzle velocity.
      I did test my CP2 after I had stripped and polished the hammer and trigger assembly. If I get some time available I will test some of my other pistols. I will need to record the CO2 cylinder temperature, the ambient air temperature, the time between shots and the muzzle velocity then plot charts to show the shot string over the discharge of the whole cylinder for the results to make any sense. In short, the lower the air temperature the lower velocity and the more rapidly the gun is fired the faster the muzzle velocity will step down with each successive shot.
      Hope that this helps. If you need a high power pistol then check out the CP1 and CP2. These pistols develop around 5ftlb and the CP2 with the long barrel fitted can develop around 8ftlb.
      All the best.

    i like ur vid grandpa but do your research now in 2020 the gamo pt-85 is a 10 year old air pistol but its still the most powerfull co2 pellet pistol on the market for over 7 years now so you do get the best pistol for your money

    • @Incognito1-1
      @Incognito1-1  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Chazz, I made these table top reviews to help others get a close-up view of the guns while I gave a voice over of the features, pros and cons. As I stated in the video I do not see any real benefit in producing the muzzle energy data because there are so many variables beyond the users control that affect the muzzle velocity:
      - cylinder brand and start pressure;
      - ambient air temperature (which affects the cylinder pressure and the valve operation);
      - the rate of fire because rapid fire will reduce the CO2 temperature and pressure;
      - the pellet weight and crucially the fit in the barrel.
      The manufacturers typically produce their guns in a variety of power settings for different markets across the globe. In the UK pistols are legally limited to be below 6ftlb at the muzzle. The blowback pistols are typically in the range 1.5 - 3 ftlb which is perfectly adequate for plinking tin cans and spinners at 10M. I would definitely not recommend any of the UK market blowback pistols for any use other than fun plinking and light-hearted competition on card targets. None are powerful or accurate enough to make them suitable for pest control. On the plus side the UK market pistols often have very little gaudy white lettering on them whereas in the US market the guns are usually spoilt by huge amounts of white lettering along the slide.
      There are few pistols available in the UK market that offer muzzle energy close to the UK limits. The CP1 pistol, that is available under numerous branding guises, does stand out because it is capable of consistently puttiing shots into 25mm groups at 10M with muzzle energy around 5.5ftlb straight out of the box. I have one of the CP1 pistols so I will be making a video of it for this channel. I may also make follow-up videos on the CP1 to show the improvements I make to it and any accuracy improvements that result.
      All the best.

      @@Incognito1-1 I will start with the PRO'S This pistol has a very heavy blow back action. The pt 85 is one of the most powerful c02 pistols on the market.It is fun to shoot. CON'S This pistol is not very accurate . A laser sight will help its performance. It is very heavy . The magazines are plastic clips and because of the heavy blow back action these clips have a short life. After several hundred shots they are so worn they just fall out of the gun. Replacement clips are around 9 dollars apiece . I don't shoot mine very often.

      @@williamcathcart7994 Hi William, Thanks for sharing your experience. I haven't had any issues yet with the magazine but I will post a note here if any issues arise with any on the guns I review.
      In the UK we have strict gun laws and air pistols are limited to sub-6 ftlbs muzzle energy. The PT-85 in the UK market isn't particularly powerful - all the blowback pistols here seem to come in at around 1.5 - 3 ftlbs. For more power and decent accuracy then try the CP1. I have one and will try to get round to producing a table top review soon. I also have an Artemis CP400 that is about to arrive and I am looking forward to reviewing it along with a few different sights.
      All the best.

      @@cuentanueva3706 Hola, si no te gusta el retroceso, te sugiero que pruebes un CP1 o CP2. Tengo 3 de estas armas chinas y son muy divertidas y baratas de comprar. El lado negativo es que tendrá que hacer un trabajo menor, como pulir los sellos del gatillo y la entrada del cañón. En mi opinión, el CP2 es el mejor porque en un paquete obtienes un cañón de pistola, un cañón de rifle, una culata extraíble y un silenciador.
      Todo lo mejor.
