I have shot several thousands steel BBs (they are faster than any pellet and make more recognizable impact ) and pellets of at least three basic materials : lead , composites , and single light metals with the range from 3.9 gr to 7.9 gr ( by far the best were all-steel 5.4 gr BBs ). All the pellets did was to ruin my first SA 10 by getting out of the clip with bores in the rubber too big and getting stuck in the big mag with no easy way to get the mag out ; couple of them even crashed into each other in the barrel when the first somehow got stuck there ( all open to confirm by my dealer ) . So , now I am merrily shooting only BBs using only the “BB plastic clip ,”----- hoping that some dealer sells me couple of these BB PLASTIC CLIPS for a few bucks----- and both , me and my SA 10 , will be happy .
Hi, Thank you for pointing this out. You are absolutely correct. When I reviewed this SA-10 I never tested the trigger safety blade but it felt correct. I have now pulled the trigger by holding the metal blade between thumb and finger and indeed the trigger does operate without the safety blade being depressed. Bit naughty! I have found the slide lock back useful to expose the breech for barrel cleaning using a pull through. I haven't tried to field strip the gun because I did not find the rear of the slide wanting to lift when the slide was back and I didn't want to force it and risk damaging a gun that didn't need stripping. Please let me know if you have any tips for safely removing the slide. I am also interested to know if on your gun the slide is a little rattley when the gun is shaken. My slide has a little vertical movement at the muzzle end. Overall though I still think that Umarex did a great job. The magazine system that incorporates the valving is just beautiful. At the price that this was being sold (£103.99) it represents unbeatable value. The shooting experience is very good. My only real gripe remains the plated barrel which is just too bright and blingy. I would have preferred a simple blued finish. All the best.

I know you mentioned the number of shots is dependent on few variables, but comparing to other guns, can get a decent amount off this gun? I heard that the blowback drains the cylinder quite quickly and you can feel a drop in power already after 20-30 shots.
Hi, It is a fact that all blowback pistols use a little of the CO2 to operate the slide and simulate the combustion gas blowback of the real firearm. This is the price that you pay for the 'recoil' effect that adds to the fun of shooting this type of pistol. However, I would suggest that a fair number of useable shots would be more like 5 mags so 40 shots. But as I said in the video there are a few factors that will affect performance and ambient temperature has a significant effect and so does the rate of fire. For best performance I recommend lowering the gun to rest on the bench for say 20 seconds before raising it to fire the next shot. In practice I shoot the gun until the slide does not blowback sufficiently to cock the hammer. This is a useful indicator that the CO2 cylinder pressure is very low. You will also have been noting that your shots have been dropping lower and lower before the hammer is not cocked by the last shot. At this point I I usually finish the mag by manually racking the slide to cock the hammer and take the shot then repeat until the mag is empty. At this point change the cylinder for a full one that you have kept nicely warm in your trouser pocket. Another thing to keep in mind is that a low shot count isn't really of any importance. It is much better to focus on buying good quality CO2 cylinders at a good price. Buying 100 at a time gets them at around 3 for £1. So if you go to the range and blast through 120 shots your total cost would be less than £2 - bargain. Enjoy your shooting. All the best.
@@Kubakaiser Hi, Yes, when the temperature of the cylinder (and the CO2 inside) drops the pressure in the cylinder also drops. As the pressure drops the muzzle velocity will drop. For example, on a warm summer day when you start a shooting session the air temperature and the CO2 cylinder are at 20C. As you fire the gas is released from high pressure to much lower pressure and this causes a temperature drop in the CO2 cylinder and this lowers the pressure a little. The next shot lowers the temperature/pressure a little more and so on with each shot. The air temperature is still 20C so this warms the cylinder a little and reduces the effect of the cooling. Resting for 30 seconds between shots allows the cylinder temperature to climb back and the shot string will be much more consistent. On cold winter days the air temperature is say 5C and the cylinder CO2 temperature will drop more rapidly because there is little warming effect from the surrounding air. This is why I recommend in the winter keeping the cylinder warm in your trouser pocket so that it will be at 36C when you start shooting. The steel and the liquid gas itself act as a heat store and slow the cylinder temperature drop. If you want to learn a little more about the science involved then I would recommend checking out some descriptions or TH-cam on how domestic refrigerators work. Fridges utilise the same cooling effect of expanding gas to cool the interior. All the best.

Ive just recently purchased and have had nothing but a jamming issue using premier hollow points 7.9 grain with the attempt to fire they dont eject and or just jam
Hi Kris, I have been mainly using Excite Econ II by H&N because they cycle flawlessly, they produce decent groups and they are cheap but very good quality for the price. These pllets are a flat head (wadcutter) so they punch card targets more cleanly than dome head pellets. I have also fired JSB Exact 8.44 and the Excite Hammer domed pellets. I haven't had any feed issues but it could be that your pellets just don't suit the gun. Hollow points are designed for hunting and intended to be used in rifles. Are you loading the pellets then pressing them firmly on to one of the 3 mag holder positions before putting the rotary mag into the top of the magazine. The little pimples in the holder positions seat the pellets properly into the rotary mags. If you try this and still have feed problems then try the Excite Econ II. All the best.

I just purchased an sa 10. I have not fired it yet. The one issue i have is the slide wont come off. Im doing everything right yet it wont come off. Any suggestions?
I have had one of these for a week now and have loved it, however the slide on mine seems excessively loose and rattles when shaken slightly. Anyone else have this problem? I am about to send it back for replacement but dont know if its normal? Thanks all
Hi Mike, The slide on my SA-10 does feel a little loose and rattles if the gun is deliberately shaken violently. When handling the gun normally this is not particularly noticeable. I think I did mention this characteristic in the video review. I would suggest taking it back to the dealer and asking to compare it against other SA-10 that they have in stock to see whether you gun is worse than the norm. Hi Anthony, Unfortunately the extended barrel is threaded with an unusual 14mm thread rather than the usual 1/2'' UNF. It is probably best therefore to buy an adaptor that allows you to use a standard suppressor. Hi Bruce, Yes, this SA-10 can be field stripped. Getting the slide off and back on again is a bit fiddly and so I don't do it. I just can't see the point in stripping this gun - it is powered by CO2 so doesn't have a build up of combustion debris. Maintenance really comes down to a drop of silicone oil on the end of the cylinder each time you change the CO2 cylinder. A few spots of gun oil on the metal to metal sliding parts. After a tin of pellets shoot a few felt cleaning wads through the gun and that's it done. All the best.

I've one of these and you'll find that the trigger safety is just for show. Plus the "slide lock back" is mainly used to field strip the gun.

Dude, it literally says smooth barrel on the box... like it is right there in front of you. Yet you are saying it is a rifled barrel???
