I'm probably one of may to say this, But Thank you Josh Bixler, David, Chad and the rest of the flite test crew for bringing a different view in RC flying. Ive been watching your videos for a few months now and they are AWESOME!! . Thank you so much for taking the time to post these how to videos of your scratch built planes, I have printed the tile plans for this model and am looking forward to building and flying the F-22 with my son. A huge thanks to you
Love the fact that y'all gave credit to everyone else for this plane and admitted to only putting your spin on a proven design... This is why I continue to watch/follow Flite test.. gotta get me a couple of those sticker for my Semi truck... guess my son will be building this next.... and as always thank for the free plans
That is amazing! I am so getting one! Along with a lot of poster board and start making some custom designs. I will try to build some other modern aircraft, and share them with you guys. Thank you for the inspiration! Keep it up Flite Test!
Well done Chad. Josh made a point to acknowledge all the different f-22 versions already out there. I would like to personally acknowledge RCPowers....one of the first guys IMHO to mainstream this foamboard prop and slot f-22....his design is still epic. Matter of fact, it may have already been discussed but it would be awesome if you guys could have a few "special guests"....ex: maybe a trip to NZ to see Bruce one day.
Draculeos Fair enough, now I know and knowing is half the battle. Suspected RCPowers had a chip on his shoulder though. Strange to think just 3 years ago he was TH-cam king so far as RC related stuff was concerned and now where is he?
Bixler seems like the nicest guy on the planet. Does he EVER get upset or rattled about anything? He always seems to incredibly happy to be doing whatever he's doing. TBH, I'm a bit envious of that. Great show, as always guys. :)
Also a good tipp for making it quieter is to increase the clearance in front of the prop, from experience thats where most of the nose comes from because the blade is constantly going from high to low speed air and back.
I go to an engineering club and my teacher actually designed the air intakes for the real F-22. He told us all about how secret it was when he did it, and he wasn't even allowed to leave a single paper on his desk. They used special windows and walls because they had heard that the Chinese had something that would allow them to hear through our normal walls. So interesting to hear the story from him.
My friend flew the first combat mission and got the first kill in the f22. If I had 20/20 vision, I would certainly follow in his footsteps and join the Israeli air force :)
Thanks guys, was tired of the swaps, this might make a cool fpv with the micro camera, can do some dodge flying like you did through the woods but fpv..!!
My most successful method of extracting planes from trees: Large fishing pole, heavy line, tennis ball. poke holes through the tennis ball, and use a stick to push the line through, then tie a fisherman's knot. The propensity of bait, cast from a fishing pole, to snag in a tree makes it the perfect solution to shake the plane down. Also you will get great casting practice!
Nice plane, nice video. But still, it's making me sad, I HATE wintertime specially if I think of the coming summer without David, I love you man. Please come back summer 2015
Yeah so I'm a big fan of you guys... You guys actually got me going into this hobby. And a few days back, I got an idea that you could maybe build. Its an F-35 Lightning II without the stvol actually. But the main thing is, you can make a jet engine type except for without any flames... the jet will be powered by a electric motor... this gives the plane a realistic sound and may also increase the performance. I didn't do further experiments on this so... inbox me if you like it
"oh you done such a great job chad" "no josh you came up with the tunnel for the pushrod" "oh no but chad this is such a great design" "oh josh, but you did...." start making out 0_0
Hey guys... fun video... just one comment re. your comment, Josh B, about using the prop in slots for streamer combat. If you / others do fly streamer combat with electrics (as I love to do) remember to throttle OFF asap if the streamer gets wound in the prop. Failing to do so _can_ cause an overheat situation and permanently damage a motor. Prop in slots do not guarantee protection of the prop and if the streamer catches on another part of the airframe it can seize the motor. Not good. Don't shy away from it.... definitely DO have fun with combat! But remember to take care. Cheers, J
So I'm still extremely new to building planes and everything, but I just want a couple tip son how it is you guys get the stripes and decals on your planes so nice and even, any techniques or special kind of decals that you use?
This is probably a dumb question, but is there somewhere you can buy a kit with all the necessary electronics? I would love to build this, and know I need a remote, but I was wondering where to get all the rest, thanks.
Quick question. What if you swopped the motor from front to back and had the motor behind the thrust like a normal puller plane. Just mounted in thr middle?
Again! Josh was wearing the flitetest jacket when they were flying! I want one so bad because my zipper broke on my favorite jacket and its the same as the one josh had on, except for the flitetest printed on the fount and on the back. PLEASE SELL THEM! It is still cold and snowy were I live and I need a new one and am waiting for you guys to get them out!!!!!! PLEASE! :)
Wrist rocket, lead sinker, either kite string, mason line or heavier. If it's high in a tree shoot the kite string to thread and thread heavier cord. I've gotten things out 75 feet up. It is amazing how high up a 1 oz fishing weight on kite string will shoot up. Do NOT be under it when it comes down. Later, you can pop balloons with pinto or navy beans just for fun.
as you kept landing in the tree you should mod a tri copter and put a claw on the front... attach it using magnets and some string so when you grab the plane it breaks off and hangs at the centre of gravity...
Hey really nice, i always wanted an F-22. The problem i am having is that i have bought the (3 Pack Swappable Speed Build Kit) and mangaed to crash all of them i think the most problem i had was that where i live it is always windy. Do you think this will be a good plan to start with or i should go with something more slow like (FT Old Speedster) or is another one? Thanks a lot.
This is an excellent design and a good video. Thumbs up, by the way, for the Dusty Crophopper on the wall. One question; what´s that warbird, the silver one with invasion stripes?
Is there any chance that somebody could post some links to store pages with the necessities that are not included in the speed build kit? Like the servos, battery pack, etc.?
If I could, could I use electronics from a mighty mini power pack and use it for the f22? I want to get one, it's just I don't have a very good budget.
+Elan Kipervarg It can be flown with either power pack A or F which are usually the ones used in the Minis. But I'm not sure if you can just swap the electronics like with the swappables or have more work to do.
Way cool looking plane. Looking forward to the build video. I like the swapables but after building a couple other non swapable planes, Personally I'd rather build a plane, put the electrics in it and leave them, at least until it gets destroyed! LOL It really isn't that much (on small park models) to have a radio, motor and ESC in each plane. I know receivers that work with my Turnigy 9x are cheap and have had good success with the HK 3 channel Rx that is for the race cars.
If you stop the engine, won't the prop stop in a random angle? so if it is pointing directly to the ground, will the propellor hit the ground? or did they leave enough room of the ground? could anyone help me with this?
I'm glad this came up in my recommended videos, it's been decades since I had anything RC other than a TV lol
I'm probably one of may to say this, But Thank you Josh Bixler, David, Chad and the rest of the flite test crew for bringing a different view in RC flying. every time the show ends I always smile because you guys are doing so well and you really encourage me in the hobby thanks so much :)

