- The No Foul Coalition needs us to band together to end racism in the NBA and all professional sports...except for Native-Americans. They don't count.
With the recent attention on the NBA surrounding Donald Sterling's controversial
remarks, it is easy to overlook that Native-Americans have long experienced racism in professional sports. The No Foul Coalition isn't real, but is meant to shine a light on how prejudice towards minorities affect us all.

"Why did you guys even bring me down here!?"
The native Americans are most ignored
Steve Lopez that's the point of the video, they're the most ignored race of the US, despite being the first before whites
This was timely and hilarious. Great video.
I remember as a student in college, we were discussing discrimination. A bitter young black man could not conceive there was discrimination of native peoples. He thought they were rich from casinos. Obviously he never met a native people. But some how it is still okay to forget they were/are the first people in this country to be discriminated/and hunted down to almost extinction. Only because they could not be enslaved so not worth much to Anglos. But also is forgotten while discrimination and cruelty was happening to other races so was it being done to Indians, at the same time. Discrimination is discrimination no matter what color, race, sex, etc.. Its not okay for blacks, its not okay for Native Peoples.
sorry my mom but im not in college yet im in middle school
Why everyone don't let the Native American guy can't talk lol
To provide an example of the double standard to today's broadly accepted view towards racism. For some reason racism is bad only when it's not directed at Native Americans. The team name Redskins is still be fought over but nothing's being done about it. The name change could've been achieved in the same amount of time it took to ban Sterling from the NBA. They're calling bullshit on that view towards racism by using satire.
Thanks but I got the whole message of it.... It was a brilliant way to use humor to Illustrate the message.
The last part when she grabs his hair lmao.
See, THIS is good satire.
People you have to be kidding me. There are more black people in the NBA because of skill, not because of race. They're not like "Hmm, in order to not be racist, we're going to choose more Black people than White people regardless of skill". That would actually be racist because then they'd assume "Well since he's Black, he's better than the White guy in basketball".
I work at a sports camp, the amount of Black children that say "I want to be in the NBA" supersedes other races who just play because they love it.
***** so you're giving a free pass to any racist who isnt white? isnt that kind of racist? jets take jay-z for example and his five percent nation medallion he wears to basketball games. he is the owner of the nets and he proudly wears the emblem of a group who says "white people are the devil" and "Whiteness is weak and wicked and inferior." that kind of double standard is not funny at all its disgusting and so are you for turning a blind eye.
***** show me a factual example of structural and institutional racism in the past 10 years.
give me one factual example, not just some example you assume is out there. a REAL example of institutionalized racism. go for it
***** i never said it did make it harder for whites to join the nba. DID YOU EVEN READ?
what obvious barriers?? name some... because if you're just going to sit here and tell me you're fighting long dead no-longer existent racism with current new racism and don't believe there is a problem with that, then you my friend are just as racist as the people who instituted the racism you believe you are fighting against.
***** show me an example of institutionalized racism in the past 10 years or you stfu and consider yourself a lying idiot.
***** still waiting for one example.
So glad to see someone finally handling this issue like fucking adults. Tired off all the feigned outrage.
So true.
Timely, funny and well done!
I love how short the native guy is in this video haha. I'm exactly the same way when i go out in public...and I'm kinda tall for my family! #NativeProblems
I love the message! Let's not leave anyone behind, discrimination should never be tolerated.
This was amazing. And accurate. Hell, I live in the province with the highest population of first nations in the world and my teachers during racism and history segments would act like 1. they were talking only to white kids on the topic and that any kid who wasn't white just... wasn't present, like totally blocked them out like they were pieces of air and 2. racism could only happen to black people. Great combo, really.
Yeah, I had the exact same expirience.
I agree with that girl, that guy's hair is awesome
See white people THIS is how you do satire. Not saying something racially offensive then slapping a "satire" or "it's just a joke" sticker on it and calling it a day.
Well done. Funny but it left me sad.
The Washington NFL team needs to change their name. It is a slur, no other way to view it. Braves should go too. It leads to lampooning native culture. Easy change.
How about the Atlanta Raves? Get out your glowsticks.
The Washington Skins makes sense when you realize how sheer some football pants are.
it's just a name of a fucking football team, get over your sensitive ass
***** yes, I don't see the problem in that
***** It should be called the Washington Pink Skins
Emil652 I always like the thought of having a team called the cave men. They will have blond hair and blue eyes and with a club. After all white people where genetically designed to live in caves (white skin to absorb sun light, blue eyes to see better in the dark, small jaws to digest softer foods, thin nose due to the lack of rich air) so it can't be offensive right?
Mark Lance sure, honestly I would not have a problem with it. Not much can offend me
Okay, this was funny. lol
Racism is an idea; you can't stop an idea, however you can stop discrimination such as the blatant usage of the Native American Race in the naming of sports teams.
Close, but no cigar. Racism isn't an idea, it's a systematic form of oppression that is sanctioned by popular belief and policy. Believe it or not, the effects of racism can be reduced through prudent policy making, as was done during the civil rights movement.
@Sans Racism is a belief that you're superior to another race. You can't stop people in believing their beliefs. Point being there is a difference between racism and discrimation.
Sans
You are very correct as for the real and true meaning of racism and not the new watered down equal version of It today.
So is not racist to have native american team names? I thought I made a valid point and people seem to disagree.
jesse c You're fine in your intentions here but your statement that racism is an idea is false. You are thinking of prejudice. Racism is what Sans talking about, "a systematic form of oppression". This isn't the dictionary definition but in academia and within the social justice sphere of discourse, Racism and Sexism are both about a lot more than prejudice or even discrimination. It's about the power to oppress and that is why you hear people saying, "reverse racism doesn't exist" A black person can be prejudice against a white person but they do not have the social power to be racist against a white person. Same with men and women.
Prejudice is an idea, and we can not stop an idea (although if we work towards a more just society and culture of tolerance and understanding, it is possible to make such hateful ideas less frequent). You were correct in your meaning, but your wording was incorrect.
OMFG this was bloody hilarious. Still laughing when typing.
that joke in the vid made me laugh and a good point to put on for the recent events.
It's a great message, but I feel like a horrible person because I kept thinking about how gorgeous the Native American actor was the entire time. Lol.
OMG! Yes! Thank you! I have been saying this for years!
The name, "Chiefs" is not only derived from a fan contest, but also from Mayor Bartle, who 35 years prior, founded the Native American-based honor society known as The Tribe of Mic-O-Say within the Boy Scouts of America organization, which earned him the nickname, "The Chief."
Watched this like 18 times and it's STILL funny.
This is so true!... Good video!
The Chicago Blackhawks name was approved by the Blackhawk native nation
blackhawk was sauk native american , whom is sac and fox . That was not approved by blackhawk
hahaha
Let's just avoid the native!
The look at 0:52 is priceless. This video had me cracking up, most of the time.
Then the 1:53 ending is hilarious!
THIS VIDEO IS EVERYTHING TO ME. Yes we all have words to say about the recent race issues in sports but man Native American's have be complaining about this for YEARS and this video say everything that needed to be said when it comes to the mascot sports issue. Perfect!
this was funny and has a good point, but none of the examples in this video are from the NBA...
That's why they said professional sports
Ving Rhames Is that also why the title says "NBA"?
Ving Rhames dillwad
Point is the NBA is a sport, just like the MLB, NHL. So if a comment of "I don't want black people here" had such a huge movement, why cant The Red Skins, Indians, heck even the NY Giants might be offense to tall people!
Daniel Castro huh? LOL what in the f*ck are you talking about? tall people? wtf?
Lol I wanted to hear what he had to say
I did too I really did,but the way they laid it out in the sketch explained everything. And I loved that the underlying racism of Native Culture in the Sports administration etc was shown in the sketch..it spoke for itself by him not being able to speak and be heard. I can't say Native "American" because they were here first. Hopefully this shines light on the point they were making.