I love your guy's swappable series and everything you do to promote rc flight. PLEASE dont get rid of swappables!
That is amazing! I am so getting one! Along with a lot of poster board and start making some custom designs. I will try to build some other modern aircraft, and share them with you guys. Thank you for the inspiration! Keep it up Flite Test!

This plane is a winner. Not from personal experience but I've seen some guys flying at my field. It's on my list to build - soon.
Awesome!
This episode came JUST in time! Wanted a simple plane that I can build with a shortage of parts.
Never cared too much for the F-22 style planes as they always seemed to flat. You guys did an excellent job on the redesign.
This is and was my favorite plane these guys did!
Oooohhhh I remember when you guys released the older F-22!! This one looks so much better! Gotta build one now! ;D Good job!
Bixler seems like the nicest guy on the planet. Does he EVER get upset or rattled about anything? He always seems to incredibly happy to be doing whatever he's doing. TBH, I'm a bit envious of that.
Great show, as always guys. :)

Amazing flying at the bonus end
cam on. cac giao vien huong dan lam mo hinh nhe , that tuyet voi,rat chi tiet ! cam on toi rat thich.

its not just the chinese usa has it to and it picks up vibrations on windows and turns them into words thats the laymens terms
Just ordered 3 of these kits. I hope to get my 8 year old son involved in the build and, with some luck, some buddy box flights.
You guys have WAAAAY too much fun! :)
I love the F22 so much that I watched it twice!
Thanks guys, was tired of the swaps, this might make a cool fpv with the micro camera, can do some dodge flying like you did through the woods but fpv..!!
Can't wait for the plans!!
Great job mate will order a couple to build with the grandsons keep up the good work
Great Job! this is what the hobby is all about fun!
Is possible build it with a EDF 64mm? the sound is great!
My most successful method of extracting planes from trees: Large fishing pole, heavy line, tennis ball. poke holes through the tennis ball, and use a stick to push the line through, then tie a fisherman's knot. Great video! Just placed my order can't wait to get it and go fly!!!
Nice plane, nice video. But still, it's making me sad, I HATE wintertime specially if I think of the coming summer without David, I love you man. Please come back summer 2015
I love the swappable series and hope you guys keep making them. The Raptor is cool but, I still prefer the swappables.
Looking forward to the Viggen foamboard planes in the background at 00:35 . I never had a plane with canards.
Yeah so I'm a big fan of you guys... You guys actually got me going into this hobby. And a few days back, I got an idea that you could maybe build. Yeah dude, that elecric powered jet you talk about is already a big thing, its called an EDF. They already made an EDF jet called the Viggen.
"oh you done such a great job chad"
"no josh you came up with the tunnel for the pushrod"
"oh no but chad this is such a great design"
"oh josh, but you did...."
start making out 0_0
you guys shoot out machine gun loads of compliments^^
can you guys come to australia like you did with L.A, theres lots of people here who love your show just like it do.
keep up the good work
Nice - been missing the vids lately.
I'll be building this one for sure.
I'm trying to get into scratch builds myself!! Nice guys!
I am literally regretting buying the racer this looks awesome!!!
Josh Josh & Chad : Those Planes seem to Fly pretty good ! But you guy's are all good Flyers Also ! Great job everyone & Thanks for the Video !
WOO More F-22s!!!!
These things are SICK!!!!!!!!!
plans? all i see is the old plan.. when is the pdf plans coming out on this version?
lol i can't stop laughing at the rubber band holding the prop
That's prop saver
Hey guys... fun video... just one comment re. your comment, Josh B, about using the prop in slots for streamer combat.