@shenandoahliberty I agree. My great grandmother was Cherokee and my other great was from the Blackfoot tribe
Candice S. We have NINE tribes in my family, Muskokee Creek seems to be the highest BQ, Followed by Choctaw, Cherokee, Chickasaw, Cree, Cheyenne, Powhatan, Osage, and Delaware, in no particular order. I cannot get enrolled, though, because my grandfather refused enrollment, and though two of his sisters enrolled, you have to enroll lineally, not laterally. One of my uncles enrolled through my grandfather SOMEHOW, but that was LONG ago.
shenandoahliberty I'm really dumbfounded by this.. More like Pissed! That's not Fair. Total and complete bullshit. You should be getting a full ride regardless of the "Rules". Have you looked into it more?
shenandoahliberty the things they never tell to people. All I can say is I'm sorry for the way you are treated. My apologies in disgust may not seem like much. But trust me when I say from a genuine heart, that I really do feel your pain..maybe not all but a nice amount which is a lot.
yup
Whoooosh.
What was that sound?
That was the point of the video flying over a bunch of idiots heads.
Omg, didnt even think of that
Black people and Indians (whether American native or Mid-Eastern) need to start procreating together so future generations of black girls will just have good hair...
Wait.... What?
STFU forever, what does good hair have to do with anything
We should blend all the races then will just be one.
lmao XD
What about black booys? They have the same type of hair as black females and why did 17 ppl like this comment?
HA! last part cracked me up. id be like bitch did you just touch my hair! and just so everyone knows im native with long hair and I find this video funny.
They did my Native American brother wrong
I Know I'm black and I find it appalling SMH
I am full blood Native American, and I don't think racism is the top priority of the many issues that Native Americans face. It actually irritates me that only when media chooses to set fire to certain issues that "people" then start to make an effort.
People should just stop worrying about what others say
Very well done.
Nice satire here
This was amazing.
Super funny!
Spot.On.
Is it part of the joke that there are no caucasians in this video?
When was a Caucasian ever miss treated for being white on a government level in America? Slavery? Deportation? Brink of extinction? Labeled a Terrorist? I will wait..
Kuma El Negro Happened with the Irish in the 19th century. Ever hear of the Molly McGuiers? Goggle it. Other examples exist, but the fact is, I don't really care that much. Just the same, you'd be surprised how much the government screws with whites. As long as they're poor and powerless. It doesn't make people of color any less special. It just shows we all have more in common than you think.....
You don't have to have gone through slavery or the brink of extinction just to have racism directed towards you.
Is it STILL happening to them? This is current stuff, things that STILL continue in this country today. We're aware of the Irish, and the Chinese, but they're not still treated as harshly as Indians have been from the beginning.
Actually, that is not what this video is about. And that was actually white against white, not other races against white.
Damn who that black girl? She fine as hell.
this is really great
Poor Micah :(
poor guy I want to give him a hug he's soo cute!
Awesome. So true!
Now that we've got momentum, let's keep it moving... looking at you, *****, Atlanta Braves, and Chicago Blackhawks. You guys could at least start with new chants.
/via *****
obviously you've never been to a Blackhawks game. No racist chanting. Ever.
AtomicTommy
It's been my experience that Bruins fans are the most racist.
Ok everyone's mad about this video not having any white people, but that was because their pointing out how other "minority" races get more respect than Native Americans. Obviously us white people don't have to deal with that.
so true - even up here in Canada - bunch of hypocrite's
Lmao this was hilarious and well written. Smart skit hahaha
Can I ask a question and get some thought-out opinions? There are sports teams named "Redskins" and "Braves", yeah. But what about the Celtics? That's a reference to a race of white-skinned people from the British Isles. Granted, there aren't any pure-blood Celts left. But still...would we just strike all names referring to races as inappropriate?
This is so spot on. Well done. #DeChief
that just made my day
ADD is digging deep
OMG! so true!!
HAHAHAHA this had me in tears..
Great video, but the comments are always more entertaining
Very very very very very very good point. It not just a good point, it's a very good point......:-)
Well put together for being just about sports. But to be more accurate to historical and yet still contemporary talks about race, this could use a Kanye West-level intrusion. Something like, "Yo everyone not white, I’m really sad for you, Imma let you finish, but Black people had one of the worst oppressive experiences of all time." To which a Native American person would cut in and subvert: "Yo African American dude, I’m really sad for you, too, Imma let you finish, but Native American populations not just risked but nearly experienced total genocide, lost the overwhelming majority of their home land, are slowly losing all of their heritage as young people lose interest in history despite attempts to hold on, have the highest prevalence of mental distresses, and experience the highest rates of crime. These things aren't supposed to boil down a pissing match over who has it worse. Worse serves nothing. We can either dwell on what's wrong or dwell on fixing it, ideally without screwing over undeserving people. Seriously though, change the names of those fucking sports teams..."
Beautiful message! No racism huh?! I'm glad someone thought of this. Race issues aren't just BLACK and WHITE PEOPLE!!! Thanks for the video! :):) I LOVE EDUCATION!
P.s. yes I'm black no I'm not African or Jamaica
I love the point this makes... I pray that one day Native Americans get the social outrage that black people get.
Also, I find it hilarious that he gives her this 'bitch did you really just touch my hair' look. Ha... so funny and yet so sad.
THIS IS BRILLIANT!! (and the Native American is gorgeous)
lol, yall block the true American...lol
This was not on point, the Chicago Blackhawks are named for Chief Black Hawk who inhabited the Mississippi Valley In the ILL. area in the 1800's No different than the Seminole tribe who are honored by Florida St. I don't see how the word Chief is racist, since I heard it in reference to someone who is in charge, such as a Master Chief in the Military
THIS HAD ME LAUGHING!!! we all forget the native americans they need to be involved too :)
"What other race is a mascot?"
The Irish.
You mean the Fighting Irish and the Celtics.
1. The Irish aren't a race.
2. Both of those institutions chose their mascots because of their heritage. They didn't choose a cartoon stereotype of a group not represented in their student body or metropolitan demographics.
3. Even if 1. and 2. weren't true, there is no swell of support for changing those names amongst Americans, Irish or otherwise.
the native guy is fine as hell !!
INR?
Why don't you guys add more Native Americans in your videos? This guy is so hot. Do more Native American stereotypes or other videos about them.
That Donald Sterling reference though. XD
its going to be funny how the very race he has a problem with "in public" will remove him "in public" lmfao i just love the way karma works its wonders XD i bet he feels bad now being raciest X3
I know four NBA stars: Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Le Bron and Larry Bird. How the f**k can it be racism in the sport where the biggest white dude was active in the 70s? And why the hell hasn't the black super dudes got their hands on a team like the white men always do?
i hear "Bron" is actually an indian sir name who to say Le is black at all
Because there's only two races.
funny but stung a little (and I'm not even native American)
It's also funny that at the end the Asian guy is trying not to laugh
Have the 1491s done an anti-mascot video? I don't think they have, but they cover just about everything else, just as humourously.
I was mad at how the was doing him dirty but then she touched his hair and I wanted to flip a table,Bitch you know better!
This is great and sending a great message. Although it doesn't include any white people speaking out to stop racism. In my opinion it would make a big impact if white people would also speak out to stop racism in sports because the white people were the ones being racist in this instance.
If it makes you feel any better, the members of our production company who made the video are white. :)
That's part of the point. White people are the ones trying to tell us what is racist and what is not. Let the people of the other races speak for themselves. That kind of thing.
No, we didn't write it. It was written by Cesar Mazariegos. ;)
On point satire!
I call foul on this video. No representation for the Croatians, not a single Canadian curler, a complete lack of Namibians, and the deafening silence on behalf of the Afghan National Buzkashi League. What's THAT all about?
This shows just how dumb taking racism seriously is. That Sterling guy spoke in private on a private phone call.
It's taken seriously when it disturbs how people treat each other, when someone gets fired or hired, when the person signing your check does not like you for no reason. How old are you? that you don't realize it effects a lot of things.
Look up Bomani Jones speaking about the real problem.