Yet another really great and inspiring episode, Amazing!
could rudder control be added to this plane?
would it add any benefit?
nice vid guys.
So I'm still extremely new to building planes and everything, but I just want a couple tip son how it is you guys get the stripes and decals on your planes so nice and even, any techniques or special kind of decals that you use?

Great video as always!
Looking forward to see you guys experimenting with the Mobius camera for FPV.
What was it he peeled off at about 3:16? Was that form board and he just peeled off one side of the paper?
You are correct.
Welcome back chaps!
Quick question. What if you swopped the motor from front to back and had the motor behind the thrust like a normal puller plane. Just mounted in thr middle?
Dang the edges of the air are dangerous! Fun times guys!
I would love to see one of these built like the FT Viggen. Maybe with dual EDFs.
been waiting for this for a while :)
At 7:10
Is this a Great Planes rifle in the background ?
Again! Josh was wearing the flitetest jacket when they were flying! I want one so bad because my zipper broke on my favorite jacket and its the same as the one josh had on, except for the flitetest printed on the fount and on the back. PLEASE SELL THEM! Suggestion! Maybe review a zephyr 2 with fpv?
great plane! I'm building one soon!

FINALLY THE F22!!!

Thanks a lot.
Awesome as usual!!!!
Nice!! Now I know what my next build will be, as for my wife! :D
Awesome video and build! But I think the vertical stabilizer should be a little more wide horizontal-ways by like an inch or two. Just my opinion
AWESOME!
When is the power pack for this model coming out?
Great Videos
How about adding the classic Ugly Stick to the simple series build.
looking forward to this one :D
I would appreciate it if you guys would test fly the HobbyKing Minimoa Glider or at least provide a tutorial on setup
BTW the Decal looks great on the window of my 2012 Crew Cab Z71! :)
I’m inspired to modify the design to incorporate a 50mm EDF on 3s. That would be really cool.
BTW.... Are the downloadable plans available for this plane yet?
I have a park 400 with a 2100 venom flight pack I put landing gear on it and it takes around 200ft to take off should I get a bigger prop
Was Chad's plane using the Blue Wonder motor?
could you guys do a video about best planes that are under $50-$100 because I'm trying to find good but cheap planes i could buy
Way cool looking plane. Looking forward to the build video. I like the swapables but after building a couple other non swapable planes, Personally I'd rather build a plane, put the electrics in it and leave them, at least until it gets destroyed! Do you guys happen to have the F-35 either out or in the works?
What? No scratchbuild of this one? Great job as always
Great plane! You could make your next scratch build an edf
Why did you guys changed the location for flying your planes ?
Another great plane to scratch build is an f4u corsair, you could use the toaster plane wings!
Where is the dual EDF version of this? Thanks!
you should make a EDF design, even one with a pod or A-10 style would be ok
check out my post of an edf version
is a 'swappable plane' on that can be a glider and a regular or what? any information would help thanks
Great flyer I need one
How about mounting a few rockets underneath that you can shoot while flying? Would be cool to watch. :)
The only PDF plans available
Are the original plans we want the new plans to build this awesome plane
so when are you going to do the f-35?
Hey I really want to get started with RC planes(already had flying experience) and I would like to know where to get the electronics, and controller.
Check out hobbyking, or horizonhobbies. The have great sales all the time but the only downside is that shipping can take a while.
Hi !!! I enjoyed a lot after watching this video. I am planning to build one for my self... n I need to know that do u ship the kin in India???
+Sumit Ambwani Yes, they ship more or less worldwide, but it can be crazy expensive.
If you stop the engine, won't the prop stop in a random angle?
so if it is pointing directly to the ground, will the propellor hit the ground?
or did they leave enough room of the ground?
could anyone help me with this?
I have been waiting :)
About how much do you think it could carry kn payload? im looking for a cheap build that i can mount a cam to and a Airsoft payload bay
FPV Specter speedbuild/simple build! SOME sort of designated FPV platform!!!!
I gave that tip on my channel of removing one layer of paper to make the foam board more pliable years ago
I just seen this kit on amainhobbies. Is there a way to mount a fpv camera in the nose of this one?