Kuma El Negro
what are you even talking about. what people say in private is no ones business. This convo should have never been leaked. too bad this old man is still thinking with his dick and got some 20 something year old bimbo weaseling him out of money. I honestly didn't even think it was racist. Also it only hits the news if a white guy says it. everything about this is racist except for what the guy actually said.
If we don't take racism seriously people will continue to die on the streets and get exterminated because of the color of their skin. You are racist as fuck.
Hunter McFarland You make it sound like there's a race war when there is not much cross racial killing at all.
Their Making a statement, that everybody else is being heard except for the Native Americans , about the racist redskin logo
you know that a large majored of Indian people actually don't get offended by the Washington red skins because it was made IN HONAR OF THERE NAME FOR GOD SAKES
Lol they definitely played that guy...
Now that's racist! Lol
They had native americans in twilight.
Checkmate reds.
Brilliant! ^_^
I think they're being a little too sensitive.
First off, I don't know why this video is mentioning the NBA, because none of the team names are potentially racist. Someone might try to argue that the name "Celtics" is racist against Irish people, but even then I would think that they are forcing it. The name "Celtics" only becomes a racial issue once somebody tries to make it a racial issue.
Second, if names like the "Chiefs", or the "Braves", or the "Blackhawks" are racist, does that mean that the "Vikings" is racist? Or the "Knicks"? What if there was a team named the "Shamans"? Or the "Priests"? Can't have it both ways.
However, I do agree that using mascots of Native Americans could be racist, as well as the name "Redskins". Even Obama wanted them to change the name.
I think that people don't realize that these names are racist because they don't understand the context of how they're racist. It's not just a name to indigenous people. The terms like Chiefs and Blackhawks are sacred to indigenous peoples, so to put it in colonial terms, it might be perceived as sacrilegious. Not only this, but it continues stereotypes as these names usually come with racist acts like the tomahawk chop. Although a poor example, altogether, it might be the equivalent of a depiction of a priest (a chief, in this context) mascot touching a child sexually (the continued stereotype).
Dat girl on 1:09 looks like a girl version of Meek Mill
LMFAO.....however, on a serious note, this spoke volumes! EVERY race and culture should be taken seriously not put aside.
Is this real?
good
LOL so true!!!!! we native americans are looked past a lot :( but this was a really funny video!!
LOL!! Point well taken.
oooooh snap
I'm will always be an Atlanta Braves fan and I won't stop doing the tomahawk chop until I die.
Well Put. Too True. BUT Changing FAST because of US!!!
(Pass it on to those who do not know the tipping point has arrived.)
is the the vikings team racist against scandinavians? me neither.
The word "Viking" is not a racial slur. The word derives from the Norse word "víkingr," which means seafarer or warrior who goes overseas.
The word "redskin" has been used almost exclusively as a derogatory slur for over a couple hundred years. Comparing the two terms is disingenuous, at best.
nice try. but no.
anddudewaslike Well that was a thorough, well-documented, and comprehensively referenced refutation to my comment, so I guess I will have to change my mind and defer to your expertise. Thank you for that exhaustive and meticulous counter-argument. I can see that I am no match for your superior debating skills.
Floyd Aranyosi My response was actually to Carl Simmons. Sorry if I might have hit the wrong reply link..
anddudewaslike No worries, brother, we're good. TH-cam doesn't really have the "threaded reply" thing worked out. I apologize for my mistaken assumption that you were replying to me. Susan Wojcicki and
Chad Hurley are to blame for that misunderstanding, not us. :-)
classic
lol what about Vikings and leprechauns
One is a warrior class, the other is imaginary. They're not races of people.
One race is a joke and the other is oh wait another joke! lol uh no fucking shit you want a cookie or an imaginary pot of gold. LMAO
Winslow1691
Uh...do you feel alright? This video is about racism, you're talking about things that aren't races, including something imaginary.
leprechauns and Vikings are used as mascot but are cultural......leprechauns can represent stereotypes of the Irish but Vikings they have a more secretive history.........
Winslow1691 Holy shit, you're a moron.
ya, all the race pimps don't care when Jay-Z wears a Five Percent Nation medallion in the front row of an NBA game...
